Abstract

Tourism development in villages can bring wealth. But rural elites use it to keep their power. This is the case in Desa Wisata Bira Tengah, Sampang Regency. The headman has strong influence in tourism at a village-owned enterprise (VOE). He does this by empowering his clients and placing his core kin in key positions. This study aims to: (1) analyze patronage and nepotism in tourism management at Desa Wisata Bira Tengah, Sampang Regency and (2) assess the impact of patronage and nepotism on tourism management. This study uses a qualitative approach. It collects data via literature studies, interviews, observations, and documents. The technique for selecting research subjects is purposive sampling. This study applies Spradley's ethnographic approach as a data analysis method. The study found that patronage occurred between the headman and the VOE director as patrons, with the employees as clients. Patrons use their authority on VOE to help clients. They provide access to work in tourism and to protection. Clients repay by backing the patron in conflicts and politics. The headman places his core kin in these roles: director VOE, head of the tourism unit, head of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), and secretary and treasurer. Patronage and nepotism have downsides. They weaken accountability and transparency, reduce employee initiative, and create exclusivity. The positive impact that has emerged is to make the team solid.

Abstract

This research seeks to analyse the relationship between halal tourism and millennial tourists' attitudes and behaviour, as well as to explore the relationship between Islamic and sustainability principles that influence the formation of responsible behaviour among millennial tourists. This research uses a descriptive analysis approach to qualitative data based on the results of a systematic literature review. A total of 45 scientific articles from reputable journal databases (Scopus, World of Science, Google Scholars, Crossref, DOAJ, and Semantic) were collected using Mendeley software to be examined based on the identification of their frameworks and concept maps. This study has proposed a new concept map that is interesting for further research, namely that the experience of travelling to destinations labelled as halal tourism influences the formation of responsible behaviour, based on the application of Islamic principles and sustainability. Unfortunately, this study is still limited to a systematic literature review focusing on the analysis of 45 scientific articles, as well as being limited to the context of the millennial generation and halal tourism in Indonesia. Therefore, the relationship between halal labelling and the responsible behaviour of millennial tourists in tourist destinations that are in line with Islamic values and sustainability still needs to be followed up with further research.

Abstract

The @jaswitatourism account is a digital promotional platform managed by PT Jaswita Jabar (Perseroda), a state-owned enterprise (BUMD) operating in the services and tourism sector. Social media is considered effective in shaping perceptions, destination imagery, and tourist interest. This study employs a quantitative approach using descriptive and correlational methods. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to 97 respondents. Since the data was not normally distributed, the Spearman Rank test and Rank-Based Regression were used to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that social media has a significant influence on inbound tourism interest, with a determination coefficient of 65.3%. This means that social media explains more than half of the variation in respondents' tourism interest. Descriptive results also show that most indicators scored high, particularly in content creation and destination image, although there are still weaknesses in content sharing.

Abstract

The tourism sector plays an important role in the Indonesian economy, and its contribution has increased rapidly in recent years. Tourism is considered a major source of income for the region. The development of tourism in the region or rural areas is an attraction for research to make the tourist spot more advanced and developed. One of them is the Kedung Jati tourist village in Imogiri Bantul. This study aims to find out more about the tourism potential in the village using a SWOT analysis with a focus on the growth of sports tourism and highlighting the importance of sports tourism in improving the local economy and preserving culture. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with primary and secondary data to obtain their perspectives and experiences related to sports tourism in Kedung Jati tourism. The findings show that although this area has natural beauty, there is a lack of community involvement in sustainable tourism development and progress. Future research can explore the potential for sustainable nature tourism to maintain management and maintain its ecosystem.
