Profesi Pendidikan Dasar (PPD) is an open-accessed and peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by the Department of Elementary School Teacher Education (PGSD), Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, in collaboration with Himpunan Dosen PGSD Indonesia (HDPGSDI). PPD focuses on elementary/primary education from an excellent perspective. PPD aims to be a media of communication, information, and discussion of elementary education such as instruction, curriculum, management, guidance and counseling, psychology, and teacher training.

This study aims to look at the implementation process of the teacher class guidance in buildingthe character of students. This study is a qualitative research with phenomenological approachnaturalistic. Phenomenological approach seeks to understand human behavior in terms of aframework of thinking and acting people themselves. Implementation of comprehensive guidanceservices done by classroom teacher and teacher assistant in SD Muhammadiyah Surakarta SpecialProgram was very in???? uential on the formation of student character. The process of comprehensiveguidance services form the basis of guidance services, response service, individual planning services,and support systems. This study focuses on basic counseling services and individualized service.This guidance service is a companion program for all students under the guidance of psychologistsand counselors. The basic service is a service provided for all students in order to achieve optimalprocess of self development through activities classically presented systematically. This serviceis also aimed at preventing the emergence of problems in the educational process at school.

The purpose of this study is expected to provide an understanding of the effects of school mergers carried out by SD Sondakan No. 11 Surakarta. In addition, the results of this study can be useful for educational institutions, especially for schools that experience impacts. The merger policy of schools in Surakarta Sondakan State Elementary School No.11 has a positive impact on learning activities in schools, the realization of a comfortable and conducive learning environment. the implementation of activities to develop students' talents through extracurricular activities. The existence of literacy activities before implementing learning. Able to follow and win champions from various competitions both academic and non-academic. For example CCAI competition, PHBS, persami, etc. Negative influence after the school merger for students, social influence, especially in the economic strata. Because guardians of students from these 3 elementary schools have different economies. So that there are still some students who feel isolated and lacking in confidence.

This study aims to develop a Serli Practicum Module (Discovery Learning) for Science learning in Class VI Elementary Schools that has met valid, practical, and effective criteria for use in Science learning in elementary schools. This type of research is research and development that uses the Peffers et al development model. The type of development research includes six phases, namely: (1) identifying problems that motivate research, (2) describing research objectives, (3) designing and developing products, (4) testing products, (5) evaluating trial results, and (6) ) communicating results. The results of the study show that the Serli Practicum Module (Discovery Learning) for Science learning in Class VI Elementary School has been valid, practical and effective. Validity values obtained are 61 with very valid criteria. Practical value of 65.73 or very practical. And the acquisition of effectiveness value is 0.70 with effective criteria.

The purpose of this research is to find a model of strengthening character education inelementary school environment learners Javanese culture. The specific objective of thesecond year is to formulate a model of an active character education and fun in theelementary school students then tested the cultured Javanese character education modelthat is active and fun in the cultured primary school learners Java. The main methoddeveloped in this research is descriptive - qualitative - reflective. The research method willbe implemented in the second year is the collection of data with focus group discussionsinvolving teachers, principals, school committees , and parents / guardians of students .The collected data were analyzed by using a reflective critique. In that year also applieddata collection methods to test the model. The data were analyzed with a heuristic model.This study has several performance indicators of each year. After the first year the indicatoris reached, followed by a search for examples of learning models applied by the teacherin the implementation of character education. Year two indicators to be achieved is thestrong foundation of character education in the elementary sense after FGD with teachers,principals, school committee, and parents / guardians of students. This indicator willexplain: (1) the weaknesses and strengths of the old model of learning in the teaching ofcharacter education, (2) the expectations of elementary education stakeholders aboutcharacter education , (3) application of learning models “ Thanks Sam “ in SD and thesurrounding region of Surakarta , (4) the power of learning model “ Thanks Sam “ as alearning model that is able to strengthen the character of elementary school students ..

This research aimed to find out whether the use of interactive multimedia in class contributes significant role in the success of the English teaching and learning process. The object of the study was the third grade students of SDN 3 Tarubasan, Klaten. This study is categorized as a class action research which was carried out in two cicles with five meetings each. It was done in the even semester of 2015/2016. A pre-test was given to the objects of the study to record their initial score before the use of the interactive multimedia was implemented. The mean of the pretest was 68,7 with only 3 Objects of the study meeting the passing grade score of 69. At the end of the first cycle, a post-test was given which resulted in a mean of 70,7. The number of the object of study meeting the passing grade score accelerated As much as 61,5%. Finally, after the second cycles was done, the mean of the post-test was 82,6 with all objects of the study met the passing grade score. It means that there is an increasing of 11,9 point in the students’ achievement from the prior-to the treatment with interactive multimedia tool to the first cycle and 13,9 point from the first to the second cycle. All of the objects of the study have also successfully met the passing grade score. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of interactive multimedia in the English teaching and learning process is proved to give significant influence to the students’ final achievement.

Abstrak: This research aimed to describe the child-friendly school policy in two child-friendly pilot primary schools. This research concern: “How does the implementation of child-friendly school policy based child rights at primary school?” The method that used in this research was a qualitative type of phenomenology. The data were collected by observation method, interview, and documentation. The data analysis technique that used was phenomenology research data analysis of Burke Johnson and Larry Christensen. The results showed that there were 3 discoveries related to child-friendly school policies in primary schools. First, the child-friendly school policies were designed and implemented to ensure children's rights were fulfilled. Second, the child-friendly school policies were implemented in learning area, the school social environments, the school’s physical environment, and infrastructure facilities. Third, the child-friendly school policies were applied to create condition conducive and fun in school.

This study aims to describe the image of principal's leadership patterns in the formation of character values in elementary schools. The research design used a case study research at the Elementary School 07 Sintang, the Islamic Elementary School Sintang, and Elementary School Suluh Harapan Sintang. The subjects of the research used the area sampling method because of consideration of the special characteristics of the schools with reference schools, state Islamic schools and private Catholic schools. Data collection is done through observation, in-depth interviews and document studies. The selection of research subjects using the purposive sampling method. The subjects of these researches were 33 people consisting of three principals and 30 teachers. Data validity is done through the triangulation process. The results showed that the dominant leadership patterns in the three schools tended to be dominant in the instructional leader pattern. For the process of forming the students’ character to be more optimized, the principal must do a combination of leadership patterns. Transformative leadership patterns and cultural leadership must be cultivated in strengthening character by innovating strategic programs according to the conditions and abilities of the school. The character strengthening programs that are integrated into students' subjects and extracurricular for students must accommodate the six stages of the pyramid of habituation of character values.

This study aims to determine the implementation of child-friendly education in shapingthe character of low-grade elementary school students at Muhammadiyah SpecialProgramme in the academic year 2013/2014. This research is qualitative research. Thesubjects of the study were low-grade teachers and students. Research procedure includesseveral phases: pre-fi eld, phase fi eld activities, and post-fi eld.The data collection used areinterviews, observation, fi eld notes and documentation. Data is analized through descriptivequalitative: data reduction, data display and verifi cation to draw conclusions. The fi ndingsinform that the child-friendly education is done through routinity, exemplary teachers, thelearning process and the advice given to students. Constraints in the character formationare parenting, environment and the increasing of sophisticated technology. Solutionsare done through home visit, through books liaison and communication with parents. Theconclusion from this study is the implementation of child-friendly education in shapingthe character of low grade students performed in a variety of activities both inside andoutside the learning process of the learning process. Child-friendly education is done inSD Muhammadiyah Special Program Kotta West can shape the character of students.

This research aimed to describe language appropriateness of 2013 Curriculum text book for 1st Grade’s 1st Theme.This research was conducted with qualitative approach by document analysis method. The document utilized in this research was 1st Grade’s 1st Theme of text book which was not published by Ministry of Education and Culture. The research data was collected through content analysis utilizing validated instuments. The data was analyzed with Krippendof quantitatie analysis techniqe including data collection, sample determination, data recording, data reduction, conclusion drawing and recount. The results show that 1st book of non Ministry of Education and Culture publication has fulfilled all the determined criteria achieving good grade with 82.69% of Language Appropriateness. The weakness of this book is inappropriate materials sequence order, utilization of inappropriate words for children development, and utilization of inconsistent icons/symbols. The 2nd book of non Ministry of Education and Culture publication had fulfilled all the determined criteria achieving fair grade with 78.36% of Language Adbisability. The weakness of this book was utilization of inappropriate words for children development, and material suitability to intelectual development of the students.

The background of this research is fact in the field regarding low knowledge of the community about disaster mitigation. Besides, there is no knowledge material presentation about volcano eruption disaster mitigation that routinely scheduled at schools in disaster prone areas. A media is needed to deliver knowledge material about mitigation and can be integrated in learning. This research aims to develop and determine the feasibility of picture story books about volcano eruption disaster mitigation for elementary school students in disaster prone areas. This is a Research and Development which carried out eight stages. The result of the assessments from the media expert is 85.33 (very good), material expert is 89.6 (very good), language expert is 76 (good), product test is 95.08 (very good), and application test is 88.66 (very good). All assessments average score is 86.93 converted into qualitative data is in the category of "Very Good".
