Abstract

According to data from the Environment Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia, 59 percent of Indonesian rivers are severely Polluted. The pollutant is due to many people's and industry's behavior of discharging waste directly into the river. This liquid waste contains solids and chemical compounds that affect river water's acidity (pH). Their pollutant does not meet the Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 101/2014. Research has been carried out to manufacture an IoT-based sparing monitoring system device using RUT955 to measure the pH and TSS of industrial wastewater in remote areas. This sparring system uses two sources of electric current: PLN and the sun. Solar electricity stored in the battery is used to overcome the problem of breaking the electricity supply from PLN. The device made has been successfully connected to the internet using the webhook.site platform. Acquisition data storage is carried out using the google spreadsheet platform. The pH and TSS data measured by the sensor sent by RUT955 can be received and displayed on the internet platform. The measurement results that the sensor has carried out need to be calibrated so that the data sent is accurate.

Abstract

Suburban communities around Cilegon usually depend on urban mass transportation. The vehicle has very high mobility when peak hours. Infrequently, this consequent collision and friction between them in the crowd of traffic jams. It causes damage or crushing of their bumper. Hence, a material that has suitable qualifications is needed. One of the materials which have the potential strength to be applied as a bumper car is ramie fiber. As a fiber, this material has high tensile strength properties. In this research, we need to ensure that woven ramie-epoxy composite has a tensile strength value above the standard for car bumper material. The composite consists of woven ramie as the matrix and epoxy resin as the filler at a weight ratio of 40:60. Application curing treatment to the composite with 0-30-60-90-minute. The tensile test results are 30.6 MPa, 36,4 MPa, 36,5 MPa, and 40,8 MPa - the highest values at 90-minute CT. All tensile strength value of the composite is above the standard value required. It also found that the composite water absorption was below the limit of the standard. Based on those values, the woven ramie-epoxy composite can be considered a potent material for use as a bumper car.

Abstract

Cultivating fish in rural areas is one of the efforts to increase food security and the income of its citizens. Every villager can raise consumption and ornamental fish by making ponds in their large yard. Temperature strongly influences Fish cultivation. The high value of temperature fluctuations in the habitat can reduce feeding activity. It also affects the metabolism of the fish larvae. Temperature changes in fish habitats are affected by changes in environmental temperature. Information regarding weather forecasts is very much needed to anticipate environment temperature and humidity changes. In this study, we want to compare the results of temperature and humidity readings by wunderground.com and IoT monitoring devices toward the habitat of Polyculture Fish cultivation Pond. Both show identical temperature patterns had a deviation value is (+2 oC). Meanwhile, both results of humidity measurements appear to be inaccurate, either because they are outside the measurement value or refer to the reference data. Based on monitoring results, both methods can use monitoring the temperature and humidity of the environmental pond.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with very high mineral reserve potential. The mining sector also contributes to non-tax state revenue. Efforts to explore the content of minerals in the earth's bowels can use the seismic reflection method. This seismological principle relies on the propagation of mechanical waves whose reflections are captured and recorded using a geophone. Limitations of domestically produced seismic instrumentation can slow down exploration activities.For this reason, developing domestic geo-seismic acquisition instrumentation is necessary to support exploration activities. In this study, eight units of a Raspberry Pi-based reflection seismic logger prototype device have been made using the MEMS ADXL355 accelerometer sensor with NTP protocol synchronization. Data from the initial test results show that the eight seismic reflection loggers of the device can work simultaneously in reading the seismic waves they receive.

Abstract

We built a viscous damping coefficient measurement system that applies the principles of underdamped harmonic oscillation within viscous liquid. The scientific novelty of this paper lies on the type of sensor used to capture the oscillation. An incremental optical encoder is chosen as a motion detector due to its ability to convert angular position as well as rotation direction into a pair of square wave signals. The harmonic oscillator system consists of a spring with the spring constant value of 82.8 N/m, a 1.50 kg cylindrical mass and a 95.0 g prolate ellipsoidal mass. The data acquisition system converts the encoder output pulses into counts which represent the displacements of the oscillating mass under viscous liquid. We used a Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) temperature control system to maintain the sample temperature at a constant value. Experimental data suggests that the air resistance and the total friction of the mechanical components give good contribution to the damping effect of the mass’ harmonic oscillation. The repeatability test of the viscous damping coefficient measurement resulted 1.26975744 % of relative standard deviation

Abstract

Renewable fuels hold the key to the increasing energy demand and environmental issues. In recent years, the installed capacity of renewable energy sources has experienced rapid growth based on limited remaining oil reserves. Applying hydrogen/oxygen as fuel in combustion engines is possible. Hydrogen (H2) which burns with Oxygen (O2) in the combustion chamber, will produce H2O compounds that are environmentally friendly. In this study, we wanted to see the effect of increasing the voltage of the interface bipolar plate to increase the H2 and O2 gas molecules volume. The experimental results show that the breaking of bonds in water compounds which utilize the interaction force between fields and charges, has been affected by an increase in voltage. The time to convert the H2O compound into H2/O2 gas molecules decreases with the increasing voltage between interfacing electrodes. The voltage increase affects the Volumetric Flow Rate (VFR) of H2 dan O2 gas molecules. This study also shows that when a voltage of 10 Volts is applied at the electrode interface, charge transport occurs optimally.

Abstract

The Banana (Musa spp) was a fruit whose rate of ripening increased after harvest. The respiration rate was an indicator of the fruit’s shelf life. This cause banana to have a short shelf life and become easily damaged, necessitating the technology to reduce the ripening rate of fruit, such as coating it with biofilm. This research seeks to establish the optimal ethylene concentration on the composite chitosan PVA produced by evaporation of a colloidal chitosan solution with CNC. The produced solution was then applied to the surface of the banana using the immersion method, and seven-day changes in weight loss, color change, sugar content, and ethylene gas production were detected. Post-harvest management of bananas tries to preserve the fruit’s freshness and shelf life. The research is done to improve the shelf life of bananas by composite biofilm. The data result shows that from all variants, the composite biofilm contains chitosan, PVA, 10% glycerol, Citric acid, and 5% CNC, which is indicated to have the potential to increase the shelf life of banana fruit. Because they prevent respiration and the water evaporation processes in bananas, these properties allow banana fruits to stay fresh longer.

Abstract

In everyday life we are not deprived of a technology, one example in the application of technology in the field of machining with the use of CNC machinery, CNC is that this machine is a machine used in the manufacturing process that usually uses computerized control and machine equipment. The most dominant advantage is the speed in the production process so it is suitable for mass production. The purpose of this study is to analyze the edge wear (VB) and determine the value of the n exponent and CT constant of the equation of Taylor's peak age for the peak life of the carbide with the aluminum material and to know the influence of the speed of rotation, feed speed, and cut depth on the machining process on the peaking life of carbide. In this study there are several parameters used namely with RPM 1000, 1800, and 2000. With the movement of 0.25 mm / rev, 0.15 mm /rev, and 0.05 mm / re with the data obtained which was later analyzed, this study can conclude, the life of the carbide in the process of cutting aluminum cylinders, obtain the exponent value n = 0.39 and the CT constant at a1 = 694.45, the constant CT at a2 = 659.66, the CT constante at a3 = 666.85. Then obtaining the aging age (T) will decrease, that aging at cutting speed (Vc1) = 81.64 m / min and n1 = 1000 rpm, i.e. 240,575 min. This study is influenced by the depth of the cutting (a1) = 1 mm, at the cut speed (vc2) = 141.3 m/ min. and N1 = 1800 rpm (t) = 51.75 min., and the shortest aging time occurring at a cutting velocity (Vc3) = 153,86 m / m. This research will also affect the age of its cutting at a certain depth (n)

Abstract

One way to preserve or extend the shelf life of fishery products is by drying. However, the obstacle that exists in the community is that the preservation method is not maximized. Drying techniques using mechanical devices or artificial drying to overcome the shortcomings of conventional drying methods. In this study, drying catfish was carried out using coconut shell material as a smoking tool. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of temperature on the drying rate in a dryer with a capacity of 2 kg of starch fish as an ingredient for smoking. The inlet air variations used in this study are 0.7 m/s, 0.8 m/s, 0.9 m/s, 1.0 m/s and 1.1 m/s. The results of this study indicate that the variation of inlet air 1.1 m/s is the variation that most reduces the water content in catfish as much as 15.08%. The reduction of moisture content of the material will increase if the inlet air flow velocity is increased. The drying process is influenced by temperature and airflow velocity. The results obtained by using a dryer that uses coconut shell charcoal are very efficient and economical because coconut shell charcoal is very easy to obtain and can be obtained at an affordable price.

Abstract

In the manufacturing of a device, several types of testing are performed. Testing must be done to ensure that the designed device is completely safe for long-term use and meets existing standards. There are several tests conducted, one of which is the Hydrotest. This Hydrotest is conducted to test whether the designed device experiences leakage, particularly at weld joints, by filling pressurized water into a test device and holding it for a certain period. In this study, we aim to conduct a Hydrotest on a Pressure Vessel to see if the designed Pressure Vessel experiences leakage in its construction. From the results of the testing conducted, it was found that the designed Pressure Vessel did not experience leakage, particularly at each weld joint. Based on the Pressure and Temperature Chart Recorder, the graph indicates that there is no pressure drop, and the temperature remains within a safe range.
