Abstract

Abstract: Philosophy As The Foundation Of Science In The Development Of Chemistry. This article aims to present an explanation of philosophy as the basis of science in the development of chemistry. This article uses the literature review method. The library sources used in this article are journals and books on the development of chemistry. The results of the research show that (1) Philosophy serves as the basis from which philosophy is obtained the truth which becomes the basis or foundation of chemistry. By learning something related to chemistry through knowledge (philosophy) is a step to get true and objective knowledge about chemistry. (2) Chemists and scientists agree on the basis of the development of chemistry, namely to obtain answers to the what and why questions about matter in nature, each of which will produce facts and theoretical knowledge about matter whose truth can be explained by mathematical logic. Finally, (3) The study of chemistry in its development includes aspects of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. The ontology aspect includes the chemical concept of matter and matter. The epistemological aspect includes the understanding of chemistry that is obtained and developed based on experiments and theories. While the axiological aspect of chemistry includes the usefulness of values for human understanding so that humans will be better at the surrounding nature and use various natural processes that take place in it to meet the needs of human life. Keywords: Philosophy, Development of ChemistryDOI: 10.23960/jppk.v10.i3.2021.19

Abstract

Education in Indonesia has changed from offline learning to online learning because of the corona virus. The corona virus has been endemic in Indonesia since early March 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed various aspects of human life, including in the field of education. This condition causes all elements of education to utilize ICT for use in the learning process. One of the uses of ICT can be applied to the development of learning resources. The learning process during the pandemic requires learning resources that are interesting, fun, and in accordance with the applicable curriculum. This research is a type of development research that aims to describe the validity, teacher responses, and student responses to e-books on chemical equilibrium material for online learning during the covid-19 pandemic. The research method used is the Research and Development (RD) method. E-book developed using book creator application. Based on the results of expert validation of the developed e-book, an average percentage of 76.29% was obtained with high criteria in the aspect of content suitability. In the construction aspect of 82.95%, readability of 82.22%, and attractiveness of 83.8%, all three have very high criteria. The results of the teacher's response to the suitability aspect of the material content are 86.67%, readability is 85.6%, and attractiveness is 86.8%, all three have very high criteria. The results of students' responses to the readability aspect were 84.5% and attractiveness was 83.9%, both of which had very high criteria. From the research results it can be stated that the e-book developed is valid. Keywords: e-Book, chemical equilibrium, book creator, covid-19 pandemicDoi: 10.23960/jppk.v10.i3.2021.01

The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model teaches the steps used in improving critical thinking and this study uses CTL based teaching materials for redox and electrochemical materials. The purpose of this study is to find out; (1) the implementation of CTL and conventional learning (2) the difference in the critical thinking ability of the CTL class with the conventional class, (3) the difference in CTL class learning outcomes with the conventional class, (4) the students' response to the CTL based teaching materials. The research design used was quasiexperimental or Quasi Experimental Design with Posttest Only Control Design. The results showed that: (1) The implementation of CTL learning had an average of 86% and conventional learning was 85%. (2) There is a difference in students' critical thinking skills with the average experimental class (66.93) higher than the control class (51.32). (3) There are differences in student learning outcomes with the average experimental class (64.93) higher than the control class (48.89). (4) Students' responses to CTL based teaching materials based on the results of the assessment of students by 76% to assess the content of teaching materials and for an assessment of its users by 72%. Both are classified as good use in this study although based on comments, obstacles, and suggestions that these teaching materials have strengths and weaknesses that need to be corrected for future users. Keywords: Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), critical thinking skills, learningoutcomes, redox reactions and electrochemistry.

Abstract

Student worksheets (LKPD) are a series of learning tools that affect the learning process's optimization. This study aims to describe student worksheets' validity with blended learning orientation to improve students' scientific literacy skills in oxidation-reduction reaction material. The research used is development research with the Nieveen development method with two stages: preliminary research and prototyping. The validity of the LKPD was obtained from the validation assessment of three expert validators in chemistry, namely two chemistry lecturers and one chemistry teacher. The instrument used was a LKPD validation sheet. The evaluation of the validation results of the LKPD showed that the percentage of content validity was 81.7%, and the construct validity was 84.7%. Thus, this study's results indicate that student worksheets with blended learning orientation to training scientific literacy skills can be declared valid.
