Abstract

The general aim of the studi was to identify the influence of spatial and social transformation process tha had been taking place (2003) on the social prosperity of the urban fringe community. The particular aims of the study were (1) to identify the changing effects of the land function as the result of the new settlement development toward the social economic contidion of community in the urban fringe, and (2) to identify the social interaction pattern of local community.The result of the study indicated that were changing effects of the land function from cultivation land toward non-cultivation land (the harbor development) on the range of family income of the local community (social economic condition).It could be concluded that with regard to the physical change of the land, most of people who had previosly had a job in the cultivation sector moved to another job (informal sector); while the rest had never had a job. Furthermore, seen from the social economic point of view it was discovered that the research areas were expanded areas of city dwellers with their urban characteristics. factors

Abstract

Controlled Permeability Formwork (CPF) can be used to improve the strength, durability and appearance ofconcrete. This is achieved by allowing excess water and gas to escape at the surface adjacent to theformwork. This paper reports a study aimed at assessing whether such permeable formwork can be used toreduce curing times whilst maintaining durability and strength characteristics. An experimental study isdescribed where trial walls are constructed and tested at various ages following different curing periods andregimes. Results are presented that compare the outcomes of using permeable membrane with those of usinga traditional formwork. Comparisons of durability characteristics are were. The durability of the walls wasassessed by techniques such as: permeability; and water absorption. Results are presented in terms of howdifferent curing regimes can be employed to achieve equivalent characteristics. A discussion of how suchtechniques may be used to reduce construction time is presented.

Abstract

Abstract

Surabaya City represent one of the biggest city in Indonesia with level of carownership is very high . Every year the amount of vehicle continue to increase so that can give impact to traffic jam , mussy and accident of traffic.From cause aspect accident of traffic in Surabaya city in generally caused by passenger vehicle which non public transport ( private car)and motorbike.Frequency accident of traffic in range of time 5 the last year ( 1998-2002) is counted 169 accident case with amount of victim counted 192 soul. Amount of soul victim pass away counted 29 people (15,10%), hardly injured 76 people ( 39,58%) and lightly injured 87 people ( 45,31%) the root cause accident is motorbike 48,10% and car 33,38%.Component of traffic type which often involve accident is motorbike driver with road street defector. The other cause is motorbike with car. The time of the biggest traffic accident is happened at 10.00 - 14.00 WIB.

Abstract

Spearman rho correlation and chi square cross tabulation techniques were employed to analyse secondary data with regards to a case study of direct cost for building constructions in 7 (seven) regencies/city in the Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD). The first technique was used to test statistically the rank differences of variables influencing direct costs among the seven regencies/city, while the second was employed to know the differences of frequencies of contractors’ perception regarding such direct cost from 7 (seven) regencies/city. The result shows that the ranks of direct cost variables from the highest to the lowest (i.e. material cost, transportation cost of materials, equipment rental cost, equipment operational cost, worker skills related costs, basic wages, wages related to location, wages related to work types) are significantly correlated between 7 (seven) regencies/city in NAD including significant correlation to the sum of 7 (seven) regencies/city. In spite of that, there are four variables influencing direct cost showing the differences of frequencies from 7 (seven) regencies/city in NAD, namely, transportation cost of materials, equipment rental cost, wages related to work types and wages related to location condition. While material cost, equipment operational cost, basic wages, worker skills related costs show no differences.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out heat transfer rate between cooling air supply and clinker in grate cooler ofcement industry. The method used field survey with two datas. Primary data by direct measure in researchobject and others from control room. Then for the secondary data, we got from manual book of company.Grate cooler was divided into 3 sections, and the analysis performed for each section based on the principleof heat transfer through a porous medium to obtain the heat transfer coefficient, and the rate of heat transfer.Heat transfer of clinker to the cooling air was analyzed by convection and radiation. The result shows thatthe highest convection heat transfer occurs in section 2, while the highest radiation heat transfer occurs insection 1. Total heat transfer in the grate cooler is 95185.936 kW. This result will be smaller than thethermodynamic analysis, with calculation difference of 2%.

Abstract

The data and information on the condition of the housing, facility, and infrastructure with its environment are evaluated and analyzed for conclusions and recommended solution.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of sulfur on changes in mechanical properties of bitumenas a binder material. Usability research is expected to be preliminary information in estimating theadvantages and disadvantages of asphalt concrete when using material added sulfur.This research has been done in the Laboratory of Transportation and Highway, Faculty of EngineeringTadulako University, Palu.The scenario study was conducted with the manufacture of bitumen specimens with variation of sulfurcontent of 0.0%, 2.0%, 4.0%, 6.0%, 8.0% and 10.0% by weight of bitumen samples. Value mechanicalproperties of bitumen binder under study include the value of penetration, softening point, specific gravity ofbitumen, bitumen Flashpoint and Ductility. Method of inferential statistics (t-student test) at 5% significancelevel used to determine the effect of adding sulfur to the bitumen on the mechanical properties.The results of this study found that the addition of sulfur into the bitumen on the variation of 0% to 10%affect the mechanical properties of bitumen such as penetration, softening point, penetration index (PI), thespecific gravity of asphalt, asphalt ductility and Flashpoint. The study also found that the sulfur contentranges from 6% to 10% in bitumen tends to produce bitumen penetration index (PI) is positive (PI> 0) whichmeans the asphalt is less temperature susceptible.
