Abstract

Shrimp flavor including one of the high-value product that can be produced from the sap biduri protease activity. This research intends to know the concentration of biduri protease isolated and reaction times that result high-quality shrimp flavor. Achievement of objectives has been applied randomized block design with factorial treatment pattern that consists of two factors, namely the biduri protease concentration factor with three levels and hydrolysis time factor with three levels. Observed parameters include water content, soluble protein content and organoleptic quality of shrimp flavor. The results obtained indicate the concentration of biduri protease having an affect on the water content, soluble protein content and organoleptic quality, while the hydrolysis time having an affect only on the soluble protein content and organoleptic quality. The highest soluble protein content (71.65%) and the lowest water content (11.08%) was found in the combination of biduri protease concentration of 2.5% for 2 hours hydrolysis.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the diversity of morphological and genetic variation of the Anopheles sp. This study was conducted in the periode of November 2013 - February 2014 in two (2) malaria endemic areas; Labuan Village, in North Donggala and Lalombi Village, in South Banawa of South Donggala Regency. Sample collection was done around cattle cage throughout the night between 18:00 to 6:00. The capture period was 15 minutes oh each, and it was done in every hour. The collection was done by using an aspirator and the sampel was stored in paper cup prior covered by gauze pads. Morphological identification of samples was performed at Entomology Laboratory, Vector Borne Disease Research and Development Unit Donggala. Identification was done based on O'connor and Soepanto (1981). Analysis of genetic was done by RAPD-PCR method. Morphological identification found that there were three (3) species of mosquitoes from the two (2) sites, namely An. tesselatus, An. subpictus, and An. vagus. The highest spesies diversity index obtained in the Lalombi village with H' = 1,07 and the lowest value in the Labuan village with a value of  H' = 0,33. RAPD analysis showed that there were similarity on DNA amplification band patterns on An. tesselatus from the village of Labuan  and it from  Lalombi. But interestingly, there were different on DNA amplification pattern of An. vagus from these two sites.  This  results indicating that the there was genetic variation on An. vagus from these two different villages, even though its have similarity in morphological characters.

Abstract

One target on Cacao breeding program is to develop superior clone which resistance against major pest and diseases. In present time, Pod Rot disease is one of serious problem on the Cacao plantation system, including over the area of Central Sulawesi. The aim of this study was to identifiy the resistancy on five different clones of cacao (ICCRI 1, ICCRI 3, ICCRI 4, Local Sidondo and Green Local Sausu) from local farming in Central Sulawesi against Phytophthora pot rot infection based on detached pod assay. Sample were collected from the farming area of Sigi Biromaru, Palolo, and Sausu, over the harvesting period of February - May 2014. Mature and healthy pods were detached from the plant, then artificially inoculated by using Phytophthora-infected pericarp. Pod rot symptom and spreading area of fungi  were observed dialy, then total area of  infection on day-6 was used as disease rating scale. The outcome data showed that all pod of the clones were classified as a highly susceptible clones against pod rot disease. However, pod resistance level of each clones were statisfically different. Green Local Sausu and Local Sidondo were more resistant than other clones.  This result suggesting that Local clones have been developing resistancy mechanism against Pod Rot disease.

Abstract

ABSTRACT A research on influence methanol extracts concentration of fruit peel rambutan (N. lappaceum L.), concerning physical stability of creams antioxidant had been done. This research aims to obtain an antioxidant cream formulation O/W type from rambutan fruit peel extracts and compares activity of the antioxidant cream with extract from fruit peel rambutan with using free radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) scavenging activity. A total of 500 grams of fruit rambutan peel extracted with 80% methanol by maceration method and then extract obtained made antioxidant cream O/W type with the variation of the concentration of extract 1%, 2%, and 3% to the total weight of the cream. Evaluation of physical stability of creams includes organoleptic testing, creaming, viscosity testing and drop size of dispersed phase inversion before and after the storage conditions during the 12-hour accelerated alternately at 5°C and as many as 10 cycles of 35°C. Organoleptic observations show no change in color and odor on the third-cream formula. The research was used a completely randomized design and the data obtained were analyzed statistically distinguished by ansira on the confidence level. Statistical analysis shows that the concentration of rambutan fruit peel extracts give significant effect on the viscosity cream before and after accelerated storage conditions, while the size of the drops dispersed showed no significant effect. In this study, showed that no phase of inversion and creaming from all of cream. Formulation of skin creams with methanol extract of the fruit rambutan 1% cream can be categorized as the most stable, continuing antioxidant activity test showed that the cream with a concentration of extract 12,359 ppm, which inhibits 50% of free radicals.

Abstract

The organic photovoltaic cells (OPV) characteristics depend on several factors, i.e.: device structure, morphology of the active layer, and the active materials. These characteristic can be varied due to the applied treatment in the fabrication. The characteristic variations of OPV can be observed through the electrical parameters. These parameters can be extracted from the I-V curve. The purpose of this paper is to show that the two-diode model accurately extract the electrical parameters of several I-V curves comparing to the one-diode model. The model is built using the MATLAB program. The simulation results is given the average correlation value (R2) is 0.999 which shows that the extracted electrical parameters is valid to be used in the further analysis.
