Abstract

Background of the study: This study discusses how a user perspective to the website of the Archives of Gadjah Mada University (UGM). Focusing on UGM students who actively use the services and service UGM Archives Agency website.Purpose: So that information is available in the library and archives can be reached by information seekers, the library / archives should be able to take advantage of their nature, either by setting up a website to allow users to search for information and can be accessed anywhere.Method: The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive Supported by the theory of methods PIECES, The technique of collecting data and information used by the researchers that conduct depth interviews with informants.Findings: The results of this study indicate that, overall layout and interface of the website of the Archives of UGM has been very good and the navigation system is very easy to understand, but accessing the collection of information alone users simply find it difficult, because they have to follow the procedures are quite complicated and have to wait for the information they need.Conclusion: If users need information and want to be accessible, then the user must come directly to the UGM Archives Agency.

Abstract

Background of the study: Development of information and communication technology (ICT)Purpose: This research analyzes that using Internet technology of things (IOT), for example in managing large archive-based computing can help archivists to master the technology used in the Industry 4.0.Method: The author uses the method of hermeneutics Ricoeur (Hermeneutics Phenomenology). Hermeneutics method that seeks to bring interpreters at a better understanding of themselves through the activity of which is known as an appropriation. In this hermeneutic, activity is not a dichotomy between the subjective dimension of the subject and the object objectivity.Activities interpret these methodological least cover four categories, namely: objectivation through the structure, distances through writing, distances through the world of the text, and appropriation (or sense of self).Findings: As archivists need to consider the possibility that our jobs become more technical and complex if it wants to stay in the Industry 4.0. As an experienced in archival work, the author himself is still difficult to imagine what it might be like if the archival work associated with the field of biotechnology and nanotechnology as the convergence of these two areas are the development of the field of archives is not too obvious. However, considering that ICT is still the main technology, the authors will be focused in this area just by paying attention to the ongoing trend in this field in relation to archiving.Conclusion: The constancy of this profession will depend on his response to the growing challenges of the digital world and the adaptation of professionalism does.

Abstract

Background of the study: The background of this research is to see the participation and consistency of the surrounding community in preserving ancient manuscripts in Nagari Koto Padang. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study and find out community participation in preserving ancient manuscripts in Nagari Koto Padang, Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra. Method: This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, data collection is done through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Findings: From this study it can be concluded that: (1). Community participation / participation in preserving an ancient manuscript or manuscript in Nagari Koto Padang is only limited to efforts to maintain the existence of the manuscript; (2). Carry out preventive preservation by the heirs of the manuscript by maintaining the manuscript so that it is not exposed to dust, insect attack, and maintaining air temperature or humidity so that the manuscript is not damaged, and do not forget the manuscript is kept in a safe storage; in addition, script activists also carry out curative preservation by using media transfer or what is commonly referred to as digitalization, describing the contents in a manuscript, and compiling cataloging of manuscripts; and (3). In preserving a manuscript there are obstacles that are lacking funds and operational equipment from the community, and minimal community / knowledge in preserving a manuscript. Conclusion: The Dharmasraya Regency Government and the Adityawarman Museum are advised to support the preservation of ancient manuscripts (both in physical form and the information contained therein) to provide funds and training to the community in preserving ancient manuscripts in Nagari Koto Padang.

Abstract

Background of the study: Libraries have various challenges in maintaining their existence as information providers. Libraries must have support so that users do not turn to other services, have special strategies to connect themselves, establish good relationships, and provide user loyalty.Purpose: The purpose of this agreement is to describe the promotion strategy as an effort to encourage the loyalty of university library users.Method: The method used in this research is literature study and also uses the author's active participation observation method as a librarian in the university library.Findings: According to the results of research and literature study by the author, various university libraries provide various types of businesses. The results of the author's discussion there are several discussions about the library promotion strategy arrangement published; (1) Discussion of steps and targets in publicizing and promoting information services; (2) determining the promotion goals by specifying the type of user; (3) a budget is issued; (4) selecting the media used for publication and promotion; (5) evaluating various types of media that have been used; (6) the promotion process in terms of human resources, infrastructure, and various types of librarian activities.Conclusion: With the arrangement of the strategic promotion library model, the authors submit an opinion about the college library that provides a promotional strategy as a promotional container and guarantee self-existence.

Abstract

Background of the study: TQM or commonly referred to as Total Quality Management organizational culture is focused on the achievement of quality and enhance sustainable manner through every activity of the organization.Purpose: This study specifically aims to: (1) determine the understanding of leadership and staff to the concepts of TQM in the Library of Padang State University (UNP); (2) obtain a picture of how the managerial based TQM activities undertaken to realize the quality of library services in the UNP.Method: This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data collection was done by interview, observation, and analyzing data.Findings: The subjects were leaders, heads of sub-section, the library staff, user, events, facts, documents and other forms of efforts, programs or activities of the library.Conclusion: The object of this research is carried out TQM system in the library of the UNP.

Abstract

Background of the study: literacy skills of librarianPurpose: This study aims to identify the information literacy skills of librarians in meeting the information needs a user at the public library in the city of Bogor.Method: This study used a qualitative approach with the case study method. Data were collected through observation and interview. The informants of six people selected using purposive sampling, with the criteria set librarian of Library Science education. Information literacy models used in this study are a model Empowering Eight, consisting of identification, exploration, selection, organization, creation, presentation, assessment and application information..Findings: The results showed that the information literacy librarian at the public library in the city of Bogor in meeting the information needs user already applied include a component on the identification, exploration, presentation, assessment, and application.Conclusion: There are some capabilities that cannot be applied to the maximum, including component selection, organization and creation of information.

Abstract

Background of the study: In villages, land documents, especially for land that has not been certified or commonly referred to as traditional land, often triggers problems. Customary land, which is often called girik, petok, rincik, ketitir, letter C or others, is not supported by adequate documents. Even if there is in the community, the condition is often problematic, whether it's torn, the paper is fragile, and damaged, or ink that has been difficult to read. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore the management of village-based land records through the digitization of land titles stored in villages or villages. Method: The methodology used in this research is through direct assistance to village officials to practice the digitalization and regulation of land records based on archival rules. Findings: The findings of this study are that the archives of the villagers' land are often stored just like that in the village, making them vulnerable to damage, loss and hard to find again. With the rules of archival science and digitizing land records, the process of meeting will be easier again. Conclusion: This research has a theoretical and practical impact. Theoretically provide insight into digitizing vital archives. Whereas practically, if the management of land records can be carried out well, then the potential for land conflicts can be reduced to a minimum.

Abstract

Bckground of the study: Digital curation activities are necessary for organizing digital archives to be accessible to the present and future. The problem in this research is that information and library management (MIP) students who have previously received records management (MRA) courses through digital curation have not fully implemented digital curation in managing digital archives.Purpose: This study aims to find out how MIP students curate digital archives of their photos and documents on the smartphone.Method: The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive approach and technique. Data used in interviews with five MIP students as informants.Findings: The results show that information in conducting digital curation activities such as digital object evaluation and discussion, life cycle and digital object management on an ongoing basis, and keeping them accessible, each individual has a unique and different way.Conclusion: Factor needs, memories, and usefulness of digital archive become a more determining factor in students in digital curation.

Abstract

Background of the study: This study discusses the archival publication virtual services through exhibitions, published by ANRI (National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia). This study will analyze publication of content displayed through the virtual archival exhibition.Purpose: The aim is to look at aspects of the publication of archives, selecting and uploading information or document to the web or the site, repackaging information, and using technology. Archived publication is the dissemination of information about archives for the community, one kind of activities that are by holding a virtual exhibition. The virtual exhibition Allows visitors in the number of simultaneous accesses to one collection entity and Provides information quickly intervening and mainly via the web.Method: This study uses qualitative methods of content analysis. Methods of collecting the data through observation on ANRI Virtual Exhibition and literature studies.Findings: The discussion was further reviewed restaurants by using perspectives on aspects of archival publications, archival exhibitions, and archive exhibition virtualization. The results that can be obtained are ANRI roommates virtual conducts archival exhibitions through the JIKN at https://jikn.go.id. Displaying two themes, the history of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Treasury of the UNESCO Certificate of Archives. The virtual archival exhibition is an excellent publication from ANRI to present information from the archive so that it can be easily accessed by the public. But at this virtual archival exhibition, there are still several menus and features are still empty.Conclusion: The advice that can be given is to add back the content, features and media information offered to visitors through the virtual archival exhibition. The addition of content managers, is also competencies needed to the make virtual archival exhibitions more interactive

Abstract

Background of Study: The library has an important role in supporting the process of education and research in a university. Students need a library as a place to study, discuss, work on assignments, or do research. But sometimes students who visit the library feel uncomfortable and confused about the condition they are facing that is usually known as library anxiety.Purpose: This study aims at identifying library anxiety among Graduate School Students in Gadjah Mada University, and examine several factors considered to affect library anxiety, namely barriers to service by librarians, affective, library comfort, knowledge of the library, mechanical/technological, information retrieval, regulation, resources.Method: This is aquantitative deductive research, using a survey approach. The population were Graduate School Students at Gadjah Mada University, with a total sample of 60 students taken by purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires. The data were analyzed using smartPLS 3.0.Finding: The results showed that 95% of Graduate School students at Gadjah Mada University experienced library anxiety. There are 8 factors that affecting library anxiety of Graduate School Students in Gadjah Mada University, namely barriers to service by librarians, affective, library comfort, knowledge of the library, mechanic/technology, information retrieval, regulation, resources.Conclution: The library anxiety experienced by Graduate School students in Gadjah Mada University is 100% influenced by those 8 factors tested in this study.
