Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) is a byproduct of processing fresh palm fruit bunches into crude palm oil (CPO) which has negative externalities in the form of gas containing methane, carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases (GHG) which is very dangerous for sustainability environment. The use of pome as feedstocks for biogas power plants (PLTBg) changes the negative externalities of pome into positive externalities such as increased electrification in the area around the palm oil mill (PKS) and also good for environmental sustainability. PLTBg Suka Damai with a capacity of 2.4 Mw is planned to reach the Commercial Operating Date (COD) in 2019, the financial calculation has a cost-benefit ratio of 1.19, percentage of Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 12.84%, percentage of weighted cost of capital (WACC) 10% and a Net Present Value (NPV) of Rp 21,275,609,209.00. Using the cost-benefit analysis method, the authors calculate the positive externalities generated by PLTBg Suka Damai by comparing the value of benefits into three (3) alternative scenarios. The scenario I add the social cost of carbon (SCOC) as additional benefits; scenario II adds carbon credit income parameters from the REDD+ scheme; scenario III only utilizes the benefits of electricity sales and the electrification without adding additional benefits. Comprehending all the results, the first scenario with SCOC is the most optimize scenario for it provides far greater benefits to the community, far greater than the financial revenue received by the PLTBg itself.

Abstract

This study shows the causes of sociology education students' difficulties in making higher order thinking (HOT) tests. The method applied is the mix method through FGD data collection and questionnaires. The results showed that it was difficult for students to make HOT questions because 1) it was challenging to create stimulus questions, 2) lack of understanding of sociology material, 3) lack of mastery of Bloom's taxonomy application, 4) insufficient learning time, and 5) lecturer explanations were not good. Therefore, recommendations for effective learning improvement are needed, including using the principle of discovery learning

Abstract

India has recently become a hotspot of misinformation: the COVID-19 brings a new opportunity for the rumor-spreaders. Of various categories, religious misinformation seems harmful for both Indian society and public health. In this paper, therefore, I tried to sketch a few necessary aspects of religious misinformation in India during the COVID-19. From the previous literature and ongoing trend of Indian misinformation, I identified two important phenomena: (a) Though Muslims produce more spiritual misinformation, most of the religious misinformation targeting Muslims is inspired by Islamophobia; (b) misinformation that tries to champion Hinduism is more related to the contemporary political ideologies of India. I also tried to explain how religion as a political issue relates to public health

Abstract

Semarang City is the first city in Indonesia to be selected in the 100 Resilient Cities (100 RC) Program. This position raises the hope that this city has more potential than other cities to prevent and control the spread of Covid-19. The policies pursued through Restrictions on Community Activities and the Candi Hebat Siaga Village Program have not yet been optimal in breaking the chain of Covid-19 spread. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, examines the factors that influence, and formulates the steps that need to be taken to increase its effectiveness. The most prominent factor found in this study is the weak resilience of local culture concerning the prevention and control of Covid-19. This weakness causes the community to be less disciplined in implementing health protocols and the apparatus less control over the implementation of policies.

Abstract

The industrial sector has an important role in the Indonesian economy. The problem facing the fertilizer industry is the price of gas as a raw material that tends to be expensive for the lower prices of crude oil since 2016. To overcome this problem the government issued Presidential Regulation No. 40/2016 on setting gas prices for the fertilizer industry but this regulation only sets floor gas prices at USD 6/MMBTU to secure revenues of gas producers. Meanwhile, the current sale gas contract for fertilizer applies an escalation. The objectives of this study are to evaluate the netback value of each fertilizer plant and assess the current gas price policy. The netback value is calculated based on the long-run marginal cost of urea production. The result shows that PKT 04 and PKT 05, Pusri 1B, 2B, 3, and 4, PKC 1A and 1B, and PKG have lower netback value than gas price contract, except for PKT plant based on average has the highest netback value, because they use pricing mechanism that linked to oil and product price. From this calculation the current gas price policy needs to be adjusted to keep the fertilizer industry profitably.

Abstract

Dhengge dance embodies the description of fishermen's activities that have a sense of beauty that is caused by movement and music produced by the mouth. Human life cannot be separated from signs, and signs always have a load of meaning. The symbols contained in this dance were analyzed qualitatively by Pierce's semiotics. The costumes of the dancers are interpreted by the fishermen as having a firm attitude and a fighting spirit in facing life, steadfast and tough. Freedom, openness, simplicity, courage, manliness, and persistence are among the cultural ethos of the Madurese people. The dance movement depicts a trip to go to sea, search for fish to return to the beach, which means that life can be likened to running a boat into the middle of the ocean which at times is hit by big waves and strong winds, the boat to lose control, lose direction and even sink. For that we need planning, hard work, togetherness, a sense of brotherhood and require patience, confidence, persistence, and surrender

Abstract

Collaborative consumption (CC) is the new business model which overlaps with the concept of sharing economy (SE). However, CC has some unique characteristics that are not found in SE. This study aims to compare the two based on three dimensions: compensation, ownership, and platform. E- Commerce (EC) is included into the comparison in order to show that CC is actually a combination of SE and EC, thus covering a larger set than the other two concepts. The method used in this study is the literature study. The methods used CC concept manually and VOSviewer software to reassure and explore the unique characteristics of CC in comparison with SE and EC. The positioning map based on two dimensions: compensation and platform generate six business models that can be represented the characteristic of CC, SE, and EC. The six models are: (1) platform-based and monetary compensation; (2) platform-based and non-monetary compensation; (3) platform-based and without compensation; (4) non-platform-based and monetary compensation; (5) non-platform-based and non-monetary compensation; (6) non-platform-based and without compensation. The last dimension is ownership describe that CC activity is including exchange-based and access-based activity, while SE provides access-based activity only and EC offering exchange-based activity. The study also aims to discover the unique characteristics of CC that will be used as the basis for developing a future research agenda of CC.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on people's lives. The economic sector is so affected that a balanced and well-targeted policy is needed to overcome the difficulties arising from the pandemic. Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) which has been intended to reduce the spread of Covid-19 indirectly makes economic activities in production, consumption, and distribution to be hampered, so to speak, cause an economic contraction. The national economy was contracted by 5.32 percent (y-o-y) and the economy of East Java was contracted 5.90 percent (y-o-y) in the second quarter of 2020. Nevertheless, there are several economic sectors that still have good performance and have contributed greatly to East Java's Gross Regional Domestic Product. Using Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, this study aims to identify basic sectors and formulate the composition and shift of the basic sectors by using GRDP as an indicator of regional growth
