Abstract

The antioxidant activity and polysaccharide composition of seaweed is influenced by species (red, green and brown seaweed), geographical conditions, extraction methods, solvents, temperature and the length of time of extraction. The purpose of this study was to known the total polysaccharide and antioxidant activity in red, green and brown seaweed extracts from Jangkar Situbondo beach. Method. The study was conducted on red, green and brown seaweed extracted with ethanol and water to determine total polysaccharides. Antioxidant analysis uses the method 2,2-diphenyl1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical. Total polysaccharide and antioxidant activity were observed statistically using two-way ANOVA. The results of this study show that the polysaccharide content in seaweed water extract was significantly higher than ethanol extract, especially in brown seaweed. Seaweed water extracts showed higher antioxidant activity than ethanol extracts. The antioxidant activity of brown seaweed was significantly higher than that of green and red seaweed. Conclusion. Seaweeds have high antioxidant activity in water extracts. Brown seaweed water extract contains high polysaccharides than green and red seaweed. Antioxidant activity in brown seaweed is also higher than in green and red seaweed.

Abstract

BPA is a synthetic material that widely used in basic material of PVC making. PVC is needed in production of household appliances, food container, mineral water bottles, feeding bottles and dental sealant. BPA is known as one of EDCs which have an effect to increase insulin levels on blood. Furthermore, BPA could lead to DMT2. The objective was to determine the effect of BPA on blood insulin levels in adult male wistar rats. 18 male wistar rats were divided into 3 groups. BPA solution was made by dissolve 20 mg/kgBB crystal BPA into corn oil. Group 1 (K1) not given any treatment and dissected in day-0. Group 2 (K2) given aquadest treatment orally for 28 days and dissected in day-29. Group 3 (P) given BPA solution treatment orally for 28 days and dissected in day-29. The treatment given once a day on 09.00 AM. The blood collected after 12 hours fasting. Blood collecting procedure done with the rats were anasthetized first with eter 10% through inhalation and then dissect the rats until the heart is exposed. Blood was collected from the heart for 3 ml and were sentrifugated to get the serum. Insulin examination done by ELISA on serum that has been collected. Abstract

In line with the development of science and technology, and increasing human needs to make things easier, a technology called Geographic Information System (GIS) was created. Geographical information system (GIS) is a technology which is currently a very essential tool in the process of storing, manipulating, analyzing, and displaying natural conditions (including the utility network) with the help of attribute and spatial data (graphic). Based on the data from the visit reports of Dental Clinic in Ambulu Community Health Center from SP2TP section, the grouping of patients with dental caries is only based on the age of the patient and the working area that has village maternity home and auxiliary health center, so that the available information cannot represent all of the working area. Information on areas with the highest caries population can be the attention of the head of the dental clinic of Ambulu Community Health Center to conduct a promotive and preventive service program in the area. This study aimed to determine the use of geographic information systems for caries monitoring in the working area of Ambulu Community Health Center, Jember Regency. This research uses qualitative research. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the monitoring of caries in the working area of the Ambulu Community Health Center can be done by utilizing a geographic information system, so that the number of patients who have caries in each region can be known. This information can be used by dentists to plan promotive and preventive service activities that will be carried out.

Abstract

Dentinogenesis imperfecta is the one of most common hereditary disorder of dentin formation, especially at histodifferentiation stage. It reported have to an incidences of 1 in 8000. Dentinogenesis imperfecta is an autosomal dominant, affecting both the formation and mineralizatin of dentin. CASE: A 20-year-old female patient came to integrasi A RSGMP UNSOED with crown fracture of anterior teeth 11, after eating a solid food. A permanent filling was conducted on 21 with the same cause one year ago. Intraoral examination showed attrition, yellowish and translucent on both maxillary and mandibullary teeths. Radiography showed that obliterated pulp chamber and shrinked root canal. Porcelain fused to metal crown was planned for this case. Conclusion: Dentinogenesis imperfecta is a hereditary disorder of tooth development. It caused the teeth to be discoloured (blue-grey or yellow-brown color), and fragile. Treatment planning for patient with dentinogenesis imperfecta is restorative treatment that can be apply to deciduous or permanent teeth, because exposed dentin will increase the risk of caries and infection.

Abstract

The advantages of Nanohybrid composite resin are they have a smooth surface and greater strength, also minimal shrinkage. The disadvantages of composite resin are the color changes extrinsically and intrinsically. The color is changing extrinsically because of the dyes which attached to the surface of the composite resin and the color is changing intrinsically due to oxidation of monomers. Pempek and turmeric-tamarind herbal drink (jamu) are kind of foods and beverages that are very popular among Indonesian people, both of them are causing discoloration on the surface of the composite resin. The objective was to identify the difference composite resin color change after soaking in sweet and sour sauce (cuko pempek) and turmeric-tamarind herbal drink. This study was experimental laboratory research with pre-test and post-test research design. The samples were 32 pieces of Nanohybrid composite resin with the size of 10 x 2 mm. 16 samples of each test were soaked in 5 ml “cuko pempek” and turmeric-tamarind herbal drink in 37 0 C temperature in 7 days. The color change was measured using spechtrophotometer (UV-2401 PC). Results: There are differences between Nanohybrid composite resin surface color change which were soaked in “cuko pempek” and turmeric-tamarind herbal drink which marked in an average change of dE*ab “cuko pempek” (4.7244) and turmeric and tamarind herbal drink (39.1944). The results of independent T-Test also showed a significant color change that is p = 0,000 (p <0.05). This study concluded that there were differences between Nanohybrid composite resin surface color change which are soaked in “cuko pempek” and turmeric-tamarind herbal drink.
