Abstract

Chemistry is one of the sciences that is considered difficult for some students. The difficulties in chemistry because many concepts in chemistry are complex and abstract. Hydrocarbons are one of the chemistry topics with abstract concepts and are difficult and often cause misconceptions on students. If students experience misconceptions on one of the basic concepts, then the possibility of the emergence of misconceptions will be even greater on more complex concepts. Therefore, the researcher conducted a study to identifying misconceptions of grade XI students on the Hydrocarbon topic using a three-tier diagnostic test instrument. This study was quantitative descriptive research. The research implemented on 17 – 29 January 2020 the subjects were students of XI grade of MIPA 2 and MIPA 3 of SMAN 4 Malang. The research instrument used was in the form of a three-tier multiple-choice test and has been tested and proven to be valid and reliable. Misconceptions were identified on 7 concepts from the hydrocarbon topic, including: the concept of Hydrocarbon Compounds (22,1%), Carbon Atoms (23,6%), Carbon Atomic Types (22,9%), Structure and Nomenclature of Hydrocarbons Compound (24,8%), Physical and Chemical Properties of Hydrocarbon Compounds (38,7%), Isomers (45,1%), and Hydrocarbon Compound Reactions (31,4%). Ilmu kimia merupakan salah satu ilmu yang dianggap sulit bagi sebagian siswa pada umumnya. Sulitnya ilmu kimia dikarenakan konsep dalam ilmu kimia banyak yang bersifat kompleks dan abstrak. Hidrokarbon merupakan salah satu materi kimia dengan konsep yang abstrak dan dirasa sulit, serta sering kali menimbulkan miskonsepsi. Apabila dalam belajar siswa mengalami miskonsepsi pada salah satu konsep dasar, maka kemungkinan munculnya miskonsepsi akan semakin besar pada konsep yang lebih kompleks. Oleh sebab itu peneliti melakukan penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa kelas XI pada materi Hidrokarbon menggunakan instrumen tes diagnostik three-tier. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 17 - 29 Januari 2020, subyek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas XI MIPA 2 dan MIPA 3 SMAN 4 Malang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa soal tes pilihan ganda three-tier dan telah diuji coba serta terbukti valid dan reliabel. Jawaban siswa kemudian dianalisis dan dikategorikan berdasarkan tingkatan pemahaman. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terjadi miskonsepsi sebesar 29,8% (kategori rendah). Miskonsepsi teridentifikasi pada 7 konsep materi hidrokarbon, diantaranya: konsep Senyawa Hidrokarbon (22,1%), Kekhasan Atom Karbon (23,6%), Jenis Atom Karbon (22,9%), Struktur dan Tata Nama Senyawa Hidrokarbon (24,8%), Sifat Fisik dan Kimia Senyawa Hidrokarbon (38,7%), Isomer (45,1%), dan Reaksi Senyawa Hidrokarbon (31,4%).

Abstract

Bahan ajar merupakan salah satu kelengkapan penting dalam pembelajaran. Pada mata pelajaran kromatografi lapis tipis (KLT), bahan ajar yang ada diduga belum sesuai dengan tuntutan kurikulum terbaru dan kebutuhan atau masalah siswa/mahasiswa. Maka, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bahan ajar yang perlu dikembangkan pada topik KLT dan untuk mendeskripsikan perbedaan kebutuhan bahan ajar antara siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) dan mahasiswa Perguruan Tinggi (PT). Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan dari observasi tipe non partisipan, wawancara mendalam dan angket tertutup. Wawancara ditujukan kepada 2 Guru dan 2 Dosen. Angket tertutup diisi oleh 20 siswa kimia analisis SMKN 7 Malang dan 20 Mahasiswa Kimia UM. Teknik analisis secara deskriptif kualitatif melalui reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan data. Hasil observasi adalah pustaka yang digunakan masih terbitan lama. Hasil wawancara menyatakan bahwa bahan ajar perlu update sesuai perkembangan ilmu. Hasil analisis angket adalah siswa dan mahasiswa memiliki kebutuhan sumber belajar yang berbeda. Siswa SMK membutuhkan sumber belajar yang bersifat teknis (60% video) dan mahasiswa membutuhkan sumber belajar yang bersifat deskriptif (70% animasi). Sumber belajar perlu integrasi teknologi (100% respon setuju). Kesimpulan, bahan ajar perlu dikembangkan yang berbasis multimedia interaktif, sehingga bahan ajar yang dikemas secara utuh disarankan untuk penelitian pengembangan.

Abstract

The implementation of chemistry practicum generally has several obstacles such as the lack of tools and materials as well as limited time and space causing students to have less understanding of the procedures and concepts learned in the practicum. This problem can be solved by utilizing a media called virtual lab which helps students prepare practicum activities independently. Virtual labs have the advantage of being able to provide performance to students in doing practical work in real laboratories, especially in chemistry learning process. This media can be improved in quality by integrating the triplet representation aspect which consists of three aspects, namely the macroscopic aspect (practicum technical skills), the submicroscopic aspect (the particulate level), and the symbolic aspect (interpreting data through the form of reaction equations or symbols based on observations). The purpose of developing this media is to produce a virtual lab media to support laboratory-based learning with the features mentioned above to make students become scientists with comprehensive understanding competencies and laboratory engineering skills. The virtual lab media product developed by using the Lee Owens development method which consists of five stages, namely assessment / analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation results in the results that the virtual lab based on triplet representations on chemical equilibrium material fulfills very feasible criteria to be used as a learning resource for students. The percentage of product eligibility as a learning media is 86.15% and in terms of material it is 85.71%. The results of small group trials in class XI students of SMAN 3 Sidoarjo showed that the virtual lab developed had met the very feasible criteria with an average percentage of 86.40%. The final result of this virtual lab has been revised based on comments and suggestions from validators and test subjects. Practically, the media that has been developed is very useful to support practicum learning

Abstract

Miskonsepsi merupakan masalah besar yang telah menjadi pusat perhatian bagi para pendidik dan peneliti pendidikan pada mata pelajaran ilmu pengetahuan alam, khususnya kimia. Salah satu  materi dalam kimia yang dianggap siswa cukup sulit sehingga tinggi kemungkinannya untuk terjadi miskonsepsi adalah materi kesetimbangan kimia. Miskonsepsi pada siswa perlu diidentifikasi dengan cepat supaya dapat segera ditangani sehingga tidak menganggu pembelajaran selanjutnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa pada materi kesetimbangan kimia menggunakan tes three tier berbasis web. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Responden pada penelitian ini adalah 178 siswa SMA kelas 11. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan persentase rata-rata miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada setiap konsep dalam materi kesetimbangan kimia berkisar antara 43,91% - 62,06%. Siswa mengalami miskonsepsi pada konsep kesetimbangan kimia, konsep tetapan kesetimbangan kimia, dan konsep Prinsip Le-Chatelier. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa tes three tier berbasis web dapat mengefisienkan waktu dalam mengolah data dan identifikasi miskonsepsi

Abstract

Some high school students still experience difficulties in studying chemistry, one of which is redox and electrochemistrytopics, which is very closely related to daily life. Besides that students 'understanding of the application of the material in daily life and students' critical thinking skills are low. This happens because students learn by rote caused by learning material that is contextual. Therefore it is necessary to develop learning materials based on Contextual Teaching and Learning to facilitate students in improving students' critical thinking skills on redox and electrochemistry topics. The development method used is basically the development model of the Four-D Model (4D Model by Thiagarajan) which consists of 4 stages, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. Teaching material that has been developed in the form of teaching material products based on Contextual Teaching and Learning on redox and electrochemical materials to facilitate critical thinking skills of high school students. This teaching material consists of student books, teacher books, and learning videos. Based on the validation test and readability test on student books, teacher books, and learning video the results of the obtained scores were 86%, 89%, 82%, and 83%, respectively. This shows that the learning material resulting from the development is very suitable to be used in learning on the material at the high school level.

Abstract

Abstract: application of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model to ImproveLearning Outcome and Critical Thinking Ability in Redox and Electrochemical Topics of Grade XII of SMA. The Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model teaches the steps used in improving critical thinking and this study uses CTL based teaching materials for redox and electrochemical materials. The purpose of this study is to find out; (1) the implementation of CTL and conventional learning (2) the difference in the critical thinking ability of the CTL class with the conventional class, (3) the difference in CTL class learning outcomes with the conventional class, (4) the students' response to the CTL based teaching materials. The research design used was quasiexperimental or Quasi Experimental Design with Posttest Only Control Design. The results showed that: (1) The implementation of CTL learning had an average of 86% and conventional learning was 85%. (2) There is a difference in students' critical thinking skills with the average experimental class (66.93) higher than the control class (51.32). (3) There are differences in student learning outcomes with the average experimental class (64.93) higher than the control class (48.89). (4) Students' responses to CTL based teaching materials based on the results of the assessment of students by 76% to assess the content of teaching materials and for an assessment of its users by 72%. Both are classified as good use in this study although based on comments, obstacles, and suggestions that these teaching materials have strengths and weaknesses that need to be corrected for future users.Keywords: Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), critical thinking skills, learningoutcomes, redox reactions and electrochemistry.

Abstract

Sidoarjo mudflow or known as Lusi (Lumpur Sidoarjo) is an ecological disaster that has caused the community fret. Most of them haven’t known that the mud contains elements that can produce electricity. This research aims to find the basic value that can be obtained from ecological disaster. The research design uses electrochemical method development with magnesium and copper electrodes. The result of the electric power that can be generated is 7,07135 watt/hour. It can reach an area of 4.405986 km2 or as wide as one residential in an electric production plant. The use of Lusi is very effective because it contains high metal and high salt content. The abundant amount of Lusi can be utilized effectively throughout this way

Abstract

     Abstract. COVID-19 pandemic can accelerate education 4.0, by changing the face-to-face learning system to online. The transition of the learning system to online bring several problems to the world of education. This problem is related to the unpreparedness of the teacher in preparing learning media to support the Distance Learning Process (PJJ). PJJ system is carried out by utilizing information technology. To support online learning, chemistry teachers in Mojokerto are mostly not yet skilled in using Information Technology (IT), such as learning media online and maximizing the functions platforms of pre-existing such as power points. However, chemistry learning needs to be done with a touch of  IT. Because chemical materials are submicroscopic and abstract, so IT is needed to understand them more easily. With the development of the Internet of Things (IoT), it can be utilized by maximizing the use of the internet for activities. Community dedication as an applicable activity of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the form of training is one effort that is felt to be done to overcome these problems. Therefore, the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Mathematics and Science, Universitas Negeri Malang provided training in making learning media online to Chemistry MGMP MA/SMA in Mojokerto city. The scope of activities carried out includes (1) program socialization and cooperation to school, (2) coaching, and (3) monitoring and evaluation. The results obtained indicate that this training activity is very useful and provides more insight into learning media online, with the hope that this activity can be carried out regularly to improve teacher skills in utilizing IT.               Abstrak. Pandemi COVID-19 mampu mengakselerasi pendidikan 4.0 dengan mengubah sistem pembelajaran tatap muka menjadi daring. Peralihan sistem pembelajaran menjadi daring membawa beberapa persoalan tersendiri bagi dunia pendidikan. Persoalan tersebut berkaitan dengan ketidaksiapan guru dalam menyiapkan media pembelajaran guna mendukung proses Pembelajaran Jarak Jauh (PJJ). Sistem PJJ dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan teknologi informasi. Guna menunjang pembelajaran daring guru-guru kimia di Kabupaten Mojokerto sebagian besar belum terampil dalam menggunakan Information Technology (IT), seperti media pembelajaran online serta memaksimalkan fungsi platform yang sudah ada sebelumnya seperti power point. Selain hal itu, pembelajaran kimia memang perlu dilakukan dengan sentuhan IT. Hal tersebut dikarenakan materi kimia bersifat submikroskopik dan abstrak, sehingga diperlukan IT untuk lebih mudah memahaminya. Dengan berkembangnya Internet of Things (IoT) saat ini, maka dapat dimanfaatkan dengan memaksimalkan penggunaan internet untuk kegiatan pembelajaran kimia, baik teori maupun praktikum. Pengabdian masyarakat sebagai kegiatan aplikatif tri dharma perguruan tinggi dalam bentuk pelatihan merupakan salah satu upaya yang dirasa dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Oleh karena itu, Jurusan Kimia FMIPA Unversitas Negeri Malang memberikan pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran online  kepada MGMP Kimia MA/SMA Kabupaten Mojokerto. Lingkup kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi: (1) sosialisasi program dan kerja sama ke sekolah, (2) pembinaan, serta (3) monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil yang diperoleh menyatakan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan ini sangat bermanfaat dan memberikan wawasan lebih terkait media pembelajaran online, dengan harapan kegiatan ini dapat dilaksanakan secara berkala untuk meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam memanfaatkan IT.

Abstract

The transfer of the learning process in the classroom to online learning brings several problems for the world of education, one of which is the inhibition of practical learning activities, especially in chemistry subjects. This situation also substantially contributes to the inhibition of learning activities at the SMK level, where the learning character is more practical. Unfortunately, not all SMK chemistry teachers in the Malang district make online-based learning media, primarily to facilitate online practicum activities. One of the efforts that can be done to overcome these problems is the collaboration between universities, such as technical guidance activities (BIMTEK) conducted by the Department of Chemistry, FMIPA, the State University of Malang for chemistry teachers in SMK in Malang Regency. During the pandemic, the Chemistry Department has made learning innovations and efficient learning, such as alternative learning media to develop online-based media. One of them is a virtual laboratory that is integrated with android devices. Activities carried out to include 1) program socialization and cooperation to schools, (2) coaching, and (3) monitoring and evaluation. BIMTEK includes preparing and implementing training activities for creating virtual laboratories, starting from creating displays, content/animations, and making applications. The results indicate that BIMTEK activities are beneficial and provide more insight regarding online-based learning media. --- Dialihkannya proses pembelajaran di kelas menjadi pembelajaran daring membawa beberapa persoalan tersendiri bagi dunia pendidikan, salah satunya adalah terhambatnya kegiatan pembelajaran praktikum terutama pada mata pelajaran kimia. Situasi ini juga memiliki andil yang sangat besar terhadap terhambatnya kegiatan pembelajaran pada jenjang SMK dimana karakter pembelajarannya lebih bersifat praktik. Sayangnya guru kimia SMK di kabupaten Malang tidak semuanya terbiasa membuat media pembelajaran berbasis daring, terlebih untuk memfasilitasi kegiatan praktikum secara daring. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan adanya kerjasama antara Perguruan Tinggi, seperti kegiatan bimbingan teknis (BIMTEK) yang dilakukan oleh Jurusan Kimia FMIPA Universitas Negeri Malang kepada guru kimia SMK se-Kabupaten Malang.media pembelajaran alternatif untuk mengembangkan media berbasis daring. Salah satunya adalah virtual laboratory yang terintegrasi dengan perangkat android. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi: 1) sosialisasi program dan kerja sama ke sekolah, (2) pembinaan, serta (3) monitoring dan evaluasi. BIMTEK meliputi persiapan dan pelaksanaan kegiatan pelatihan pembuatan virtual laboratory mulai dari membuat tampilan, konten/animasi, hingga pembuatan aplikasi. Hasil yang diperolehenyatakan bahwa kegiatan BIMTEK sangat bermanfaat dan memberikan wawasan lebih terkait media pembelajaran berbasis daring.
