Abstract

This descriptive qualitative study aimed to comprehend the perception of elementary school children in Bandung about bullying, focusing on the understanding of the phenomenon and the use of social support from teachers, parents, and peers. In order to achieve this aim, semi-structured interviews were carried out with four children aged between 12 to13 years, from different elementary schools in Bandung. The data obtained from the conducted interview were subsequently transcribed and analyzed using a thematic analysis framework. The analysis results showed children comprehended bullying differently in a manner that did not entirely harmonize with the conventional definition. It was also important to acknowledge that children viewed emotional support as a more important factor compared to direct problem-solving. The obtained results were extensively discussed to explore implications for further analysis concerning the interplay between bullying and the association with social support.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of impulsivity, Machiavellianism, and empathy on the inclination towards aggressive driving behavior. A cross-sectional analysis was conducted, utilizing a sample size of 315 Indonesian drivers. Accordingly, the instruments used include Aggressive Driving Behavior Scale (ADBS), Short Version of the UPPS-P (SUPPS-P) Scale, Machiavellian Personality Scale (MPS) and Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI) Scale. The multiple linear regression results showed that impulsivity, Machiavellianism, and empathy significantly influenced the tendency toward aggressive driving behavior with F count of 12.454 and significance level of .000 < .05. Furthermore, the dimensions of impulsivity, lack of perseverance, and Machiavellianism, were observed to partially have an effect on the tendency toward aggressive driving behavior at .221 or 22.1%, which was categorized as moderate. It was also important to acknowledge that the other dimensions observed in this study had no significant effect on the subject matter.

Abstract

Teacher self-efficacy (TSE) in classroom management is an important predictor of teaching practice, but there are limited studies on the application in Asian countries, particularly Indonesia. Therefore, this study aimed to describe psychometric properties of Classroom Management Efficacy scale in Indonesian version. Psychometric properties of the scale were evaluated using a total of 582 Indonesian teachers, who served as participants. The results supported a bifactor model with high internal consistency, showing that the scale could be psychometrically sound measure of TSE in classroom management in Indonesian version.

Abstract

This study aimed to test psychometric properties of strength use scale (SUS) as a unidimensional concept with 14 question items on a sample of female leaders who work in two manufacturing companies. The investigation, the subjects used consisted of 521 females in management positions at various levels. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was applied to analyze the factor validity of the unidimensional SUS consisting of 14 items. Additionally, Indonesian version of SUS was validated using a confirmation approach. In line with previous studies, the analysis confirmed the unidimensionality of the scale, which measures a singular strength through factors. The demands on internal consistency, composite reliability, and convergent validity were met. The results showed that Indonesian version of SUS is comparable to the original English version, representing a valid and reliable measure of strength used in Indonesian. Therefore, future studies should consider adding subjects with different sociodemographic backgrounds.

Abstract

This study aims to develop psychological well-being (PWB) module for prospective Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers using Thiagarajan 4D Model, namely define, design, development and dissemination. The module was validated by material, design, and language experts, then tested for practicality and effectiveness on 43 ECE students. This study adopted the pre-experimental design with type one group pretest-posttest and the instruments used were validation questionnaire and psychological well-being scale from Ryff. Module was declared valid with average expert and practicality test scores of 96.05%, and 90.12%, respectively. Furthermore, the effectiveness test was carried out using a paired sample t-test and obtained score of .001 (t <.05), showing that module was effective in improving psychological well-being of prospective ECE teachers. This module can be used by prospective ECE teachers to develop psychological well-being and prepared to become professional teachers.

Abstract

Online identity frauds such as love scams, catfishing, and fake content are associated with the freedom of personalization offered by social media platforms which can lead to deceptive self-presentation behavior and impressions. Therefore, this research aimed to examine the role of motivation to use Instagram and the dark triad personality on deceptive self-presentation. It was conducted quantitatively through structural equation model (SEM) analysis based on partial least squares (PLS) using data collected from 400 early adult Instagram users between the ages of 20 and 34 years in Indonesia. The results showed that motivation to use Instagram and the dark triad personality influenced deceptive self-presentation by 30.9% on ideal self-dimension and 41.9% on false self-dimension. Moreover, motivational dimensions of gaining new friendships, following and monitoring, social connectedness and social recognition had a significant influence on deceptive self-presentation. In the dark triad personality variable, only the narcissism dimension was observed to have a significant influence on deceptive self-presentation.

Abstract

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal, endocrine, and metabolic disorder in women of reproductive age. This is characterized by symptoms such as hirsutism, menstrual disorders and infertility, affecting almost 20% of women. In this context, the syndrome affects the physical and psychological disorders of women. Conditions that predominate in PCOS women cause depression and affect their quality of life. Using a phenomenological approach, in-depth interviews were conducted to determine quality of life in six PCOS women. The participants were recruited using purposive sampling from PCOS Fighter Indonesia community in the Bandung area. Furthermore, three themes were developed from the analysis, namely positive thinking, healthy behavior and social support. This resarch showed the favorable facets of the experiences of women coping with PCOS and showed the important role of the community in offering support to individuals affected by the syndrome. The identified themes emanated from interviews exploring quality of life among women with PCOS, providing insights into their daily lives and the challenges posed by the symptoms.

Abstract

Dual-earner couples in the sandwich generation are overcoming unique challenges to their marital satisfaction. Therefore, this study aimed to explore gender differences in work-family conflict and marital satisfaction in dual-earner couples among the sandwich generation. To achieve this, a quantitative mathod comprising 105 participants (Mage = 39.10; SD = 9.842) from Greater Jakarta, was used. The results showed that there was no significant differences between working men and women in the sandwich generation concerning marital satisfaction and work-family conflict. Based on observations, there was no correlation between work-family conflict and marital satisfaction in women. Conversely, a negative correlation existed between marital satisfaction and the number of children, a trend discovered exclusively in men. In conclusion, this study provided information to improve the marriage quality for dual-earner couples and contributed novel perspective to the discourse on marital satisfaction and work-family conflict.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the perspective of the psychological assessment team on the factors influencing parental acceptance of students with disabilities. A qualitative design was used through a case study, with data gathered through in-depth interviews comprising four key participants, specifically two Psychologists and two Psychological Counsellors at Rumah Duta Revolusi Mental. The findings showed seven factors that either support or prevent parental acceptance of students with disabilities. The supporting elements include Knowledge, a Proactive and Open Attitude, Social Support, Financial Assistance and Capability, Availability of Facilities and Service Access, Experience, and Spirituality. Conversely, the preventing factors comprise Negative Stigma, Anxiety, Lack of Knowledge/Literacy, Maladaptive Beliefs, Negative Experience with Prior Services, Limited Financial Resources, and Limited Access and Infrastructure. Based on these findings, the study recommends that Semarang City should actively develop innovative policies to enhance parental acceptance of students with disabilities, addressing the identified factors comprehensively.

Abstract

Bullying is a pervasive social issue within the Indonesian context, manifesting in various situations, including sports, where the behavior can occur between fellow athletes and supporters at a sporting event. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the influence of conformity and fanaticism on incidents of bullying among supporters of the Persib Bandung football team. A quantitative causality approach was used, with data analysis executed through multiple regression to obtain 349 respondents. The results showed that conformity and fanaticism influenced bullying by Persib Bandung supporters. Specifically, the combined influence of the variables accounted for 3.3% of the observed incidents. Conformity had a partial influence of 15.8% on bullying ,while fanaticism did not show any statistically significant influence.
