Abstract

ABSTRAK The goal of this research is to describe and to explain the internal communication pattern of KUTU Vespa Bali’s Region in keep their group’s solidarity. This research is using descriptive qualitative approachment. The informan is selected by using purposive and snowball technique. The data is obtained by interview, direct observation and documentation study. The technique of analyzing the data that used in this research through several steps that was data reduction, data presentation and conclution. The result of this research shows that KUTU Vespa Bali’s Region using two kind of communication patterns. First is wheel communication pattern in which occur when they hold a formal and structural activity. Second is all channels communication pattern that occur when they hold on informal activity. The all channels communication pattern stimulate the brotherhood’s feel and begin more tighten their solidarity. Keywords : Communication Pattern, Vespa Community, Solidarity

Abstract

ABSTRACT The University of Indonesia and the National Narcotics Research Center conducted a research showing 27.32 percent of users in Indonesia were students. In Bali, 16-19 year olds involved in drug cases increased 73 percent. The object of this research is SMA PGRI 2 Denpasar. From the results of the BNN urine test, there were 2 students suspected of using illegal drugs. The method of this research is quantitative and uses descriptive statistics in analyzing data. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the campaign to prevent drug use from the City of Denpasar on the social media Instagram on the attitude of high school students PGRI 2 Denpasar. The results of this research are quite effective, the results of the respondents' data processing do not all follow the Instagram account of BNN Kota Denpasar, but most know the Instagram account of BNN Kota Denpasar. Abstract

ABSTRACT Dance costume is a form of non-verbal communication in which there are symbols that have meaning in accordance with the purpose of the dance. This can be seen in one of the dance costumes in Bali, namely Jauk Manis Dance. In Jauk Manis Dance costume, there is a conclusion that there is non-verbal communication with the contents of cultural values ??conveyed through the symbols attached to it. This study aims to determine the meaning of communication contained in Jauk Manis Dance costume. Texts and costume symbols of Jauk Manis Dance were chosen as research objects because the symbols in Jauk Manis Dance costume contained meanings and values ??related to Balinese culture and beliefs. This research uses descriptive qualitative method and uses Roland Barthes Semiotics Theory. The results show that there are meanings and values ??behind the symbols attached to Jauk Manis Dance costume such as: cultural values, religious values ??and artistic values. Cultural value in which costume describes a particular group of people. Religious value in the choice of colors is a symbol of the strength of the Gods in the belief of Hinduism. Abstract

ABSTRACT Vlogs are a form of opinion video, and are the dominant video in YouTube that is as much as 40% of all video content types that exist on YouTube. The presence of vlog is quite welcomed by the people of Indonesia, as seen from the number of Indonesian YouTubers already have a vlog-based account. Vlogs are composed with various types of content. The use of a media is influenced by individual socio-psychological factor that is one of the motive. This study aims to find out what the motive and how the satisfaction of young people in the city of Denpasar in watching vlog. Denpasar city was choosen to be the subject of this research because Denpasar city is listed as the most widely used internet in the Province of Bali. The motive of consuming the media became the reference in this research is the motive proposed by Dennis McQuail. The theory that is used in this research is Uses and Gratifications Theory. This research uses descriptive quanitative method. Sampling technique in this research is a purposive sampling. Data were obtained by distributing questionnaires using Likert scale. The analytical technique used is descriptive statistics by looking at the mean score of motives and satisfaction. The results showed that there are two motives that can be satisfied in watching the vlog that is the motif of personal identity and integrity and social interaction. Motives that can not be satisfied in watching the vlog is the motive of information and the motive of entertainment. So the results of this research indicate that vlog can be said as an effective media because it can provide some satisfaction to the audience. Abstract

ABSTRACT Selfie is an act of taking self-photograph by using electronic devices. The initial use of this selfie word is Selca or Self-Camera. In 2013, Selfie is officially listed as a known word on the Oxford English Dictionary that define an activity of taking self-photograph using electronic devices and shared via social media. The aim of this research is to describe the motives of adolescents from SMAN 1 Denpasar in performing the act of selfie and share it to Instagram. This research used descriptive quantitative approach, informants were obtained by using purposive sampling technique, and data were obtained by distributing questionnaires. The several stages of analyzing techniques used in this research are statistical data analysis techniques of frequency distribution, cross tabulation with data processing using SPSS program computational calculation and conclusions drawing. The results shows that adolescents tend to have a motive to get response such as like, while the adolescent is less likely to have the motive of recognition in the form of desire to get attention. More teenage girls tend to have motives of getting new experiences and motives to get responses when compared to boys, while there is less significance difference between women and men in terms of motives of getting recognition. Abstract

ABSTRACT Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI – Indonesian Solidarity Party) is a new political party established in 2014. In mid-2016, PSI was declared as the only political party that passed the verification of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights from the six parties that registered and in the fifth year it passed to 2019 Indonesian Election contesting parties. This study aims to find out the image of the PSI in the Millennial Generation of Denpasar City. The theories used in this research are Frank Jefkins Image Theory and Imagery in Politics. This research uses the descriptive quantitative method. Sampling technique in this research is purposive sampling. The analytical technique used is descriptive statistics by looking at the mean score of the PSI image. The result of this research showed that PSI image was categorized to be good because millennial had good impression and attitude, as well as high trust in the PSI. Abstract

ABSTRACT The mass media directs the awareness of the audience to the issues that are considered important by making the process of setting the agenda. One of the issues that is currently developing in the mass media is the issue of reclamation of Benoa Bay. Various news on the reclamation of Teluk Benoa emerged in mainstream media and alternative media with various viewpoints. One of the alternative media that is consistently reporting the development of the issue of Benoa Bay reclamation is Balebengong.id. As an alternative media, Balebengong.id resembles the news of Benoa Bay reclamation in the form of citizen journalism that is not tied to the system as well as mainstream media, so that the published news is considered more neutral and democratic. This research was conducted to find out the framing of news of Benoa Bay reclamation in Balebengong.id by analyzing eight news published in August 2016. This research is a qualitative research using framing analysis method Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M.Kosicki. The results of this study indicated that Balebengong.id more highlight the news about the rejection that appears against the reclamation plan Benoa Bay. Abstract

ABSTRACT Sexually charged information is broadcasting through various forms of communication media. This sexual content can be seen in a video clip that aired on television, CD albums and on social media Youtube. Dek Ulik and Lolak’s video entitled Dangap-Dangap has been watched until 900,000 times on Youtube. The purpose of this study was to find out the sexual content contained in the Dangap-Dangap video clip sung by Dek Ulik and Lolak. The type of research used is qualitative with constructivist pradigma. The primary data source in this study is the Dangap-Dangap video clip of Dek Ulik and Lolak uploaded on Youtube, as well as secondary data sources from literature relevant to research titles, such as books, journals, articles, online mass media, and papers. The research method used is Charles Sanders Peirce semiotic analysis method. The results of this study were the presence of mild and severe sexual behavior displayed in this Dangap-Dangap video clip. Mild sexual behavior is shown by the activities of fantasy, teasing, and hand movements represent the behavior of masturbation. Mild sexual behavior is shown by the activities of fantasy, teasing, and hand movements that refers to the behavior of masturbation and body movement that refers to sexual behavior as severe as mimic coitus. Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the discourse presented by CNN Indonesia in announcing the issue of cigarette price increase in August 2016. This qualitative research use discourse analysis method of Teun A. Van Djik. The results of this research indicate that CNN Indonesia raised the discourse, which is “Supporting the Increase of Cigarette Prices”. The discourse arises through the following process: First, the gatekeeper selected the information. Second, the information that has been selected appears as a media agenda. Third, the media agenda establishes a public agenda and policy agenda, in which a public agenda appears to provide public new perception and the policy agenda is delivered to the government to immediately reinforce cigarette regulation in Indonesia. Abstract

ABSTRACT Damage on marine ecosystem is one of the problems in Indonesia that impact to human life. The imbalance of the food chain in the oceans caused by excessive shark exploitation is one of the causes of damage to marine ecosystems. Another reason is the lack of public awareness caused by ignorance of the importance of maintaining marine ecosystems. The lack of government efforts to repair damage made Bali Sharks as a non-profit organization to help provide education and information to the people, especially the people in Bali. In this study, the author tries to find out Bali Sharks’ communication strategy in educating the people of Bali to maintain the marine ecosystem. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection using participant observation, in-depth interview, and documentation study. Informants selected based on purposive sampling. Data analysis used Milles and Huberman interaction model. The results of this study show that Bali Sharks provides education to the people of Bali through new media, print media, electronic media, special events, and personal sales as channels in the communication strategy undertaken. The communication messages are based on the purpose and vision of Bali Sharks mission which generally consists of information and education about sharks and current marine ecosystem conditions, and solutions to improve marine ecosystems. The messages convey use different techniques and channels to see based by audience ‘s needed. Communicators are not only from Bali Sharks’ team but also the Bali Sharks’ audience who re-spread the information to other audiences. The communication strategy of Bali Sharks is expected to raise the awareness of the Balinese community on issues related to shark protection from over-exploitation, salvation of marine ecosystems, and more conservative in choosing seafood.
