Abstract

TikTok is a social media platform that supports its users to create and upload short videos easily and quickly. Although its reputation is better than Instagram in Top Apps Worldwide for July 2020 and has different typical users, many users have also uploaded TikTok videos on Instagram. The purpose of this research is to find out the motives of teenagers in Denpasar City to upload TikTok videos on Instagram. Data in this quantitative descriptive study were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistic analysis techniques. Based on the uses and gratification theory as well as a combination of motives according to McQuail and Papacharissi and Rubin, the results show that the most encouraging motive for teenagers in Denpasar who upload TikTok videos on Instagram is pass time motive, while that is a less encouraging motive is social integration and interaction motive. Abstract

Personal branding is how an individual represent their skills, ideas, and belief. A brand for public figure like young activist is important to be formed in order to gain sympathy and acceptance from the society. In this research, reasearcher wants to describe how young activist, Melati Wijsen formed and applied personal branding through social media instagram. This research used qualitative descriptive approach and analyzed using Peter F. Montoya’s Eight Laws Of Personal Branding. The result of this research shows that young activist, Melati Wijsen has a brand as an activist who is inspiring, consistent, hard working and humble. Melati Wijsen has successfully implemented Eight Laws Of Personal Branding in forming her brand, with The Law Of Leadership, The Law Of Personality, and The Law Of Visibility being the most stand out concept in forming her personal brand through social media instagram. Abstract

As one of the mass communication media, music video comes as a medium for communicating message to the audience through audio and visual. Linkin Park's music video “Heavy” is one of the music video that depicts about one's struggle against inner demons. The study aims to look at representations of mental health issues in Linkin Park's “Heavy” music video. Researcher used qualitative approaches and examined data with concepts of mental health issues, Hall’s representation theory and the Triangle Meaning theory from Peirce. The results showed that “Heavy” music video represents mental health issues with behaviors that show symptoms of mental state including: (1) anxiety symptoms shown through repetitive behaviour and body language (2) symptoms of anger emotions are shown as throwing things and fighting (3) emotional symptoms of sadness indicated by body language, (4) difficulty completing daily work and alcohol consumption. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the communication pattern applied by iKONIC as a cyberfandom on Twitter. This research is descriptive qualitative research by applying the netnography method. The selection of informants is based on the availability and willingness of the informants. The research data were obtained through two sources. The primary sources of this research were through depth interviews and participant observations. The secondary sources come from previous works of literature related to this research. The data obtained from this research were analyzed through several stages, through data reduction, data presentation, conclusion, and verification. Through this research, it is known that iKONIC as a cyberfandom on Twitter generally applied all channels pattern on the communication process. In different context of interactions this fandom applies three different types of communication patterns based on the communication context, those types are Y pattern, wheel pattern and circle pattern. Abstract

ABSTRACT The study explains the effect of using #skincareviral on the interest on buying facial serum skincare products on social media that is TikTok. TikTok is a social media that provides a place for its users to express themselves through video content. In today’s digital era, the use of hashtags as a way of marketing communication. Interactive marketing on TikTok has its own potential to become a viral trend. This research is quantitative. The research data collected through a survey method by distributing an online questionnaire as an instrument to 110 respondents with predetermined criteria. The results showed that the variable #skincareviral use on TikTok videos has a strong correlation and positive. This study proves that there is an effect of using #skincareviral in TikTok videos on the interest in buying facial serum skincare products of 89,9%, while the remaining 10,1% is influenced by other factors not mentioned in this research. Kata Kunci: Use of hashtag, Interest of Buys, TikTok.

Abstract

Netflix known as entertainment company specializing in streaming service that allows their members to watch TV shows or movies on an internet-connected device without commercials. Netflix can be use on internet-connected devices that offer the Netflix app, such as tablets, smart TV and smartphone. The purpose of this research are to find the motives and the satisfactions of youth in Denpasar by using Netflix as a streaming service. This study using Uses and Gratification Theory by Dennis McQuail. This research uses descriptive quantitative method with purposive sampling technique. Data obtained by distributing questionnaire. The result shows there are two of the four motives that could be satisfied are information motive and integration and social interaction motive. Besides that, motive that has not been able to satisfied are personal identity motive and entertainment motive. Keyword: Motive, Satisfication, Youth, Netflix

Abstract

This research took the issue of how pubIic acceptance of sex education that presented in Dua Garis Biru. The aim of the study is to expIain the interpreted messages of sex education in Dua Garis Biru by the members of OSIS Communication Forum of SMA/SMK in Denpasar. This research used the descriptive quaIitative method and the theory of reception anaIysis of the encoding-decoding modeI by Stuart HaII. The resuIt shows that 12 scenes were containing the message of sex education in Dua Garis Biru. The five informants interpreted the 12 scenes and they were divided into two different positions. Four informants are in a dominant-hegemonic position, which indicates the audience, can accept and give a positive response to each scene in the entire fiIm. AIthough one informant is in a negotiated position, which indicates a combined opinion and had an aIternative interpretation of the received message codes. Abstract

The Gua Meze Ritual is a harvest thanksgiving ritual that is carried out in July according to the local community calendar. This ritual has 33 series which are divided into three major stages, namely Preparation, Ritual Celebrations and Restoration. This study examines the nonverbal meanings contained in rituals using the theory of Semiotics by Roland Barthes. Research in Traditional Villages Tutubhada Rendu Tutubhada Village, South Aesesa District, Nagekeo Regency was carried out with the aim of knowing the meaning of nonverbal communication messages in the Gua Meze ritual. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The data source is based on literature review of previous research, observation, interviews, and documentation. The results achieved in this study are an explanation of the meaning of Denotation, Connotation and Myth in the Gua Meze ritual series in the Rendu Tutubhada Traditional Village. Abstract

ABSTRACT Memories of My Body film is one of the controversial films in Indonesia that is suspected to contain negative content for the younger generation, one of which is violence. The purpose off this research is to explain the verbal and non-verbal violence contained in Memories of My Body film used descriptive quantitative content analysis..The results showed thattthe Memories of My Body film featured verbal and non verbal violence 108 times. The most frequent violence is verbal violence 58 times with the most scenes appearing to be yelling as many as 30 times. Non-verbal violence that occurs in the film appears as many as 50 times with the most scenes that appear to be injured with objects or weapons as many as 20 times. Abstract

Community Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program (CP3) is a program conducted by PMI Kabupaten Tabanan to preventive measure implemented through communication to lessen the case of dengue fever in Belalang village. The residents become more comprehend on dengue fever, including the definition, the transmission, symptoms, high-risk group, prevention, and the handling. This also influences the decreasing of dengue fever cases in Belalang village in 2019-2020, namely 40%. Therefore, through this study, the author would like to describe the communication strategy used by PMI Kabupaten Tabanan on CP3 in Belalang village. The author used the Lasswell communication model and descriptive- qualitative method in the present study. The result was Belalang have 24 village’s volunteers from all levels of society to be a communicator and comprehension on prevention of dengue fever which can be seen through behavior alteration dan affects to the decrease of dengue fever cases in Belalang village.
