Abstract

This experiment was carried out to study the effect of substitution of TSI ration with rice bran fermented with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens on feed comsumtion, henday production, egg mass and feed convertion of layer. This experiment was designed using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with six treatments. Each treatment three replicates at twelve layer each. The treatment were diets which contained substitution of 20% (A), 30% (B), 40% (C), 50 % (D), 60% (E) and 70% TSI with rice bran fermented with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (F), resvectively. Feed and water was offered ad libitum. Result of this experiment showed that feed comsumtion, henday production, egg mass and feed convertion were highly affected (P<0.01) by treatment but not affected to henday production. It was concluded that substitution of 40% TSI ration with rice bran fermented with Bacillus amyloliquefaciens was decreased feed comsumtion and feed convertion of layer.

Abstract

The reseacrh was conducted in West Pasaman West Sumatera. There was a phenomenon in the research area that poultry farmers had difficulty to get maize for layer feed and the tendency of price increase of maize after the operation of feed industry. The purpose of the reseacrh were to analyze the elasticity of price transmission between producers and consumers pricing. Method of the research was a quantitative description and statistic analyze to measure elasticity of price transmission between producers and consumers pricing. Data used in the research was secondary data. The result of research revealed that elasticity of price transmission was small (η = 0,26), indicated that the price change at farmer level was lower than consumers level therefore the market of maize in West Sumatera was not efficient.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of oven temperature on the moisture content, total bacterial colonies and shelf life of salted eggs. This study uses duck eggs coast (Indian Runner) maximum 48-hour-old fresh as many as 200 eggs weighing 65-70 grams obtained from a breeder in Anduring Padang. The research used the experimental method with randomized block design (RBD), consists of 4 treatments and 5 groups as replication. Treatment A (oven temperature 70oC), B (80oC), C (90oC) and D (100oC). Eggs were roasted in the oven for 6 hours after that eggs were stored for 25 days. Variables measured were moisture content, total bacterial colonies, and shelf life of salted eggs. The results showed significantly different effects (P<0.05) on moisture content and shelf life but showed non significant effects (P>0.05) on total bacterial colonies of salted eggs. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the oven temperature of salted egg is best at 100oC with moisture content of 48.79%, total bacterial colonies 7.35 x 104 CFU/g, and 38.80 days shelf life.

Abstract

A survey to understand the profile of livestock market in West Sumatra had been conducted within three months since August to November 2012. The survey had two objectives; (a) to recognize the stakeholders of livestock markets; and (b) to classify the level of livestock market development. Eighteen livestock markets (69.2 %) have responded to fill a distributed questioner from nine districts and municipalities. Collected data were analyzed by using a simple statistical tools as well as descriptive and qualitative approach. The results showed that there were five components of stakeholders with a different role; (1) farmer, (2) farmers group, (3) middlemen, (4) traders and (5) market officers. Livestock markets could be divided into three categories; (a) big market, (b) middle market and (c) small livestock market. Each category has its own indicators. There was a need to improve the livestock market management to anticipate the external and globalization forces. Then it should be a more transparent transaction process in the internal affairs where market process and products are good, standard, healthy and halal. Therefore livestock markets require an improvement of both at their infrastructures and institutional capacity buildings.
