Abstract

Emotional maturity of an individual sticks and grows in line with his/her physical growth, including that of Secondary School students. Their emotional development can be viewed through general activities they conduct. There are some factors which assumptively promote their emotional maturity, but they can be mainly grouped into two categories, i.e. internal and external ones. The internal factors can be sub-grouped into physical and psychological ones. Physical factor develops in line with the age, where the older they are, the better their body builds are. The psychological development will none theless follows this physical growth, so as to become more emotionally mature. One of the external factor which can influence the development of thei emotional maturity is the school counceling practice. The main school counceling practice serves problem solving in the area of students individual conduct in relation to others. The school counceling office is in charge of assisting the students' emotional development to reach their emotional maturity.

Abstract

The research is served to identify : (1) the significance of discussion method started by giving the question and the assignment, (2) the difference between higher and lower level of student ability in solving problem of Physics , (3) the interaction of using discussion method started by giving questions and assignments, and student ability in problem solving of Physics, to Physic learning achievement in Thermodynamics.             This Research was conducted from May 2008 to June 2008, using experiment method. The population is all students of grade XI SMA Negeri Mojogedang Karanganyar. The sample is assigned to two out of all classes, those are: IPA I as Experiment I class and IPA II as experiment II class. The data were collected using test, documentation and observation. The data was analyzed under two ways anova constructively served by Minitab 15 software.                                The data analysis results in conclusions that: (1) there is a significant difference of using discussion method started by giving questions and assignments, (2) there is a difference between higher and lower level student ability in problem solving of Physics, (3) there is interaction of using discussion method started by giving the question and the assignment, student ability in problem solving of Physics to learning achievement in Physics. Following Anova test results in conclsion that discussion method started by giving the assignments is tentatively more effective than that started by giving the questions. The high student ability in problem solving of Physics also gives the better influence.

Abstract

Learning Bology is focussed on the students’ involvement and activeness to make them easier to understand the instructional materials on the concepts of biology. To develop the existing teaching methodology at SMP Negeri I Karanganyar, Recoprocal Teaching is implemented as one of cooperative teaching strategy which enables the mutual activities of teachers and students under four understanding strategy, i.e. summerizing, questioning, clarifying and predicting. This research is intended to to identify the strategic significance of Reciprocal Teaching on the biology achievement of the seven graders of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar. The sample of this reserach are students of class VIIA and VIIB who are determined by random sampling technique. The t-test analysis technique results in computation that working t is 1.902 and table t is 1.675 under the level of sihnificance of 5%. The result shows that reciprocal Teaching has a significant influence on the achievement in biology of the students of VII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar.

Abstract

This research serves an analysis to prove the relevance of the score of National Standardized Test towards the achievement in Dasar-Dasar Akuntansi subject for the students of Accounting Department Study Program, IKIP PGRI Madiun. The population of this research cover the students of Accounting Department Study Program, semester one, term 2006/2007. Data resources of this research consist of documents taken from records of students’ standardized national test score and academic achievement record.The data are then analyzed under the statistic analysis of correlation product moment formulae by the significant rate of 95 which results in operating r of 0.279 less than table r of 0.361. This shows that the score of standardized national scores do not make any significance on the achievement in the subject of Dasar-Dasar Akuntansi I of the students of IKIP PGRI Madiun, in the way that the alternative hypothesis is rejected.

Abstract

Teachers’ work satisfaction becomes one of dimensions for measuring the teachers’ performance in carrying out their educational tasks. Work satisfaction is originated from the establishment of motivation as the unity of concept of needs, encouraging objectives and rewards. Satisfaction is a perception of an individual under which he feels that he has perceived what he hopes through his job, where there is no significant difference between his want and his gain. Work satisfaction is experienced by teachers in relation to their duties and responsibilities as educational staff at schools.             This research is intended to identify the determining exogenous variables consisting of schools’ organizational climate, head masters’ leadership, teachers’ professionalism and work motivation, and the manifest variables’ indicators which directly or indirectly influence the teachers’ work satisfaction at SMUs in Madiun.             This research is served under corelational design by confirmatory model which is initiated by a thorough theoretical review. The confirmatory factors is served to measure the model fitness towards the data drawn for analysis. Model fitness implemented in this research is Goodness of Fit (GOF).             The analysis is carried out based on the linear relationship among variables under Structural Equation Model (SEM) by Linear Structural Relationship (LISREL).             The overall analysis results in conclusions that: determining factor which influence the teachers’ work satisfaction is schools’ organizational climate by 0.335, successively the determining factor of headmasters’ leadership and work motivation show the equal score of 0.349  and determining factor of teachers’ professionalism shows the least score of 0.282. This recommends a serious attention of the local authority to encourage the development of teachers’ professionalism indicators which can not be inevitably overlooked for educational quality.             The total direct influence of motivation towards the teachers’ work satisfaction is 0.349. The confirmatory analysis shows that the teachers’ motivation is fit which is proved by the significance of motivation variable at the level of α/2 (0.025) equals to ± 1.96. Being seen under probability (P) score, all of the motivation dimension variables are less than 0.05 so as to confirm that the loading factor is significant.             The overall analysis results in conclusions that: determining factor which influence the teachers’ work satisfaction is schools’  dimention recognition with estimate value 0,628. Its means recognition dimention of variable (Y2)  to be explanation for 62,8%, and more than  60,6% influence reserachs for other variable.

Abstract

Research aims to improve student achievement half of VB Biology Education Program at Teachers' Training College-Madison PGRI courses Professional Education II. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR ), with V semester students study subjects Prodi education PGRI Biology Teachers' Training College- Madison with a number of 41 students. Collecting data using a test sheet for students and the quality of the data observation sheet for the implementation of learning activities which include faculty and student learning. The results showed an average value of 59.8 in the first cycle, while in the second cycle was 69.9, an increase of 10.1 or 16.88 %. The quality of learning with the application of methods Talking Chips, which includes data quality faculty and students through observation sheet has increased. Data quality faculty activities in the first cycle was 79.1 with an active predicate, while in the second cycle of 91.6 with very active predicate, thus an increase of 12.5 or 15.8 %. The quality of student learning data in the first cycle was 72.7 with an active predicate, while the second cycle of 95.4 with very active predicate, thus an increase of 22.7 or 31.2 %. The conclusions of this research is the application of methods Talking Chips in cooperative learning can improve student learning achievement Profession Kependidikkan half-PGRI Madison VB Teachers' Training College .

Abstract

This research serves a consideration for the Municipality Office of Religion Department and the managerial staff of schools under this area in effort of developing the teachers’ professionalism. Even when the competency-based curriculum does not suggest the central role of teachers, they still have important roles in developing and producing science. They are in charge of managing the process of the science development, which in turn needs professionalism. The development of teachers’ professionalism is inevitably important focus of the stakeholders.             The research is conducted at Madrasah Tsanawiah around Madiun Regency under: 1) observation, and 2) interview techniques. The analysis is carried out by quantitative and qualitative approaches.             The analysis results in conclusions as follows: 1) the development of teachers’ professionalism has become the rational conduct at the Madrasah by underpinning strategies, such as: sending teachers to higher scolarships and training programs. The regulation of national education system requires the teachers’ professionalism, like the regulation No 2, 1989, No 20, 2003, and the regulation for teachers and lecturers. 2) Although they realize that the higher shcolarship is not risk-free, teachers are eager to join them for the professionalism development and their better life to live.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to identify the significance game and motivation on the mastery of mathematical concepts. The monopoly and snake-ladder games are chosen for the game variable, while motivation variable proposes high and low motivational strenghts. The method of this research is experiment, and the research design is treatment by level 2x2. The hypotheses of the research are tested by two-way variant analysis (ANAVA). The results of the research show that: (1) the mastery on mathematical concepts of students with monopoly game is higher than those with snake-ladder game, (2) there is significant influence of game and motivation towards the mastery of mathematical concepts, (3) in the group of students who belong to the high motivational strength, monopoly game helps them perceive the higher mastery of matematical concepts than  snake-ladder game,    (4) in the group of students who belong to the low motivational strength, snake-ladder game helps them perceive the higher mastery of matemayical concepts than  monopoly game.

Abstract

The goals of research were (1) to findings the difference between the students’ appreciation of prose fiction ability taught by experiential learning, synectic, and direct instruction learning model, (2) to findings the difference of prose fiction ability for students who have high and low emotional quotient, (3) to findings an interaction between the use of learning model and emotional quotient affecting prose fiction appreciation.The research applies quasi experimental method and 3 x 2 factorial research design. The technique of collecting data made use questionnaires for measuring students’ emotional quotient and test for measuring the prose fiction ability. Validity test consists of content validity, surface validity, and empirical test for searching distinction value, the grade of exercise difficulties, and the reliability. For the questionnaires, empirical wasapplied to recognize the validity and reliability.The normality test used the method of Kolmogrov-Smirnov. The homogenitytest used the method of Levene’s test of equality of error variances. Data analysis uses Anava factor two by SPSS computer program. The inferential analysis revealedthe conclusion as follows: (1) There is a difference in those students who have been taught by experiential learning, synectic, and behavioristic learning model. The students’ average ability in appreciating prose fiction taught by experiential learning model is higher than those taught by synectic learning model. The students’ ability of prose fiction appreciation taught by synectic learning model is higher than those taught by behavioristic learning model. (2) There is a significant difference in students’ ability in appreciating prose fiction. The students who have high emotional quotient are able to appreciate prose fiction better than those who have low emotional quotient. The ability of prose fiction appreciation belongs to high emotional quotient students is higher than those who have less.  (3) There is an interaction between the use of learning model and emotional quotient in affecting students’ appreciation of prose fiction ability.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1) to identify whatever themes are proposed in poetry anthology AIJP by Wiji Thukul, 2) to describe social criticisms in Wiji Thukul’s poetries, 3) to describe Wiji Thukul’s social criticisms in poetry anthology AIJP by Wiji Thukul, and 4) to identify ethic, moral, behavioral values in poetry anthology by Wiji Thukul.             This research is carried out under qualitative-descriptive method by content analysis. Content analysis method is applied by literary structure and sociology. Author sociological approach is also brought in to depict the author’s background. The data are drawn under purposive sampling technique bearing 5 titles out of 136 poetries available in poetry anthology by Wiji Thukul which represent the social criticism theme. Data validity is assured by the use of theoretical triangulation by structural and sociological theories.             The analysis brings about conclusions as follows: first, under sociological criticism perspectives of society, Wiji Thukul poses two aspects: 1) social protest, and 2) social realism. The two aspects are obviously belong to the ‘home’ of social criticism by literary media. Second, ethic, moral, and behavioral values belong to the lower social class occupied as: labour, padicab drivers, trash-collectors etc.
