Abstract

Background: Preconception is an important early stage before pregnancy to determine the quality of the baby to be born. Approximately 24–60% of women, both in developing and developed countries, experience folic acid deficiency because the folic acid content in their daily diet is insufficient to meet the needs of pregnant women. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education about the importance of folic acid on healthy pregnancy preparation in women of childbearing age in Condong Village. Method: This study design was preeksperimen. The research variables were measured at a certain time to obtain a picture of the situation at that time. The population in this study were all women of childbearing age, totaling 67 people. The sampling technique used simple random sampling, resulting in a sample of 46 people. Data collection used a questionnaire, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test. The results of the study showed that preparation in planning a healthy pregnancy before being given education was sufficient for 26 respondents (56.5%), and preparation in planning a healthy pregnancy after being given education was good for 27 respondents (58.7%). The Wilcoxon test analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.005, indicating an effect of preconception education on the role of folic acid on healthy pregnancy planning among women of childbearing age.. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is an effect of preconception education on the role of folic acid on healthy pregnancy planning among women of childbearing age in Condong Village.

Abstract

Early marriage refers to marriage occurring before the age of 18 years and remains a significant social and public health concern. Several factors contribute to the practice of early marriage, including environmental influences, family conditions, and adolescents’ personal perspectives. In the family context, parenting style is regarded as a significant factor influencing adolescents' comprehension and attitudes regarding social issues, such as early marriage. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between parenting styles and adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes toward early marriage among students at SMPN 2 Singosari, Malang. This study employed a cross-sectional design. Using simple random sampling, 72 ninth-graders were chosen from a population of 244 students to make up the sample. Structured questionnaires that evaluated parenting style, knowledge, and attitudes toward early marriage were used to gather data. The Chi-square test was used to analyze the data at a significance level of (p < 0.05). Adolescents' knowledge of early marriage was significantly correlated with parenting style (p < 0.001). Adolescents' opinions regarding early marriage were also significantly correlated with parenting style (p < 0.001). Parenting style is significantly related to both adolescents’ knowledge and their attitudes in responding to early marriage among students at SMPN 2 Singosari, Malang.

Abstract

Anemia in pregnancy remains a significant public health problem. The 2023 Indonesian Health Survey reported a prevalence of 27.7% among pregnant women compared to 48.9% in 2018. Mild anemia can interfere with maternal well-being and pregnancy outcomes if not properly treated. Complementary ethnomedicine therapy using natural plants rich in iron, such as red dragon fruit and moringa leaves, has the potential to increase hemoglobin (Hb) levels. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of complementary ethnomedicine therapy on hemoglobin levels in pregnant women with mild anemia. The research method was a case study conducted in February 2024 at the Midwife Independent Practice in Limapuluh Kota District. The subjects were primigravida women in their second trimester who were diagnosed with mild anemia based on clinical signs and laboratory tests. Primary data were collected through physical assessment and Hb measurement. The intervention consisted of complementary therapy using red dragon fruit and moringa leaves, administered daily for two weeks along with standard nutritional advice. Hb levels were measured before and after the intervention. Hb levels before the intervention were 10.2 g%, and Hb levels after the intervention were 11.3 g/dL. This represents an increase of 1.1 g%. In conclusion, treatment was provided according to the mother's needs. At the second visit, the mother did not have anemia. Complementary ethnomedical therapy using dragon fruit and moringa leaves can help prevent mild anemia in pregnant women.

Abstract

Preeclampsia is recognized as a significant cause of maternal mortality in Indonesia as well as globally. Approximately 40% of maternal deaths occur during the postpartum period. Preeclampsia during pregnancy can continue into the postpartum period. The onset of preeclampsia has an impact on maternal outcomes. Studies on postpartum preeclampsia have not been widely conducted. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between preeclampsia onset and the occurrence of postpartum preeclampsia. The study design is an observational analytical study using a case-control approach (retrospective). The population in this study consisted of all medical records of postpartum mothers who gave birth and were treated at Regional General Hospital, East Nusa Tenggara, the period from January to December 2023. The sample consisted of 42 case groups and 42 control groups selected using simple random sampling. The analysis used was the Chi-Square test. There was no significant association between the onset of preeclampsia and the occurrence of postpartum preeclampsia based on the Chi-square test (p = 0.178) with a significance level of p < 0.05. However, patients who experienced early-onset preeclampsia demonstrated a greater tendency toward postpartum preeclampsia. Preeclampsia during pregnancy increases the incidence of postpartum preeclampsia, with pathophysiology occurring in endothelial dysfunction, systemic inflammation, and failure of spiral artery remodeling. The impact of this process does not always stop after the placenta is delivered. Some clinical evidence shows that markers in the body can still cause postpartum clinical manifestations.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of failing to grow in children due to chronic malnutrition from the beginning of life, and remains a major global nutrition problem. Pregnant women and their families as a prevention effort from the prenatal period (1000 HPK starts from pregnancy). E-booklet media is used because it makes it easier for the target to understand the information conveyed than verbal delivery alone; with the e-booklet, the target can directly observe the images and the explanations that accompany them. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test in a single group. Pregnant women, sample selection technique: purposive sampling (selected based on inclusion criteria and readiness to participate in interventions). E-booklet themed 1000 First Days of Life that focuses on stunting prevention through pregnant women's nutrition, care behaviors, immunizations, and infant feeding practices. Based on the analysis, respondents were included in the 21-35 years age category. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test is used to compare the knowledge of pregnant women before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the intervention. Asymp value. The sig. (2-tailed) Knowledge is 0.009, and the 0.011 attitude is smaller than the p< value of 0.05. There was a significant increase in pregnant women's knowledge and attitudes after counseling using an e-booklet, with average rankings of 0.009 and 0.011, respectively.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a critical period that presents various physical and psychological challenges for women. One common issue encountered during pregnancy, particularly in the first and third trimesters, is sleep disturbance. Hormonal changes during pregnancy are one of the primary factors contributing to poor sleep quality. Inadequate sleep in pregnant women may also lead to elevated blood pressure (preeclampsia) in subsequent trimesters. One non- pharmacological intervention to address these issues is physical activity, such as prenatal yoga. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental research design using the One Group Pretest-Postest method. The sample size for this study was 37 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters. Purposive sampling was used. The instruments used were an observation sheet to measure blood pressure. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Results: Prior to the prenatal yoga intervention, the majority of participants experienced elevated blood pressure-19 respondents (51,4%) with high diastolic pressure. Following the prenatal yoga sessions, significant improvements were observed in both blood pressure, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclution : Prenatal yoga has a significant effect on reducing blood pressure in pregnant women at the Grogol Public Health Center
