Abstract

TikTok, as a popular social media platform among the younger generation, offers a unique potential to support English language learning through interactive short video formats. This study aims to explore the perceptions of university students as well as the challenges faced regarding the use of TikTok as creative platform in learning speaking skills. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach involving twenty-six fifth semester students as research subjects. Data were collected through open-ended questionnaire and interviews to understand students' perception and challenges regarding the use of TikTok as creative learning platform in improving students' speaking. The research results show that the majority of students have a positive perception of for TikTok as creative learning platform for its effectiveness and enjoying learning. This study also revealed several challenges faced by students, such as internet connection issues and data quota as well as difficulty in maintaining focus while studying. The research demonstrates how digital creative platforms like TikTok can enhance access to innovative and effective learning methods, support the development of essential language skills, and address challenges related to technology infrastructure.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran maharah kalam melalui video interaktif berbasis kontekstual serta menguji efektivitasnya dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa dalam Bahasa Arab. Permasalahan yang mendasari penelitian ini adalah rendahnya pemahaman siswa terhadap maharah kalam serta terbatasnya variasi media pembelajaran yang tersedia di SMP Islam Az Zahrah 1 Palembang. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan enam tahap utama, yaitu identifikasi potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, perancangan produk, validasi, revisi, serta uji coba produk. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, dokumentasi, dan penyebaran kuesioner untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai kebutuhan siswa terhadap media pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peserta didik membutuhkan media yang lebih menarik dan interaktif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dalam Bahasa Arab. Validasi yang dilakukan oleh ahli materi menunjukkan tingkat kelayakan sebesar 90% dengan kategori "sangat baik", sementara validasi oleh ahli media memperoleh skor 86,6% dengan kategori "baik". Untuk mengukur efektivitas media yang dikembangkan, dilakukan uji coba pada dua kelompok siswa, yaitu kelompok eksperimen yang menggunakan video interaktif dan kelompok kontrol yang tidak menggunakannya. Hasil perbandingan skor pre-test dan post-test dari 30 siswa menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan, dengan skor pre-test sebesar 60,1% dan skor post-test meningkat menjadi 88,1%. Selain itu, tanggapan siswa terhadap media pembelajaran ini mencapai 78%, yang menunjukkan bahwa produk ini valid dan dapat digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran. Berdasarkan temuan ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan video interaktif berbasis kontekstual efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan berbicara siswa dalam Bahasa Arab serta dapat diterapkan dalam pembelajaran di tingkat sekolah menengah. Abstract

For over a decade, the unceasing dissemination of English as a global language, consciously or not, has influenced the concepts of the ELT across the world. Some countries persist in the adaptation of the concepts of EFL or ESL in their practical ELT contexts wherein the cultures of the inner-circle countries, like the US and the British, are still dominant in their teaching materials. Others; however, prefer to alternate the ELT concepts to either EIL or ELF in their own teaching contexts in which the cultural contexts in the teaching materials are the integrations of the cultures of the inner-circles, the outer-circle, and the expanded countries or the international cultures along with their own local cultures. This paper aimed to overview the deconstruction of the formulation concepts of the cultural dominance in the ELT textbook in the context of Indonesia’s high schools. This review addresses the dichotomies of the concepts of EFL/ESL, EILand ELF along with the cultural dominances embedded on the conceptual terms. This study is literature -based research when collecting data through extensive and critical reading and analysis of existing academic works related to ELT, cultural representation, and linguistic imperialism. Thisstudy draws on existing academic works to explore how the hegemony of English is embedded in English textbooks. The result of this study shows that the linguistics imperialism continues shaping the materials and sources of ELT textbooksin Indonesia. The content and structed of Indonesian ELT textbooks highlight the cultural values and perspective of inner-circle countries. Although EFL concept is still dominated in Indonesian context, there is a growing awareness of the need to shift towards more inclusive curriculum when local content and perspective more embedded. Further, this research elucidates critical reflections on an ideology, economy, and politics of language the linguistics Imperialism, as well as possible recommendation to what possible, applicable concepts should be adjusted to the Indonesia’s ELT textbook.

Abstract

Lelakaq, a traditional poetic form of the Sasak community in Lombok, represents a cultural expression that reflects the values, social structure, and spirituality of its people. This study explores the position of Lelakaq within the cosmology, traditions, and value systems of the Sasak society using Lévi-Strauss’s structuralist approach. Lelakaq functions not only as an aesthetic medium but also as an instrument for transmitting moral, religious, and social values across generations. The findings show that Lelakaq illustrates the relationship between humans and God (hablun minallah), social relations within the Sasak community (hablun minannas), and the connection between humans and nature (hablun minal ‘alam). This tradition also records historical journeys, legends, myths, and the cultural dynamics of the Sasak people—shaped by influences from Hindu-Buddhist traditions, Balinese culture, Majapahit, Islam, and local beliefs such as Wetu Telu and Sasak Boda. Furthermore, Lelakaq serves as a means of character education that instills the values of tindih (steadfastness), maliq (avoiding prohibitions), and merang (creativity and adaptability). Through linguistic symbols and metaphors, Lelakaq conveys guidance on ethics, Islamic spirituality, awareness of mortality, and harmonious social living. In addition, the diversity of Sasak dialects enriches the forms and styles of Lelakaq, reflecting the linguistic complexity and social identity of its speakers. This study concludes that Lelakaq functions as a cultural mirror of Sasak life, intertwining tradition, religion, history, and local wisdom. Thus, Lelakaq is not merely a literary heritage but also a value system that sustains the cultural identity of the Sasak people in the face of evolving times.

Abstract

Apart from being a medium of communication, language also has various functions, one of them as a suggestion tool. There are various multi-disciplines related to language, such as sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and so on. There is also the term Eco-linguistics which connects the influence of language with the human biological environment. The slogan "Tioq Tata Tunaq" in North Lombok is the object of the researcher's study in this paper. It is felt that the slogan has a philosophical view of environmental preservation. Until now, there has been no research related to the philosophical content of the slogan "Tioq Tata Tunaq" related to environmental conservation. Therefore, the researcher has studied the slogan using an Eco-linguistic theory approach, with a dialectical linguistic method, parsing the discourse contained in each word listed in the "Tioq Tata Tunaq" slogan by finding inter-textual, intra-textual, and extra-textual elements. Besides, it also parses the key morphemes in the slogan. The researcher found that there is a close connection between the slogan "Tioq Tata Tunaq" and the preservation of the biological environment. After analyzing, the researcher found that each key of morpheme in the slogan directs its meaning to matters related to green philosophy (nature conservation). So it can be said that the slogan "Tioq Tata Tunaq" contains the philosophy of preserving nature or the biological environment. Abstract

This study investigates how the use of the interactive media Kahoot affects the Arabic grammar skills of students in class X-A at MAN 1 Lamongan in 2025. This study uses a quantitative approach and employs a one-group pretest-posttest design. 26 students, as research subjects, were given multiple-choice tests before and after the treatment. The analysis results show that the average pretest score was 57.3, which increased to 86.5 on the posttest. The t-value of -14.335 with p = 0.000 (< 0.05) indicates a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, Kahoot has a significant effect on students' grammar abilities. The research results show that Kahoot can be an interactive digital learning media alternative that can improve student engagement and learning outcomes in learning Arabic grammar.

Abstract

Understanding Nahwu in Islamic boarding schools is very important because it serves as the foundation for comprehending Arabic texts. However, many students still find it difficult to understand Nahwu material delivered by their teachers. This difficulty is caused by several factors, including differences in students’ educational backgrounds—some come from elementary schools (SD) and Islamic elementary schools (MI). In addition, their learning environment also influences their comprehension, and the textbooks used in learning are often too advanced for the MTs level. Therefore, it is necessary to develop teaching materials that are easy to understand and appropriate to the students’ abilities. This study aims to: (1) describe the development of the Nahwu Question and Answer teaching material in improving the Nahwu understanding of grade VIII students at MTs Mu’allimin NWDI Pancor, (2) identify students’ responses toward the teaching material, and (3) determine the effectiveness of the material. The research employed the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), while data collection techniques included questionnaires, tests, interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of this study are as follows: (1) The validation level of the Nahwu Question and Answer teaching material was categorized as “very valid” based on the validators’ assessments. The media expert gave a score of 100% (very valid), while the material expert gave 82% (also very valid). Based on these evaluations, the product was declared feasible to be used and tested in the learning process. (2) A total of 30 students were given questionnaires to assess the use of the Nahwu Question and Answer book. The results showed that 94.67% of respondents rated it as “excellent,” indicating that the use of this teaching material is highly feasible. (3) Learning outcomes also improved, with the average pre-test score increasing from 78.43% to 95.86% in the post-test, and a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000. Since the significance value is smaller than the established significance level(α = 0.05), it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. This proves that the use of the Nahwu Question and Answer teaching material in the learning process is highly effective in improving students understanding of Nahwu.

Abstract

Ayyamul Qawaid is one of the programs established by the management of the Central Arabic Language Dormitory. Ayyamul qawaid is the implementation of a program or rules that have been established with an agreement that has been planned to achieve the desired goal, namely what is meant here is that for three days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) Arabic language boarding school students are required to speak using good qawaid and correctly by giving harakat for each end of the lafadz uttered when speaking, thus these three days are called ayyamul qawaid for female students at the Arabic Language Center girls' boarding school. This program aims to increase female students' understanding of qawaid lughawiyah, especially female students in the mutaqoddim class. Qawaid lughawiyah is an important element to master in language learning so that the language can be understood well and correctly by listeners and readers. In this research, the problem formulation is about: How is Ayyamul Qawaid implemented and how to increase the understanding of Qawaid? This approach and type of research uses descriptive qualitative methods, data collection uses observation, interviews and documentation techniques. The results of the research are: 1) The implementation of Ayyamul Qawaid in the Central Girls' Arabic Language Dormitory is enforced through strict control by the linguistics section of the boarding house administrators, where every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday female students must speak with good and correct qaidah and are required to give the final meaning of each pronunciation. which is spoken. In its implementation, there is strict supervision of female students who violate the rules by not using correct and appropriate qawaid 2) Increased understanding of qawaid of Arabic language boarding female students, especially mutaqoddim classes, can be seen through tests carried out by qawaid teachers and language section administrators, female students have become accustomed to using the correct qawaid right when Ayyamul Qawaid takes place. The increase in students' understanding of qawaid can be seen from their daily speech, which is increasing in terms of the lugawi qaidah used when speaking.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying the Mastery Flipped Classroom learning method on students’ Arabic learning outcomes in the eleventh grade at MAS Mu’allimin NW Pancor. The Mastery Flipped Classroom method reverses the traditional learning pattern by providing materials through videos or learning resources before face-to-face sessions, allowing students to learn at their own pace and level of understanding (self-paced learning). During classroom sessions, the teacher acts as a facilitator who guides students through comprehension and enrichment activities until they reach a certain level of mastery.This research employed a quantitative approach with a True Experimental design. The research design was used a control group design involving two groups: the experimental class and the control class. Data were collected through learning achievement tests and interviews. Data analysis included normality tests, linearity tests, and t-tests using SPSS Statistics version 25. Based on the results of data analysis, the experimental class obtained an average pre-test score of 69.03 and an average post-test score of 78.2, while the control class obtained an average pre-test score of 72.5 and an average post-test score of 77.6. Furthermore, the hypothesis test showed that tcount < ttable (0.229 < 2.009), indicating that H₀ was accepted and Ha was rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is no significant effect of the Mastery Flipped Classroom method on students’ Arabic learning outcomes. The results showed an increase in the average score in the experimental class after applying the flipped classroom method; however, the improvement was not statistically significant. Thus, this method has not been proven to be more effective than conventional learning. Factors that may have influenced these results include the limited sample size, differences in students’ initial abilities, and the short duration of implementation. Moreover, some students did not fully engage in independent learning activities before class, reducing the effectiveness of the method. Nevertheless, the flipped classroom approach still had a positive impact on students’ understanding of the learning material.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of the Arabic learning book Al-‘Arabiyyah Al-Mu‘āṣirah Part I, written by Prof. Dr. Eckehard Schulz, as a teaching material in Arabic language instruction at Madrasah Aliyah Yusuf Abdussatar Kediri. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings show that the book has a systematic structure, communication-based approach, and contains vocabulary and dialogues relevant to students' daily lives. The use of this book has proven effective in improving students’ basic Arabic skills, particularly in vocabulary (mufradāt) and conversation (muḥādathah). However, some challenges were also identified, including limited teaching time, varying student language proficiency levels, and a lack of supporting media. It can be concluded that Al-‘Arabiyyah Al-Mu‘āṣirah is a suitable and beneficial teaching resource for Madrasah Aliyah students, provided it is supported by appropriate teaching strategies and adequate learning tools.
