Abstract

This study is aimed at finding out the effectiveness of Mix Pair Share Strategy in teaching speaking skill at school. The study was an experimental design. The number of the sample was 48 students taken from the total number of the population which consisted of 176 students. Meanwhile, it was taken through cluster random sampling technique. The sample was also divided into two groups; experimental and control group. Each group was treated by different treatment; Mix Pair Share Strategy for the experimental group and Discussion method for the control group. The data of this study was collected through pre-test and post-test. The collected data then analyzed thoroughly. It was found that the mean score of experimental groups was higher than the score of control group (11.83>8.88), the deviation score of experimental groups was higher than the deviation of control group (2.96>2.83), and the value of t-test is higher than t-table, where t-test 5.88> t-table 2.000 for confidence level 0.05. Therefore, it is concluded that the implementation of Mix-Pair Share Strategy in teaching speaking skill at school amid Covid-19 pandemic was effective.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai manajemen pengorganisasian unit kegiatan mahasiswa (UKM) An-nadi lita’allumil lughatul arabiyah universitas islam negeri Mataram dan bagaimana pembagian tugas di UKM tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif bersifat deskriptif . Pengumpulan data digunakan dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara dengan Ra’is ‘Amm (ketua umum) An-nadi dan dokumentasi. Setelah data terkumpul dilakukan analisis data dengan: 1) reduksi data, 2) penyajian data, 3) penarikan kesimpulan. Dari penelitian ini dapat diketahui bahwa sistem pengorganisasian di UKM An-nadi sudah baik karena memiliki struktur organisasi yang jelas. Pembagian kerja atau tugas kepada anggota secara jelas dan tertulis sehingga anggota dalam menjalankan program sesuai dengan bidang dan jobnya masing-masing.

Abstract

This research uses descriptive research and data collection is done by the method of observation, documentation, and interview, all of which answer the problem of research on Authentic Assessment Model In Arabic Language Learning at the State Islamic Elementary Praya Central Lombok. The key informants in the research are Principals and fifth-grade Arabic teachers. Based on the research results, the conclusion about the model of authentic assessment in learning Arabic at the State Islamic Elementary Praya Central Lombok is 1) Find models of the three domains that were assessed namely cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. 2) Make a model of assessment rubrics for each Evaluation competence. Here is coverage that assessed the competence of the three domains, namely (1) Cognitive Domains include oral test in class, multiple-choice, objective description, description of non-objective, short answer, matching, performance / performance, and portfolios. (2) The sphere of Affective includes attitudes and interest in the Arabic language lessons, (3) Psychomotor Domains include paper and pencil tests and test performance (work samples).

Abstract

There have been numerous studies on collaborative strategic reading (CSR) in English language instruction; however, only a few of them have demonstrated its usefulness in critical reading comprehension. As a result, the purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to see how it affected students' critical reading skills when used as a teaching method in one of Lombok's private schools. There were 40 students in total, divided into two groups, one experimental and one control. To assess students' critical reading achievement, both groups were given a pre-test and a post-test, which were analyzed using the t-test method. By t-test = 2.169 and t-table = 1.679, the statistical evidence demonstrated that the experimental group considerably beat their counterparts in the control group in terms of critical reading comprehension. As a result, CSR was very helpful in cultivating students' critical reading comprehension.

Abstract

Psychological traits like anxiety have long been linked to influencing test performance. Since the Covid-19 pandemic where tests are now conducted online, what students feel and experience may be different too. This study was born to investigate the students’ anxiety level during taking tests online, which anxiety type influences their online test-taking most, and how the overall correlation is. A total of 40 students in the second semester of the English Language Education Department in UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya were asked via an online questionnaire. The result showed within 40 participants, only 6 of them were in an advanced level of English proficiency, around 452.15 on average, which had not exceeded 500 as the EFL university standards. While related to their test anxiety, anxiety management gave the most influence on their anxiety, and reading comprehension is the opposite. More importantly, related to the correlation of English proficiency and test anxiety, the result of this study showed the Pearson’s correlation coefficient between EFL learners’ anxiety and their English proficiency score is rs = -.144. It means the statistical analysis shows there was a correlation between EFL remote learners and their English proficiency test, although it was weak. It can be concluded that although students had a distant English proficiency test, the influence of their test anxiety was not really significant for weak correlation and only in a medium range.

Abstract

The rapid learning shift due to the existence of Covid-19 was mandatory to be conducted at school. Due to this matter, the teaching and learning approach has been shifted from having face-to-face interaction in the classroom to distance learning and to the mixture between face-to-face interaction and distance learning. The goal of the research was to figure out the EFL learners’ anxiety due to the rapid shift learning in this covid-19 pandemic. This study was conducted at second grade students of SMAN 8 Mataram. The finding shows that a high level of anxiety of the EFL learners’ contribute to the students speaking performance. When building communication with others, the EFL learners speaking skill were not performed well due to their high speaking anxiety. The main causes of the EFL learners anxiety were lack of confidence, fear of making mistakes, lack of practice, and low speaking skill level.
