Abstract

Artikel ini menginvestigasi perbedaan konotasi istilah warna dalam masyarakat barat (pengguna Bahasa Inggris) dan Masyarakat Suku Sasak Lombok Indonesia dengan perhatian khusus pada penggunaan figuratif warna hitam, putih, abu-abu, coklat, kuning, merah, hijau, biru dan beberapa warna lainnya. Konotasinya dinilai berdasarkan apakah frasa-frasa di mana istilah warna terjadi biasanya ortofemistik, eufemisme, atau disfemistik. Berdasarkan analisis dan pembahasannya, dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal; bahwa secara kuantitas, pemaknaan secara orthopemis, eufimis, serta disfemis masyarakat barat lebih kaya dibandingkan dengan pemaknaan yang ada pada masyarakat suku Sasak. Dalam masyarakat barat, pemaknaan orthophemik lebih sering terjadi, sementara pemaknaan secara eufimis dan disfemis, sering juga terjadi walaupun intensitasnya tidak sama seperti dalam orthophonemik, dan ini merata kita temukan dalam semua warna di masyarakat barat apakah untuk warna primer maupun warna sekunder. Sementara itu, dalam masyarakat suku Sasak makna orthopemik, eufimis, dan disfemis hanya dapat ditemukan pada warna primer. Sementara warna sekunder (warna yang berasal dari percampuran warna lain), hampir jarang ditemukan pemaknaan konotasi yang bersifat eufimis, dan disfemis. Kalaupun ada, itupun dikarenakan karena masyarakat mengambil atau meminjam istilah atau frase itu dari bahasa lain. Kekayaan pemaknaan konotatif warna pada masyarakat disebabkan karena proses semiosisnya dipengaruhi oleh cara pandang, kekayaan budaya, kekayaan pengalaman, kejadian yang beragam yang terjadi pada masyarakat barat berbeda dengan apa yang terjadi dengan masyarakat suku Sasak.

Abstract

Baca-baca Sanro Ana’ merupakan ketidakjelasan bentuk dan kekaburan makna yang diyakini masyarakat Bugis di Sulawesi Selatan dalam kelahiran tradisional menggelitik dan mendorong untuk mengungkapkannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tradisi dan religi yang menjadi kepercayaan dibungkus dalam baca-baca sanro ana’ yang berupa mantra atau sastra yang sangat tradisional. Bentuknya yang berupa puisi lama yang terdiri dari pembuka, isi dan penutup. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan berorientasi pada tuturan berupa mantra atau baca-baca sanro ana’ itu sendiri. Data didapatkan dengan melakukan observasi, wawancara, merekam, mencatat. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bentuk mantra sanro ana’ adalah puisi lama atau puisi tradisional yang terdiri dari beberapa baris, namun tidak memiliki rima yang beraturan. Bentuk mantra yang berupa puisi lama yang terdiri dari pembuka, isi dan penutup. Mantra tidak dapat dimaknai secara langsung dari setiap kata yang terdapat dalam mantra sanro ana’, sebab kata-katanya bermakna metafora atau ungkapan perumpamaan. Mantra yang diungkapkan oleh sanro ana’ pada tradisi tujuh bulanan merupakan bahasa yang bermakna kekuatan, proses kelahiran dalam tahap kesakitan bermakna kemudahan, serta saat keluarnya bayi dari kandungan ibu sanro ana’ meniupkan atau membacakan mantranya yang mengandung yang bermakna keselamatan. Mantra terdiri atas beberapa jenis berdasarkan fungsi dan kegunaannya karena berhubungan denga alam gaib, dan menggunakan pilihan kata pengungkapan yang tepat. Mantra berfungsi sebagai alat utama bagi Sanro Ana’, pengintegrasian diri dengan Tuhan penciptanya alam semesta, permintaan izin kepada unsur yang terdapat dalam diri manusia, penolak bala’ dan doa pengharapan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengembangkan multimedia pembelajaran kosakata Arab Pesma Al-Hikam Malang; (2) mengungkapkan kualitas multimedia pembelajaran ditinjau dari aspek isi, pembelajaran, tampilan, dan pemrograman; (3) mengetahui aspek daya tarik multimedia pembelajaran yang dikembangkan; (4) mengetahui ketuntasan belajar santri setelah belajar dengan menggunakan multimedia pembelajaran kosakata Arab Pesma Al-Hikam Malang. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan. Validator penelitian ini adalah satu orang ahli bidang studi bahasa Arab dan satu orang ahli multimedia pembelajaran. Subjek coba penelitian terdiri dari tiga santri untuk uji coba satu-satu dan dua puluh santri untuk uji coba kelompok besar. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini adalah angket, pedoman observasi, dan soal pre-test dan post-test. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) pengembangan multimedia pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Arab kelas I Pesma Al-Hikam Malang melalui enam langkah, yaitu: menganalisis, mendesain, memproduksi, memvalidasi, merevisi, dan mengujicoba; (2) kualitas multimedia pembelajaran yang dikembangkan ditinjau dari aspek isi, pembelajaran, tampilan, dan pemrograman adalah baik. Dengan menggunakan rentang skor 1 sampai 5, aspek isi menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,75, aspek pembelajaran menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,71, aspek tampilan menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,87, dan pemrograman menunjukkan skor rata-rata 3,75; (3) aspek daya tarik menunjukkan bahwa multimedia pembelajaran yang dikembangkan sangatmenarik: pada uji coba satu-satu, dari tiga santri yang diobservasi, dua santri menunjukkan daya tarik produk sangat menarik, satu siswa menunjukkan daya tarik produk menarik; pada uji coba kelompok besar, dari dua puluh santri, dua belas santri menunjukkan daya tarik produk sangat menarik, delapan santri menunjukkan daya tarik produk menarik; dan (4) penggunaan multimedia pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Arab berdampak baik terhadap ketuntasan belajar santri: pada uji coba kelompok besar, dari 20 santri, terdapat 19 santri (95%) yang tuntas belajar dalam pembelajaran kosakata bahasa Arab kelas I Pesma Al-Hikam Malang.

Abstract

The researcher is aimed at comparing the derivational morphemes exist in sasak language and English language. This comparison leads into the construction of new words variation to build a complete sentence bot in English and in Sasaknese. By comparing the derivational morphemes between Sasak language and English language, some similarities and differences of both languages truly revealed. The similarities between them brought the easiness to the students of Sasak while learning English. Conversely, the differences caused difficulties the students who are learning English. The comparison between these two languages derivational morphemes hopefully brought some positive effects on students’ English mastery particularly the mastery of vocabularies and the process that made them up. An in-depth study on how those derivational morphemes in both languages are different were conducted for the sake of the data complete of the study. The interview section of the research was conducted among the experts of those two languages to support the filed data needed in the research. The data collected through the interview process istranscribed and reduced based on research need for the sake of answering the research question. The research conclusion said that some derivational morphemes exited in the Sasak were also found in English derivational morpheme process which then translated into some easiness can be found during English study process of the students who speak Sasak as their first language.

Abstract

As an English teacher, communicating through English language properly and thoroughly is highly required particularly at Senior High School level. They are expected to communicate politely since teachers are the role model of teaching. As a professional teacher, English teachers must have professional competencies such as speech acts proficiencies. Speech act is included into spoken English and is taught in Senior High School level in order to develop students’ communicative competence. This is a descriptive qualitative research and is aiming at describing pedagogical knowledge of English teachers on speech acts in Senior High School level of West Nusa Tenggara. The knowledge itself is divided into some branches, they are the ability to define speech acts, ability to identify speech acts conversation and ability to identify speech act utterances. The researcher conducted the interview to collect the data. The data are obtained from the interview and the tape recorder to record the interview process. After analyzing the data, the researcher found that Senior High School teachers mostly can answer questions about speech acts. They can define speech acts, they can identify the speech act conversations and they can identify the speech act utterances. In conclusion, the knowledge of speech acts of Senior High School teachers is categorized very good because they can answer most questions correctly. Therefore, Senior High School teachers fulfill professional language competencies; they comprehend teaching materials and have good pedagogical skills.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the correlation between students’ anxiety and learning motivation towards students speaking skill at SMPN 19 Mataram. This research is a quantitative, counting the data used multiple correlation . The sample of this study consisted of 44 students; the instrument used in this study was an oral test and questionnaires that belongs to anxiety and motivation. Data analysis technique is multiple correlation. The findings of the study showed that the r-test was 0.618 and 0.624. This showed that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and as average score is high, Then the result in F- table shows that Fh>ft (21,81375>3,22). From the findings of this study, it is recommended that teachers can fixed students’ anxiety and teachers build the motivations students in teaching speaking skill.

Abstract

This journal point on the analysis of history in “Kite Runner” novel by Khaled Hosseini in 2003. Many countries ever happened civil war, then the author pour it into literary work, it likes Afghanistan civil war in this novel. The story in this novel told about the beauty of Kabul was replaced by disturbance of the conflict that destroyed Afghanistan. Furthermore, the object of the research is history of Afghanistan civil war in “Kita Runner” novel by Hosseini in 2003 viewed from H. A. Taine phrase. As basic concept and framework thinking, the researcher used elements of race, milieu and moment from historical approach purposed by Taine in Guerin et al (2005). Qualitative descriptive method used as method presenting result, also used primary and secondary data as method to collect data. The researcher found that Afghanistan civil war in this novel is real history occurred in Afghanistan from 1978 until present. From the analysis, it can be concluded the novel of “Kita Runner” by Khaled Hosseini in 2003 is compatible to analyze by used historical approach.

Abstract

The aim of study was to find out the effect of KWL strategy towards students’ motivation and writing achievement, as well as its correlation between them.This study applied quantitatif method with experimental study type. The technique of collecting the data of the study was using Pre-test and Post-test: the test was return test and oral test. And the data analysis technique used median, mode and mean to find the coralation between students’ motivation and writing skills. based on the explanation above, the researcher concluded that know, want to learn there was any effect towards students motivation and writing achievement. Based on the data analysis, the researcher found that the result of test using ANCOVA were accepted because the result of test by used application of SPSS 24 was F-test= 14. 972 higher than F-table = 4. 09 and sig. 0,000 lower than score of alpha 0,05. This meant that the null hypothesis (Ho) which said, “KWL strategy has no positive influenced towards students’ motivation and writing achievement.” was rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which said, “KWL strategy has positive influenced towards student Motivation and Writing Achievement” was accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Arabic language learning, teaching staffs, curriculum planning, and the Arabic language learning evaluation. This study was a field research with descriptive qualitative analysis, and a phenomenological approach. The data was collected through observation, interview, and documentation. To test the validity of the study, triangulation. The result of the study showed that; First, the process of Arabic language learning was based on the learning components of acquiring the capability on becoming an active speaker through kitabah, qiroh, simaah and the ability to examine and analyze Al-Qur’an and As-sunnah. The learning method was conveyed through speech, question and answer, qowaid, direct method, and practice at language laboratory. Textbook, whiteboard, laptop, were employed as the learning media for teaching. The learning evaluation was tested through pre-test, and post-test in direct learning, formative and summative assessment. Second, administration test, written test, oral, and teaching Arabic language practice, preferably Islamic boarding school alumni, and Arabic language-based graduate qualification, well act, and loyal were conducted to prepare the qualified teaching staffs. To increase the competence; seminar, workshop method, Arabic language learning, and training learning. Third, planning for the Arabic language learning curriculum with annual program preparation, semester program as the reference for conducting teaching and syllabus, and RPP planning were implemented as teachers’ guidance for teaching in the classroom setting. Fourth, the Arabic language learning curriculum evaluation was conducted, yet, it was not maximally performed.
