Abstract

The story of the slaughter of Abraham's son has attracted a lot of attention among Muslims and non-Muslims. This is because there are different views in the Koran and the Bible regarding who was the figure behind Abraham's slaughter of his son. This research is included in the research library study or literature review. The method taken is descriptive-analysis with a comparative approach between the two books. To produce specific and detailed data, the researcher presents two interpreters in the Koran and the Bible, namely Quraish Shihab as an interpreter of the Koran and Matthew Henry as an interpreter of the Bible. The findings were based on research, namely the first male figure who was slaughtered in the Quran according to the viewpoint of Quraish shihab, namely Ismail. Meanwhile, according to Matthew Henry, that is Isaac. The two factors that cause the difference in interpretation are that the Quraish Shihab in its literature refers to the interpretation of Tabataba'i, which refers to ismail. Apart from that, Quraish Shihab also performed inter-verse munasbahs related to the slaughter of Abraham for his son, while Matthew Henry interpreted the editors in the Bible in a textual way who stated that it was Isaac who was slain. The third impact of interpretation on Muslims and non-Muslims is how they take lessons from the story regarding the meaning of patience, obedience and sincerity. Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas tentang fenomena prank yang berkembang di media sosial yang sebagian besar aksinya sudah jauh dari kode etik humor atau bercanda yang diajarkan dalam tuntunan al-Qur’an dan hadis Nabi Saw. Artikel ini akan dikaji dengan menggunakan pendekatan hierarchy of needs Abraham Maslow. Dalam hadis nabi, istilah prank memiliki kesamaan makna dengan al-muda’abah atau al-muzahah yang sederhananya bermakna humor atau senda-gurau. Berdasarkan teori hierarchy of needs, dari kelima level hirarki kebutuhan manusia, pelaku aksi prank sudah berada pada level ketiga, keempat, dan kelima. Di level ketiga (social needs), para pelaku prank butuh untuk diterima, dicintai di lingkungan sosialnya (social needs) seperti keluarga, teman, atau lingkungan sekitar. Pada level keempat, pelaku prank butuh akan self-esteem (harga diri) berupa apresiasi dari lingkungan sosialnya seperti status (selebgram, youtuber, atau influencer), ketenaran dan viral. Sedangkan di level kelima, merupakan level tertinggi dari kebutuhan manusia yaitu self actualization di mana para pelaku aksi prank sudah mencapai tahap ketagihan atau candu apabila aksi-aksi yang dilakukan berhasil dan mendapat apresiasi dari masyarakat. Dampaknya adalah mereka mengabaikan akan etika, nilai moral, norma, dan nilai-nilai agama. Sebab, mereka sudah terfokus dan terobsesi dengan eksistensi di media sosial. Oleh karena itu, sejatinya prank atau humor harusnya menghasilkan energi positif yang sama dari kedua bela pihak, bukan salah satu pihak (pelaku prank merasakan bahagia dan korban prank juga meraskan kebahagiaan yang sama). Artinya, aksi prank yang dilakukan harus menjung tinggi nilai-nilai humanistik, yaitu memanusiakan manusia.

Abstract

This research explores the characteristics of stories and parables in the Quran. This research is qualitative research using exploratory and analytical methods. The results found regarding the characteristics of the story in the Quran, namely; arranged in themes, has a purpose and is substantially religious; not arranged sequentially and not at length; several stories are told repeatedly which vary. While the characteristics of parables in the Quran, namely; explanation of abstract meaning; the parallels between the conditions of the parable referred to and their equivalents; a balance between the parable and the analogous state.

Abstract

Abstract The meaning of I’jaz underwent development in the hand of Quran believers. Quraish Shihab, one of Indonesia mufassir said that the Holy Quran and its miracles do not know the limit of time and space. In ‘Ulûm al-Qur`ân, the speciality which is owned by the Holy Quran is its miracle’s aspects. Those aspects include the spects of its literary, law and creed, science and unseen signals. According to Quraish Shihab, the speciality of the Holy Quran is divided into two; miracles and privileges. For him, the miracle’s aspects of the Holy Quran are literary aspects, scientific and unseen signals. While the privilege of the Holy Koran are another things which are not included in the Holy Koran’s miracles. The things under consideration to say about the miracle of the Holy Quran is that the Prophet Muhammad is an ummî, social circumstances of the Arab community when The Holy Koran was revealed and the type of the Holy Quran’s gradual revelation in some years. Keywords: I’jaz, Miracle, Privilege, Ummi Abstrak Makna I'jaz mengalami perkembangan di tangan orang-orang yang mengimani Al-Quran. Quraish Shihab sebagai salah satu mufassir Indonesia mengatakan bahwa Alquran dan mukjizatnya tidak menegenal batas waktu dan ruang. Dalam ‘Ulûm Al-Quran, kekhasan yang dimiliki oleh Al-Quran adalah aspek i’jaz-nya. Aspek itu meliputi sastra, hukum dan kepercayaan, sains dan isyarat gaib. Menurut Quraish Shihab, kekhasan atau spesialisasi Al-Quran dibagi menjadi dua; keajaiban dan hak istimewa. Baginya, aspek mukjizat Al-Quran adalah aspek sastra, ilmiah dan berita gaib. Sementara keistimewaan Alquran adalah aspek lain yang tidak termasuk dalam mukjizat Alquran. Hal-hal yang mesti dipertimbangkan untuk mengatakan tentang realitas mukjizat Al-Quran adalah bahwa Nabi Muhammad SAW tidak bisa baca tulis (ummî), keadaan sosial jahiliyyah masyarakat Arab ketika Al-Quran diturunkan dan pola pewahyuan Al-Quran bertahap dalam beberapa tahun. Abstract

This article aims to reveal the role of eco-theology in environmental journalism which has rarely been discussed by researchers. This article fills the void that is still not filled. Religion for journalists is appointed as a frame to make news raised in religious moral values. This leads to a question, what is the role of religion (eco-theology) in environmental journalism? After analyzing various objects in the form of books through literature study, this article concludes several things. Among them, has religion has laid down very deep principles of environmental ethics? however, in the reality of human life, especially in Indonesia, it is still so busy with studies of religious formalities. This has resulted in views on issues related to the environment that are less attractive to religious adherents. Second, the environmental ethical values contained in religion can be an inspiration in environmental coverage. This will, as expected by this research, make environmental journalists stand on eco-theological norms to be more pro-environmental conservation.

Abstract

This paper discusses tolerance from Christianity and Islam perspective. What is tolerance: basis, limit, and example in the scripture—the research doing by bibliography approach. Books, journals, and scriptures are the resources. Hopefully, the results can provide a broader understanding of the theology and tolerance field. Thus these works can be used as references. Through discussion, it found that Christianity and Islam talk about tolerance. They tolerate others, even though there are some interpretations to interpret the scripture either in Christianity or Islam, but they are still open to others. Tolerance is a necessity that becomes an advantage to compete with each other in the pursuit of goodness.

Abstract

Abstrak: Radikalisme atas nama Islam kembali marak di Dunia Islam kontemporer. Gerakan ini mewujud dalam berbagai aksi kekerasan dan perlawanan terhadap kelompok-kelompok yang dianggap sebagai musuh Islam. Faktor politik, ekonomi, dan ketidakadilan global yang dbungkus dengan sentimen keagamaan menjadi pendorong kebangkitan gerakan ini. Dengan ideologi “jihad”-nya, mereka menyebarkan pahamnya ke berbagai belahan dunia, tak terkecuali Indonesia. Dengan pendekatan sosio-politik, kajian ini hendak mengkaji ideologi gerakan Jihad Global, pengaruh, dan jaringannya di Indonesia. Dari kajian ini terlihat bahwa gerakan Jihad Global memiliki kaitan erat dengan gerakan reformasi Islam yang merupakan respons atas kemunduran Dunia Islam berhadapan dengan Dunia Barat. Pengembangan ide ini oleh Sayyid Quthb membuat gerakan reformasi bukan sekedar sebagai otokritik atas kondisi umat, namun juga mengeras menjadi ideologi perlawanan terhadap sistem yang dianggap menindas. Ideologi perlawanan inilah yang kemudian mengilhami berbagai gerakan ekstrem di Indonesia pasca reformasi. Abstract: Radicalism in the name of Islam is re-emerging in the contemporary Islamic world. This movement manifested in various acts of violence and resistance against “enemies of Islam”. Political, economic, and global injustice factors wrapped in religious sentiments are the driving forces for the revival of this movement. With ideology of "jihad", they spread their understanding to various parts of the world, including Indonesia. With a socio-political approach, this study aims to examine the ideology of the Global Jihad movement, its influence, and its network in Indonesia. From this study, it can be seen that the Global Jihad movement is closely related to the Islamic reform movement which is a response to the decline of the Islamic world in dealing with the West. The development of this idea by Sayyid Qutb made the reform movement not only as an autocritic of the condition of the ummah, but also hardened into an ideology of resistance to a system that is considered oppressive. This ideology of resistance then inspired various extreme movements in post-reform Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract This paper aims to explain the qashash al-Qur'an about Prophet Ayyub (Job) in his fortitude and patience to face the examination, then take lessons and ibrah for the current social context, where the world community, especially Muslims, is experiencing an examination in the form of the arrival of the Covid 19 outbreak. This paper is the result of the library research with the title "Qashash al-Qur'an: The Study of the Prophet Job's Dua in Surah al-Anbiya 83-84 and Its Contextualization in the Pandemic Period". This article tries to provide an overview of the qashash al-Qur'an on the theme of the Prophet Ayyub with a descriptive-analytical method. So that the good values from an ancient story can be reflected or contextualized into the current condition as material for reflection, lessons, and examples. Based on the author's analysis, the study material is presented in the prayer of Prophet Ayyub which refers to Surah al-Anbiya verses 83-84, so that an understanding of the interpretation of the verse is found, then narrates how the attitude and faith of Prophet Ayyub did not waver despite problems, but he increases his sense of patience, always in gratitude and has a good attitude towards Allah SWT in whatever circumstances.

Abstract

Abstract The theological debate between Jabbariyyah (pre-destination) and Qadariyyah (free will) was polarized during the Covid-19 pandemic. Some Muslims tend to be fatalists (pre-destination), and the others believe in free will on the face of this pandemic. Of course, this is not in line with the moderate principles that Islam brings. Because, in various texts of the Quran, Allah command to balance the welfare of duniawi and hereafter (ukhrawi) life. Among these texts is what Allah said in Surah Al-Qashash verse 77 regarding the command to seek the afterlife and not forgetting sustenance in the world. With the ma'na-cum-maghza approach, this paper answers the significance of the current meaning of the commandment. There are three important points to reveal. The first, al-ma'na al-ta rikhi (historical meaning) of the verse, including advice to Qarun to seek the afterlife's reward without ignorance of the world, good doing, and prohibition of destroying the earth. The second, al-maghza al-tarikhi (the significance of historical phenomena), namely the message to Quraish community to take the middle path by following the Prophet's preaching and still pay attention to the life of the world, and to help others when possible. The third, al-maghza al-mu'as}ir (dynamic significance), namely the principle of the balance of life in the world and the hereafter. Keywords: balancing life; ma'na cum-maghza; Al-Qashash verse 77. Abstrak Perdebatan teologis antar paham Jabbariyyah (pre-destination) dan Qadariyyah (free will) terpolarisasi kembali saat masa pandemi Covid-19. Sebagian umat Islam cenderung bersikap fatalis (pre-destination), dan sebagian lagi meyakini kehendak bebas (free will) dalam menghadapi pandemi. Tentu saja hal ini tak sejalan dengan prinsip moderat yang dibawa Islam. Karena, di berbagai teks Al-Quran, Allah mengajak untuk menyeimbangkan kesejahteraan kehidupan duniawi dan ukhrawi. Di antara teks tersebut ialah apa yang Allah firmankan dalam Surah Al-Qashash ayat 77 tentang perintah untuk mencari bagian akhirat dan tidak melupakan rezeki di dunia. Dengan Pendekatan ma’na cum-maghza, tulisan ini menjawab bagaimana signifikansi makna perintah tersebut saat ini. Ada tiga poin penting yang diungkap. Pertama, al-ma’na al-tarikhi (makna historis) ayat tersebut, yakni perintah terhadap Qarun untuk mencari ganjaran akhirat tanpa abai terhadap dunia, berbuat baik, dan larangan merusak bumi. Kedua, al-maghza al-tarikhiy (signifikansi fenomenal historis), yakni pesan terhadap masyarakat Quraish untuk mengambil jalan tengah dengan mengikuti dakwah Nabi dan tetap memerhatikan kehidupan dunia, dan menolong orang lain saat diberi kelapangan. Ketiga, al-maghza al-mu’as}ir (signifikansi dinamis), yakni prinsip keseimbangan kehidupan dunia dan akhirat. Abstract

This article discusses the story of the Prophet Joseph in the Qur'an. As the story of the Qur'an and the Bible, the story of the Prophet Joseph is very important to find out the difference between the two. Therefore, the approach used is intertextual initiated by Julia Kristeva who seeks to compare the two. By using this approach. There are a lot of differences. In terms of the structure of the Qur'an many simplifications, so the principle of haplology becomes dominant in every fragment. The most fundamental difference between the two is in terms of the theme to be raised, the story of the Prophet Joseph in the Qur'an is themed around the teachings of tawhid, while in the Bible themed power. Keywords: Prophet Joseph, al-Qur'an, Intertextual Abstrak Artikel ini membahas tentang kisah Nabi Yusuf dalam al-Qur’an. Sebagai kisah yang termuat dalam al-Qur’an dan Alkitab, kisah Nabi Yusuf sangat penting untuk ditemukan letak perbedaan antara keduanya. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan yang digunakan adalah intertekstual yang digagas oleh Julia Kristeva yang berusaha untuk membandingkan keduanya. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan ini. Ditemukan banyak perbedaan. Dari segi struktur al-Qur’an banyak melakukan penyederhanaan, sehingga prinsip haplology menjadi dominan dalam setiap fragmen. Perbedaan yang paling mendasar antara keduanya adalah dari segi tema yang hendak dimunculkan, kisah Nabi Yusuf dalam al-Qur’an bertemakan ajaran tauhid, sedangkan dalam Alkitab bertema kekuasaan.
