Abstract

This research is served to develop teaching instruments which refer to 4-D Model, including: interactive multimedia, Lesson Plan, Syllabus, Student Worksheet and Evaluation, for the subject of Genetics through two-cycle action research. This research aso attempts to develop the effectiveness of teaching by the application of teaching media which visualize the abstract concepts of the Genetics class consisting of 42 students of semester IV class D of Biology Study Program, the Faculty of Natural Science and Mathematics, IKIP PGRI MADIUN. Teaching process is implemented by One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, and the data are analyzed descriptively. The analysis results in conclusions that: the teaching-learning  scenario is carried out well, learning acitivities are well-developed by the use of multimedia instruments. The observation finds that one student has higher level of learning activities than the average of others by using multimedia instruments by 34.57% at the Lesson Plan 1, 28.14% at the Lesson Plan 2, and 45.57% at the Lesson Plan 3. Interactive multimedia model of teaching is able to put students above the classical threshold level by 97.2% leaving one student under the treshold level. Good response against the ineractive multimedia model of teaching is given by 43 students or 81.02%, good response against the teaching materials is 100%. Some aspects which have to be considered are: lecturer has to be well-prepared; students have to be well-assisted in using interactive multimedia apparatus; assurance that students with their own computer apparatus have the required programs and applications; strict coordination among lecturers in utilizing the infrastructures.Keywords: Flash Pro-based Interactive Media, Genetics, 4-D

Abstract

Teaching of history is one out of that of other subjects in schools, which activity includes the implementation of nurturing societal values from one generation to another. Nurturing societal values to students in class can in turn empower their awareness of the past through a systematic learning design. Teachers of history should consequently understand their duty – not only carrying out the proper instructional design, but also nurturing those societal values to students. That duty can only be realized by developing both instructional strategy and value acquisition, so as to contribute as professional history teachers who implement the long life education.Key words : revitalization, teachers’ professionalism

Abstract

Two different views state that one’s intelligent growth is determined by genetic factor by a learning factor . This controversial has been known for a long time. Nowadays, it is said that intelligent growth is determined by both nature and nurture. This is a convergence theory.Whole language is a theory of learning which is rooted from  convergence view. It consists of not only psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics aspects but also language acquisition and language learning. Learning a language is based on these four principles : Learning Theory, The Nature of Language, The Nature of Language Learning and Curriculum. Whole Language is in line with those mentioned above.

Abstract

The  objectives  of this reseach  are:  (1) to help  students  choose  the most  suitable  learning  method,  (2) to serve  qualified  learning  to pass the threshold  level, (3) to make up the average  students  mark in physics.  The method  of the study is experiment  applied  on students  of Grade X, SMA 6 Madiun.  The sample  is taken  under  cluster-random   sampling  technique having  class  XC  and  XD.  Data  on  students   achievement   are  taken  by cognitive   test,  those  of  prior  achievement   are  taken  by  documentation technique,   those   of  creativity   and  abstraction   skill  are  taken   by  test. Hypothetical  examination  is done under factorial  anava 2x2x2x2.The  results  show  that:  (1)  there  is a different   influence  between guided  inquiry and free-modified   inquiry technique  (0.005 < 0.05), (2) there is influence  of high and low prior achievement  (0.000  < 0.05), (3) there is influence  of high  and  low students  creativity  (0.039  < 0.05),  (4) there  is influence  of high and low abstarction  skill  (0.014 < 0.05), (5) there is no interaction   between   guided   and free-modified     unquiry technique  with students  prior achievement  (0.043 < 0.05), (6) there is interaction  between guided and free-modified   unquiry technique  with students creativity  (0.043 < 0.05), (7) there  is interaction  between  guided  and free-modified    unquiry technique  with  students  abstraction   skill  (0.032  < 0.05),  (8) there  is no interaction   between   guided   and free-modified     unquiry   technique   with students  prior  achievement,   creativity   and  abstraction   skill  towards  the achievement  (0.595 > 0.05).Key words: guided inquiry technique, free-modified inquiry technique, experiment, achievement, prior achievement, creativity, abstraction skill

Abstract

This research  is arranged  to analyze:  1) the difficulties  found by  teachers   in  developing   mathematics    teaching   models,   2)  the effectiveness    of  verbal  and  non-verbal   information    construction strategy  in teaching  mathematics.  The objectives  of this research  are then: to identify the effectiveness  of verbal and non-verbal  information construction  strategy in teaching mathematics,  and to find alternatives of developing  the competency-based   learning  model. The research  is carried   out  under  descriptive   qualitative   method   by  class  action research   design.  The  subjects  of  the  research   are  the  students   of SMA Negeri 1 Ponorogo.Generally   in the cycle  I the  students  show  development   in proposing   creativity   verbally   and  non-verbally when  answering questions  by making  use of mathematical   logic. But the researchers have not yet trust the result obtained in cycle Ias consistence,  because there  are  still  some  students   having   sufficient   scores  within   he framework  of the 65 threshold  level cognitively.  The average score is 75.52, while there are some students show inactiveness  in the learning process.  The second  cycle  is then regarded  important  to carry out.The  analysis   taken  up  by  observation    upon  students   and teachers activities,  tests, questionnaires   and field notes shows the development   in the second  cycle  for some  aspects,  like the average score  and make-ups  against  threshold  level.  The  average  cognitive score is 85.33,  against  which  the researchers   decide  not to continue to third cycle.  The teachers   difficulties   in developing   the teaching models can be analytically  solved by development  in guiding students discussion technique, encourage students to ask questions or to pass down opinion, and relating the existing concepts and the new ones by making use of real appliance which are available around us. The students enthusiasm gives rise to the effectiveness of verbal and non-verbal information construction strategy in teaching mathematics.Key terms: verbal and non verbal strategy

Abstract

Learning is a teaching learning process through the creation of comfortable and effective learning environment. In general, contextual learning is considered as a concept which helps teachers relate the content of the learning material to the real situation and drive students to make some relationship between the working knowledge and its application in their lives as family as well as society members.This research is aimed at (1) describing that the result of IPS learning through CTL with the best benefit of environment as the learning source is better than conventional learning, (2) describing that students response toward CTL leaning with the best benefit of environment as the learning source is better than conventional learning, (3) describing the existing constraints when the learning through CTL is at work.The research design is of experimental feature with two group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this research cover forty four-year students of State Elementary School 01 Kartoharjo Madiun each for experimental group or class and control group or class. The research instruments used to collect the data include questionnaire, learning test, and observation sheet.Based upon the result of the analysis it is found that (1) the learning result of the students joining the CTL learning activities is better when compared with that of those joining the conventional learning. The mean of the experimental class after the treatment of CTL learning is 83 while the mean of the control class with conventional learning is 62.68; (2) the students’ response towards the implementation of CTL learning is generally positive, (3) the existing constraints are due to the fact that the learning facilities and time allotment are limited and the number of the students is too big. The conclusion is that the research using CTL learning indicates better learning result and better students’ response than that of conventional learning.Key Words: CTL Approach, Environment, IPS Learning Source

Abstract

This study implements the power of two strategy on subject microteaching. The purpose of this study was to determine effect and improvement students teaching competence use of the power of two strategy. The method of this study was qualitative descriptive. Subject of study were student microteaching lecture class VIB of VIB1 group in biology department Faculty of Mathematic and Natural Science Education IKIP PGRI MADIUN Academic Year 2013/2014. The data obtained through assessment sheets using two instruments. That are learning plan and learning practice instruments. The results of this study showed an increase in the value of the average student in the learning plan. The average on first meeting was 2.80, second meeting 3.02 before apply the power of two strategy, became 3.50 in third meeting and 3.81 in fourth meeting after apply increase the power of two strategy. The average increase also occurred in leaning practice. The average on first practice learning was 3.01, second practice learning was 3.06 before apply the power of two strategy, became 3.30 in third practice learning and 3.52 in fourth practice learning after apply the power of two strategy.Keywords: the power of two strategy, learning plan, practice learning.

Abstract

Considered under the development path, students of secondary school belong to the 3rd phase of 14 up to 21 years of age plunging in teenager’s period. The teenager’s period has attracted many experts’ attentions which is then assumed as the period of sexual maturity. For educators, this period becomes an interesting focus of study viewed through other aspect, rather than sexual maturity. Socio-psychologically, this period brings them into broader interaction with adults. They do not belong to the subordinate class as children anymore; rather they interact horizontally with adults.Radical change experienced by youngsters in periode of puberty often results in bewilderment which negatively entails curiousity to peform sexual conducts. Such evidence should be viewed educationally as a problem which needs to be cleared up. They urgently need educational hands to lead their curiousity to the proper end. The education is carried out to serve the needed information, knowledge and understanding all about sexual life so as to perform the proper and healthy sexual conducts. The assumption the writer proposes is that there is a significance enfluence of sex education towards the positive communication on teenagers.Kata kunci: Pendidikan seksual, pengembangan sikap berkomunikasi

Abstract

The main objectives of this research is to develop the achievement of the students of grade IX A of SMP 1 Takeran, Magetan through the implementation of process skill approach under inquiry method through collaboration of teachers and lecturers. The research setting includes grade IX A s SMP 1 Takeran, Magetan, the subject of the research are all students of this class which covers 33 people, including 16 males and 17 females. Data are drawn from students’ achievement through test, students’ motivation through close questionaire, students’ process skill through obsrvation checklist, and students’ activity through actvivity record.The analysis brings abouyt results, that: 1) in the cognitive domain, the student achievement raises from 56.90 to 64.10 in cycle I, and it becomes 71.20 in cycle II. 2) the percentage of threshold level raises from 12% to 42% in cycle I, and it becomes 87% in cycle II. 3) in the affective domain, the student motivation raises from 30% of those with high motivation scale in cycle I to 88% in cycle II; students’ process skill raises from 42% of those with high scale skill in cycle I to 91% in cycle II.The results are then concluded that the implementation of process skill under inquiry model through collaboration of teachers and lecturers for the students of grade IX A SMP 1 Takeran, Magetan can improve the students’ learning outcomes.Keywords :  learning outcomes, team teaching, teaching method

Abstract

Ecosystem has been one target of the UNOs millenium development goals. The decision is sited because the safety of the ecosystem is regarded to be critical around the development of science and technology of 20th century which result in not only well-being but also disaster for human mankind, pertaining to complicated problems. The role of technology has shifted along the way with the development of human history, from the support system to power which determines the cosietal behaviour and interaction.Technology is always coined with science, since technlogy is the embodiment of the science. Hence, technology will only develop in the assistance of the cultural behaviour which contributes  strategic advantage for human being. The development of technology inavitably requires the deep structure of ethics, moral and commitment to establish the basis of a nations culture.
