Abstract

This research is aimed to determine the relation of customer orientation, customer opportunism, resource commitment, contractual agreements, and reverse logistic capabilities as well as the relation of reverse logistic capabilities and reverse logistics cost savings. A statistical analysis method focused on testing hypotheses, path analysis, is used as the method of this research. Samples taken in this research involve both small and medium business enterprises (SMEs) in the areas of retail, manufacturing, handicrafts, and drug sellers (drug stores and pharmacies) located in Surabaya, Malang, Singaraja, and Denpasar. Those respondents, moreover, are directly involved in reverse logistics process as well as interacting with suppliers. The results of this research then show that there is a positive relation between customer orientation and reverse logistic capabilities. It is also known that there is a negative relation between customer opportunism and reverse logistic capabilities although the relation is less significant. Furthermore, there is also a positive relation between resource commitment and reverse logistic capabilities. There is also a positive relation between contractual agreements and reverse logistic capabilities although it is not significant. And, it is also shown that there is a positive relation between reverse logistic capabilities and cost savings. Thus, it may be concluded that all five hypotheses proposed in this research have indeed been proven empirically although there are a few variables showing less significant relations, which means that these variables less affect or impact on reverse logistic capabilities and ultimately on cost savings.

Abstract

Public sector organizations, namely governments, are described as “non-productive and inefficient organization”. This negative image of public sector organizations has arisen as a consequence of low public sector organization performance. Public sector performance improvement can be done by manipulating motivational dimensions of public service employee. This research aims to empirically test effect of public service motivation and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) on organizational performance in the public sector of Indonesia. In addition, this study also focuses on individual factor of motivation, such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This paper employed 108 respondents that were sampled using convenient sampling. The result showed that there were positive significant influences of public service motivation and job satisfaction on organizational performance. Unfortunately, this study failed to give a proof that OCB influences organizational performance. Moreover, this study showed that there is differences level of motivational between men and women. On average, women have job satisfaction and public service motivation higher than men. This implies that women more satisfy at work than men, and women more likely to value intrinsic reward than men

Employee performance (Y) can be explained by the discipline of work through regression Y = 0,646 + 0,849 X. This shows the influence of employee discipline (X) on employee performance (Y) is positive at 0,849, thus if the variable work discipline has increased 0,849 then the variable performance of employees will also increase number of 0,646.

Abstract

The research was intended to investigate the relationship between tax tariff and the compliance of tax payer; and how this relationship was affected by type of income (endowed income vs earned income). The degree of the tax payer compliance was measured based on reported income. The treatment of the experiment was conducted in accordance with variables of reported income (endowed v.s. earned income) and variables of tax tariff (15% vs 30%). The testing results on the impact of endowed income towards the degree of tax payer compliance indicated that there was no distinct difference on the degree of tax payer compliance towards the application of lower tax tariff of 15% as well as higher tax tariff of 30%. This premise possibly resulted from the nature of the participants as a risk averse receiving endowed income, providing that how hard they worked, they received constant amount of incomes. The testing toward participants receiving earned income revealed that they responded positively toward the increase of tax tariff by encouraging the degree of compliance to report their tax. This issue is in line with economics theory stating that tax-evasion-gamble brings higher risks whenever the tax tariff rises. Thus, the risk faced by the tax payer will increase in the line with the incline of audit and penalty probability.

Abstract

This study examines manufacturing capabilities from the perspective of resource-based view of the firm. It explores the role and capabilities in manufacturing firms that cannot be easily duplicated. Such resources and capabilities in manufacturing firms are formed by employees’ internal learning based on cross training and suggestion system, external learning from customer and suppliers, and proprietary processes and equipment developed by the firms. Based on data from 38 manufacturing firms in East Java, the paper empirically demonstrated that competitive advantage in manufacturing result from proprietary processes and equipment which, in turn, is driven by external and internal learning. In other words this study found that (1). Greater internal learning leads to more proprietary processes and equipment. (2) Greater internal learning leads to more proprietary processes and equipment (3). Greater proprietary process and equipment leads to higher competitive manufacturing performance. (4). The alignment between proprietary process and equipment and the manufacturing strategy leads to maximum competitive advantage.

This research object is one of the UKM convection called Scissors Convection on jl. Simorejo 6, Surabaya. Data analysis technique in this research are using content analysis and matrixes as the instrument. Matrixes that used in this data analysis are External Factor Evaluation (EFE), Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), Competitive Profile Matrix (CPM), Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT), Grand Strategy, and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). Also, triangulation technique as source consistency experiment towards data and operation strategy based on Roger G. Schroeder’s Operation Management. Result of this research proved that the appropriate business strategy for Scissors Convection are product development strategy for variation and product design while the best operation strategy is product innovator strategy.

Besides that, this research considere size of organization as moderating variable. We separate size become two proxies. University as represent high size complexity and non university as represent as low size complexity. The purpose of this research is to analyze user participation and task uncertainty as antecedents of information systems performance and consider size of organization, higher education institutions. Samples are several higher education institutions in Jogjakarta province. In general the result partially supported the hypothesis that user participation and task uncertainty are predictor of information systems performance and size of organization is considered as moderating variable partially
