Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to improve the students’ cultural diversity based on the application of role playing learning models in elementary schools. This type of research is classroom action research, conducted in two cycles. The data is collected by observation and questionnaire techniques. This research was conducted on fourth grade students of 33 students. The success of the research is determined by the class average score that must be at least 70. The obtained data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that there was an increase in the students' cultural diversity from first cycle to second cycle. The results showed a change in cultural diversity attitudes of elementary school children after role playing learning, where students could respect and appreciate the differences of cultural, ethnic, racial, and regional language of students. Role playing learning can be applied in elementary schools to improve the national cultural diversity attitude of students. Keywords: Cultural Diversity; Multicultural; Role Playing

Abstract

AbstractThis research is motivated by the needs for teaching materials that can explain human digestive system material concretely in the form of comics because with the combination of verbal and nonverbal language in comics can expedite students to understand the contents of the material. The purpose of this research is to describe how the process of developing teaching materials in the form of comics on the concept of the human digestive system for 5th-grade students of elementary schools. The research method used in this research is the research and development method. The data collection techniques used are literature studies and questionnaires, while the data were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques by analyzing quantitative data and then interpreted in a qualitative. The results of research and development show that the process of comic teaching materials development on the material of the human digestive system goes through six stages namely data analysis, data collection, product design, product design validation, product improvement, and product trials. Moreover, the validity test of comic teaching materials on the concept of the human digestive system has a category of "very feasible" with design test results of 85%, material test results of 90%, and educational test results of 89.3%. While the trial results of 5th-grade students' responses were 88% and included in the criteria of "very good".Keywords: Teaching Material, Comic, Human Digestive System

Abstract

AbstractThis research is a quasi-experimental research with the purpose to find out the effect of open ended problem on mathematical problem solving skill of elementary school students. The research was conducted on grade 5 students of Gemiring Kidul 1 and Gemiring Kidul 2 Elementary School. These two classes used for research have an equivalent level of skill. Elementary School 1 Gemiring Kidul as an experimental group with 21 students of grade 5 and Elementary School 2 Gemiring Kidul as a control group with 20 students of grade 5. This research has two variables; the independent variable is the implementation of open-ended problem, while the dependent variable is the skill to solve mathematical problems. Both groups were given a pre-test and post-test. The instrument used to measure the problem-solving ability was obtained through a description test of five questions that had been declared valid by experts. Data were analyzed using a t-test. The results of the research revealed that the average pre-test score was 54.62 to 82.29 after the post-test was done using the open-ended problem. The results of t-test calculations obtained tcount of 8.456 and ttable of 1.677 with a significance level of 0.05. The data can be interpreted that tcount> ttable, so H0 is rejected. This shows that learning by implementing open ended problems can significantly improve mathematical problem solving skill. Keywords: Open-Ended Problem; Mathematical Problem Solving

Abstract

The success of a learning program is marked by the achievement of competence by students. One component that can assist teachers in conveying concepts and helping students achieve these competencies is learning media. Learning media is a channel used by teachers to convey messages so that students are motivated to learn and make it easier to understand certain concepts. Current learning media in accordance with technological developments have changed from printed to digital. One example of a teaching material capable of conveying a picture or sound message is video. Learning videos have the advantage of being able to display real examples. However, conditions in the field indicate that the use of video in schools, especially in elementary schools, has not been widely used. This is due to several factors, including the ability of teachers to produce instructional videos. Based on these findings, the purpose of this study is to develop a digital teaching material design in the form of learning videos using the powtoon application and improve students' understanding. The development model that will be used in this research is the 4D model, namely Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate. The subjects of this study were fourth grade students in one of the public elementary schools in Pandeglang Regency. The results of this study are digital teaching materials, namely learning videos designed using the help of the powtoon application on the topic of the properties of light with a very good category and understanding the concepts of students related to the concept of light properties with the quality of achievement in the good category, namely 70.30%.

Abstract

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to determine the effect of the problem-based learning model in improving student engagement on mathematics subjects. This type of research is an quasi-experimental with the pretest-posttest control group design approach. The independent variables of this research are Problem-Based Learning and student engagement models in mathematics as the dependent variable. Participants in this research were 60 elementary school students who were divided into 2 groups, first were 30 elementary school students K1 as the experimental group who received learning with problem-based learning model and 30 elementary school students K2 as the control group that received the conventional learning model. Data collection techniques in this research using non-test techniques consisting of observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data were analyzed by independent samples test. The results showed there was a significant influence of learning using problem-based learning model could improve student engagement in mathematics. Keywords: Problem Based Learning; Student Engagement.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of available mathematics teaching materials that are attractive and in accordance with the characteristics of primary school students. In addition, students' mathematical understanding is still low regarding the Geometry material. Based on these problems, the purpose of this research is to develop rainbow book teaching materials and to analyze the impact of using these teaching materials on mathematical understanding of students. This research is a development research using the 4D model, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. At the disseminate stage, an analysis of the impact of using teaching materials on student understanding is carried out. The instruments used were questionnaires and tests, questionnaires were used to assess the appropriateness of teaching materials both in terms of content and media. While the test is used to see students' mathematical understanding. Based on the results of the development, it was found that the rainbow book teaching material was feasible based on the content and media expert's assessment. The assessment of the two experts shows that the rainbow book can be used as teaching material in geometry materials for primary school students. In addition, based on the results of user responses, students stated that students showed good responses to learning using the rainbow book. The results of the comprehension test showed that the remainder after learning to use the rainbow book obtained an understanding score of 83.75 with a very good achievement category. Keywords: Teaching Materials, Rainbow Book, Student Understandig

Abstract

AbstractThe Indonesian government launched an online learning program in the education area to break the chainof the coronavirus (covid-19) spreading. But, online learning requires more facilities such as internet access and smartphone/notebook which is not all equipped in rural areas. Therefore, this research has aimed to know the situation of the online learning process in rural areas during the co-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in Purwosari sub-district, Bojonegoro district, East Java with 53 of elementary school teachers as the participant. Online questionnaires that consist of 5 statements were used to collect the data. This research showed that the Whatsapp group was the famous platform for online learning. Besides that, the teachers have been facilitated by the school in online learning. On the other hand, internet access, learning innovation, and students’ facilities for online learning become obstacles in online learning in rural areas.Keywords:covid-19; learning process; elementary school; rural area

Abstract

AbstractThis research was conducted to improve the teachers' English mastery, especially in elementary school teachers in Tangerang, Indonesia. The method of this research was a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design by using nonequivalent control group design (pretest-posttest), to compare the English skill levels before and after treatment through the English Instructions book. The researcher took samples of 40 teachers from several Elementary School teachers in Tangerang. The result of the research found that the average post-test score of the experimental group was 88.06 and the average post-test score of the control group was 79.40, which means that there was an increased score of 8.65 or 11%. The hypothesis of the research stated that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted, it means that there were significant changes in improving the teachers' English skill of Elementary School using the English instructions book. Keywords: English Instructions Book, Elementary School
