Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the mathematical representation ability of eighth grade junior high school students on the Pythagorean theorem material based on 3 indicators, namely visual representation, symbolic representation, and verbal representation. This study used the subject of class VIII D students at SMP 1 Mejobo. This research method uses descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. The instrument used is a mathematical representation ability test instrument with the Pythagorean Theorem material. This study uses data analysis techniques in the form of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results obtained from the research are that the representation ability of students in solving the Pythagorean Theorem material questions still needs to be improved again, because the average percentage of students' representation abilities as a whole is 53.12% so that it is in the medium category. Judging from each indicator, the ability of visual representation is included in the high category with a total percentage of 73.12%. However, for the indicator of the ability of symbolic representation or mathematical expression, it is in the medium category with a percentage of 65.83% and the verbal representation ability of students is in the low category with a percentage of 19.37%.

Abstract

Statistical literacy skills have an essential role in various fields of life, one of which is education. This study describes students' statistical literacy skills in solving PISA model questions. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative. The research subjects were students of class VIII Junior High School. Collecting data in this study using tests and interviews. The purposive sampling technique was used to sample 6 students, categorized into three, namely high, medium, and low. Data analysis was carried out using the Mile and Huberman model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that students in the high and medium categories met all indicators of statistical literacy skills, namely understanding information, processing data, interpreting data, and evaluating. Students in the low category cannot master the evaluation indicators due to several internal factors.

Abstract

Covariational reasoning is important for students because it is a basic ability to master mathematical concepts. However, in reality many students have difficulty in working on covariational reasoning. One of the factors that influence covariational reasoning is cognitive style. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze covariational reasoning based on cognitive style. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research on prospective mathematics teacher students as many as 4 people taken from 31 people. The research instrument used in this study was GEFT to determine cognitive style, covariational reasoning worksheets, and interviews. The results showed that subjects with FIK and FIL cognitive styles only met MA 3, but FIL had erroneous thoughts. Meanwhile, FDK only met MA 2 and FDL met MA 1. In general, subjects with FI cognitive style had better covariational reasoning abilities than subjects with FD cognitive style.

Abstract

Kebijakan pelaksanaan pembelajaran saat pandemi covid-19 secara daring, membutuhkan adaptasi terhadap ketersediaan sumber belajar yang relevan dengan perkembangan teknologi informasi dan mudah diakses oleh mahasiswa. Ketersediaan buku digital yang relevan dengan materi struktur aljabar yang bisa di akses mahasiswa masih sangat terbatas dan umumnya masih berbahasa inggris. Tujuan  penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan buku digital interaktif sebagai sumber belajar mata kuliah Struktur Aljabar yang valid dan praktis. Penelitian pengembangan yang digunakan adalah model Alessi dan Trollip yang meliputi tiga tahap 1) planing, 2) design, dan 3) development, serta tiga komponen atribut 1) standards, 2) ongoing evaluation, dan 3) project management. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi angket respon mahasiswa terhadap pembelajaran selama masa pandemi covid-19, angket validasi ahli, dan angket respon mahasiswa terhadap buku digital interaktif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa buku digital yang dikembangkan valid (79,3%) dan sangat praktis (87,5%). Buku digital yang dihasilkan berkontribusi dalam pelaksanaan flipped Classroom di perguruan tinggi khususnya matakuliah Struktur Aljabar.

Abstract

 Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian design research tipe validation study yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan learning trajectory pada pembelajaran geometri topik geometri tiga dimensi untuk menunjang kemampuan berpikir kualitatif siswa dengan pendekatan Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT). Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) akan disempurnakan sepanjang pembelajaran yang dilakukan di dalam kelas. Kegiatan dibuat dan dirancang dalam bentuk lembar kerja siswa (LKPD) untuk menunjang proses pembelajaran. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XII SMA Negeri 1 Palembang, sedangkan kelompok fokus penelitian ini adalah 6 siswa dengan kemampuan yang bervariasi yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah yang dipilih berdasarkan hasil prestasi yang didokumentasikan oleh guru dalam semester sebelumnya serta rekomendasi guru mata pelajaran matematika. Ada tiga tahapan dalam melakukan penelitian ini, yaitu: (1) preparing the experiment; (2) design experiment dibagi menjadi preliminary experiment dan teaching experiment; (3) retrospective analysis. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dan akan dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lintasan belajar yang dibuat menggunakan tingkat berpikir kualitatif dengan indikator yang sering terlihat pada siswa kelas XII MIPA 7 SMA Negeri 1 Palembang adalah indikator visualisasi dan pelabelan. Lintasan belajar yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini didasarkan pada LKPD yang telah dilakukan oleh siswa dimana masalah berkontribusi untuk membangun micro teaching dalam pembelajaran dimensi ketiga. (10pt)This research is a research design type validation study that aims to develop a learning trajectory on the study of geometry topics of three-dimensional geometry to support students' qualitative thinking skills with a Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) approach. Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) will be refined throughout the lesson carried out in the classroom. The activities were created and designed using student worksheets (LKPD) to support the learning process. The subjects of the study were students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang class XII, meanwhile, the focus group of this study was 6 students with varied abilities, namely high, medium, and low who were selected based on the achievement result documented by the teacher in the previous semester as well as the recommendations of teachers of mathematics subjects. There are three stages in conducting this research, namely: (1) Preparation Phase; (2) Design experiments divided into pilot experiments and teaching experiments; (3) retrospective analysis. Research data is collected and will be analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the learning trajectory made using qualitative thinking levels with indicators often seen in students of SMA Negeri 1 Palembang class XII MIPA 7 is an indicator of visualization and labeling. The learning trajectory obtained from this study is based on LKPD that has been done by students where the problem contributes to building micro-teaching in third-dimensional learning.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has an impact on the need for innovative resources and is able to solve problems properly. This makes education an important thing to pay attention to and one of them is with mathematics subjects. One of the focuses in mathematics is the HOTS problem where in its application and work, each student is different. The purpose of this study is to describe the ability of mathematical literacy in solving HOTS problems. The method used in this study is qualitative with data tringaluation. The stage of this study is the collection of data as a whole using two questions that are shared with all students and supported by interviews. The results of this study show that overall mathematical literacy skills in students, the use of HOTS-type mathematics problems in mathematics learning is able to achieve mathematical literacy indicators. However, the mathematical literacy ability in students is different, namely male students have better literacy than female students in solving HOTS problems. Male students can solve problems completely and in sequence, while female students are less coherent in doing the questions.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel dengan penerapan Teori Bruner. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 4 Sambi. Data yang dikumpulkan berupa data tes tertulis siswa berupa jawaban siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah kontekstual Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel untuk mengetahui kemampuan komunikasi matematis dalam menyelesaikan masalah menurut Teori Bruner. Data hasil wawancara berupa jawaban siswa atas pertanyaan yang diberikan secara lisan untuk mendapatkan informasi tambahan mengenai kemampuan komunikasi siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah menurut Teori Bruner. Data dokumentasi berupa foto dan arsip jawaban tes siswa yang dilakukan pada tanggal 28 Maret 2022. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes tertulis, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tiga cara, yaitu: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa 43% siswa memiliki tingkat kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi dalam menyelesaikan masalah menurut Teori Bruner, dimana siswa dapat menyelesaikan soal matematika dengan  menuliskan informasi yang diketahui dari soal yang diberikan menggunakan bahasa sendiri, mentransformasikan informasi yang diketahui dalam bentuk notasi/ simbol matematika, serta mengevaluasi jawabannya menggunakan gambar/ grafik dengan baik. Terdapat 36% siswa memiliki tingkat kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang, dimana siswa hanya mampu memenuhi beberapa indikator komunikasi matematis dan 21% siswa memiliki tingkat kemampuan komunikasi matematis rendah belum dapat memenuhi indikator komunikasi matematis dengan baik. Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Matematis, Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel, Teori Bruner

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' mathematical power viewed from the students' critical thinking skills. This study was conducted at State Junior High School 3 Polokarto. The subjects of the study were determined using the snowball sampling technique. The research instrument was in the form of essay test questions and interview guidelines. The triangulation method was used as a reference to check the data. The data were analyzed using data collection, data reduction and data categorization, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that 1) students with high critical thinking skills have good mathematical reasoning abilities with deductive mathematical reasoning models and they also have good mathematical communication and mathematical connections; 2) students with moderate critical abilities have deductive mathematical reasoning abilities with poor mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication skills, but they have good mathematical connections as e students have a longer time in understanding oral questions than written questions; and 3) students with low critical thinking skills have low mathematical deductive reasoning abilities, mathematical communication, and mathematical connections. The low students' mathematical power is caused by the difficulty in understanding the problem.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi level berpikir geometris mahasiswa calon guru matematika berdasarkan teori van Hiele. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada semester genap tahun akademik 2021/2022 di Universitas Tidar. Subjek penelitian adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika sebanyak 112 mahasiswa, yang terdiri dari 39 mahasiswa semester II, 37 mahasiswa semester IV, dan 36 mahasiswa semester VI. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode tes. Instrumen tes yang digunakan berupa Van Hiele Geometry Test (VHGT) yang dikembangkan oleh Usiskin (1982) pada CDASSG Project yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia. VHGT berupa tes pilihan ganda berisi 25 butir soal yang disusun ke dalam 5 subtes. Masing-masing subtes mewakili satu level berpikir geometris van Hiele. Setiap subtes terdiri dari 5 butir soal pilihan ganda dengan 5 pilihan jawaban. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa calon guru matematika mencapai semua level van Hiele. Terdapat 6,25% mahasiswa pada level 1 (visualization), 50,00% mahasiswa berada pada level 2 (analysis), 11,61% mahasiswa berada pada level 3 (ordering), 1,79% mahasiswa berada pada level 4 (deduction), dan 0,89% mahasiswa berada pada level 5 (rigor). Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa sebanyak 29,46% mahasiswa pada kategori “no fit”.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan dan mengetahui keefektifan Elektronik Lembar Kerja (LKPD) berbasis problem based learning sehingga dapat meningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masala matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE, berdasarkan prosedur pengembangannya meliputi analisis, desain, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Adapun subjek penelitian yaitu siswa kelas X SMA Adhyaksa I Kota Jambi pada tahun 2021/2022. Peneliti melakukan uji coba dengan membagi dua kelompok yang terdiri dari enam siswa yang disebut kelompok kecil, dan lima belas siswa pada kelompok besar. Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitia yaitu angket validasi ahli, angket uji coba perorang, uji coba kelompok, dan tes kemampuan pemecaan masalah siswa. Analisis data mengguakan statistic deskriptif yang dijelaskan menggunakan angka dan uraian kalimat. Hasil penelitian yaitu pengembangan E-LKPD berbasis PBL dengan memperhatikan Kurikulum, kebutuhan peserta didik, melihat ketidak seimbangan kinerja, rencana pembelajaran, dan sumber pembelajaran. sehingga, E-LKPD berbasis PBL terbukti efektif berdarkan hasil kemapuan siswa yang meningkat.Electronic Worksheets (LKPD) problem-based learning so that they can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. This study uses the ADDIE development model, based on the development procedures including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were students of class X SMA Adhyaksa I Jambi City in 2021/2022. The researcher conducted a trial by dividing into two groups consisting of six students called small groups, and fifteen students in large groups. The instruments used in the study were expert validation questionnaires, individual test questionnaires, group trials, and student problem-solving ability tests. Data analysis used descriptive statistics which were explained using numbers and sentence descriptions. The results of the research are the development of PBL-based E-LKPD by paying attention to the curriculum, student needs, seeing performance imbalances, lesson plans, and learning resources. Thus, PBL-based E-LKPD is proven to be effective based on the results of increased student ability.
