Abstract

Pedestrians have a high risk to be hit by motor vehicle when they crossed the street, thus the choose ofappropriate cross facilities are very important. An alternative for choosing cross facilities are by using the CriticalGap method. This method is used to measure the possibility of crossing the street safely. This study was startedby gathering primary data for 4 hours at the traffic peak hours. From the calculation, the case of DharmawangsaStreet, Surabaya, showed that the critical gap is about 3,55 seconds. The observation from 07.00-11.00 a.m.showed that the possibilities of crossing the road respectively are: 45, 55, 56, and 60. Compared to the numberpedestrians crossing the road, the research showed about 71, 24, 33, and 49 peoples. In this case, the possibility ofcrossing the street at 07.00-08.00 a.m. cannot be fulfilled. Meanwhile, the possibility to cross the street with safelyat 08.00-11.00 a.m. can be fulfilled. Therefore, the use of midblock crosses is still relevant.

Abstract

Bamboo has contributed to economic potency and the increase of ecology, so bamboo is widely used by local and non-local community. Objectives of this research is to verify role of bamboo betung (Dendrocalamus Asper)at land quality using method Ring rudihilmanto, but in this research it is focussed only at land element influenced by bamboo betung especially at acidity (pH) and porosity. Method of Ring rudihilmanto constitute method of tree interaction and adaptation. This method depicts environmental elements which can be influenced by population a tree species of phase its growth and development at ecosystem, that is: land, temperature, water, and the other organism. Result obtained by that role of bamboo of betung at ecosystem use method of Ring rudihilmanto had ability 14,29% improve alkalis soil and 12,55% to improve soil porosity. Role of bamboo betung (Dendrocalamus Asper) at land quality repair was different significant at 0,01 level.

Abstract

New improved variety is a component of technology that hold an important role in increasing rice production. Farmers preferences of improved varieties have to be known because it affects on the level of farmer adoption of new paddy varieties. The aims of this research are to understand the characteristics of paddy that are important to farmers and to know the most prefered new varieties in Donggala. The research is a participatory research which supported by site observation. The data were analyzed by perceived quality method. The results show that the characteristics that are important to farmers preference in Donggala are production, pest and disease rate, the number of tillers, rice texture, the ease of harvest, the age of harvest, plant height and panicle length. However the paddy variety which is most favored by the farmers in Donggala is Inpari 4.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine antioxidant activity of Bongkok snake fruit crude extract by in vivo assay using yeast cell Candida sp.Y390 as experimental model. Crude extract has secondary metabolite compoundsuch as alkaloid, saponin, flavonoid, phenolic, and tannin. Mature crude extract of 200 ppm concentration potentially inhibits lipid peroxidase of yeast cell which has been treated by paracetamol 0.3%. The inhibitation ofthe 200 ppm extraxt concentration is higher than vitamin 0.225 mg/ml reaching 61.06% and 53.65% respectively.

Abstract

This study has conducted to know readiness and feasibility of the Local Government of Banyumas that it willfound Broadcasting Institute of Public (LPP Local) of television as means of government to submit more information.Method which used in this study is survey technique, the results showed that there were 97.3% of Banyumaspopulations, they confessing like to watch on the TV, Public Television of men (89.2%) and woman (92.3%) replyingto require Public TV, while if asked approval of founding of public television (63%) respondents consists of men(58.8%) and from woman (67.3%) answered agree with reason to add knowledge and information about Banyumas.If It saw from views and community expectations on public television program based to results of broadcast programcomposition survey involving news bulletin (81.53%), drama/sinetron (48.45%), television debate and music ofdangdut ( 27.69%) and puppets (20.76%), while for the contents of event Appeal Television of Banyumas can raiseup local potency over 50%, regional (Central Java) 25% and national scale 25%.

Abstract

Most of the farmer groups managing cattle in West Sumatra have not achieved the business goals with little regard for the potential well and local resources that surround them and the lack of attention to environmental impact. The purpose of this study was to describe the performance of the enclosure management, feeding management, livestock waste management with respect to the concept of Green Marketing, and describes prospects for the cattle business in West Sumatra sustainable future. The research was conducted in 2012 in farmer groups Sejahtera Rambatan, Tanah Datar and groups Sejahtera Dua, in West Pasaman. The method used is the qualitative and quantitative approaches. The results of this study were (1) cage is best for beef cattle business is to facilitate the enclosure of communal feeding and cleaning cages. Need a good cage equipped breeding tank waste. (2) Management of by-product feed by utilizing skin cocoa plantations, palm leaf midrib and Solid largely able tosubstitute consentrate feed and forage with greater economic value. (3) By processing waste in the form of cattle faeces, cow urine and feed residue into organic fertilizer for farmers and provide benefits to cover the cost of feedproduction. (4) By applying the concept of Green Marketing in the cattle business is to provide economic benefits and environmental friendly.

Abstract

Semedo is a site with archaeological potential of animal vertebrate fossils and stone tools. Human fossilsas cultural actors on the site until now has not been found. In early January 2011, people found the order ofhuman skeleton on this site. This research was conducted with the objective of identifying the human species andits relationship with the fossil vertebrates and stone tools available at this site. The method used in this study is asurvey of observations and literature studies. This research is important given the results of this study will be usedas a basis for policy making and management framework of the findings Semedo Site.

Abstract

Banda arc has a high seismicity, therefore, it is necessary to reduce the earthquake risk. Earthquake parameters variation from Gutenberg - Richter relation, log n(M)=a – bM, has introduced the model of earthquakes prediction related to earthquake risk. Earthquake data from NEIC catalogue for a period of 1973 - 2009 has been used to analyze earthquake parameters variation (a-value, b-value) in the area of Banda arc within coordinates 1°-13° S and 120°-135° E. This research used ZMAP ver. 6.0. to analyze the earthquake data. The result of spatial analyze shows the areas of potential destructive earthquakes are surrounding of Flores, Alor and western part of Seram. The probability of earthquakes occurrence with the magnitude 6.5 RS in these areas is 7 – 15 years, whereas the magnitude 7 RS is about 20–60 years.

Abstract

Beberapa penelitian telah dilakukan, tetapi belum ada yang membahas secara khusus retensi dalam bahasa Melayu Banjar Hulu. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi retensi dan inovasi fonemis dalam bahasa Melayu Banjar Hulu, membandingkan dengan penelitian terdahulu, dan menghubungkannya dengan bahasa Melayu kuno. Data berupa 200 kosakata dasar yang dikumpulkan Suryadikara dan Durasjid diban-dingkan dengan daftar proto-Austronesia yang dihimpun Blust. Dengan metode komparatif diketahui ada lima protofonem, *t, *m, *a, *i, dan *u, yang mengalami retensi pada semua posisi. Karena mempertahankan secara konsisten ketiga protofonem vokal tersebut, bahasa Melayu Banjar Hulu dapat disebut bahasa yang masih asli. Sementara itu, protofonem yang mengalami retensi jika berada pada posisi awal adalah *b, *d, *k, *l, *p, dan *s. *k, *n, *p, dan *r dipertahankan jika berada pada posisi akhir, sedangkan *l, *n, *b, *s, *r, dan *ŋ dipertahankan jika berada pada posisi antarvokal. Inovasi primer yang ditemukan hanya substitusi, sedangkan inovasi sekunder yang didapat berupa split, apokope, sinkope, protesis, dan metatesis.*q merupakan satu-satunya protofonem yang mengalami substitusi menjadi /h/ pada semua posisi.

Abstract

Addition to its economic contribution, rubber plantation plays an important role in sequestration of carbon. Carbon sequestration of rubber plantation could be increased through the application of intercropping system with high biomass timber trees. This study aimed: 1) to asses the potential increase of land carbon stock in rubber plantation intercropped with teak (Tectona grandis) and trembesi (Samanea saman); and 2) to examine theroleofforestryplantsintercroppingonrubbertreesasanalternativetoreduceCO2  emissions.Theresearch was conducted at the Balai Penelitian Sembawa’s plantation, South Sumatera, with three intercropping patterns, namelyPT1:teak+rubberplants,PT2:trembesi+rubberplants,andPT3:rubbertreemonocultures.Carbon stocks measurement is divided into three components: living part (tree biomass), dead part (necromass) and soil (soil organic matter).
