Abstract

Qur’anic Studies had been developed according to the changing times. Scholars have offered many different methods to reveal God’s messages in the Qur’an. Different methods and approaches were used by a number ofleading scholars. ‘Ābid al-Jābirī is among those leading scholars who focus on this study. In his works of Madkhal ilā al-Qur’ān and Fahm al-Qur’ān, al-Jābirī cultivates historically the Qur’anic discourse and interpretation and suggests a new method of understanding the Qur’an. Using a philosophical-historical approach, this paper examines the fundamental ideas of al-Jābirī in the Qur’anic discourse and in interpretation methodology. Keywords: Objektifikasi, Rasionalisasi, Tafsir al-Qur’an

Abstract

During this time Trinitias is widely misunderstood by Muslims as a form of polytheism. The Trinity is assumed to be three distinct entities: God the Father, Lord the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This paper seeks to examine the dogma of the Holy Spirit as one element of the Trinity. This paper concludes that in Catholic, the Holy Spirit is the unity of the Father and the Son in the form of Love that is near in the created universe. The Holy Spirit is also God and is equal to the fi rst and second person of God, and therefore His presence as commanded by God does not mean that He is inferior to the other two. The presence of the Holy Spirit in this world means the salvation, liberation, and existence of the Christian community (ie followers of Jesus) who came to be known as the Church. Abstract

Conflicts in the Islamic world are primarily caused by disagreements between scholars’ views and thoughts. This divergence of opinion stems from scholars’ interpretations of the Qur’an and Hadith, which serve as a guide to life and religion for Muslims. This condition has existed since the Prophet Muhammad’s demise, specifically during the time of the Companions. Until then, it occurred on a continuous basis until now. This divergence in thought and perception eventually results in different forms of religious polarization, with the ulama separated or divided into various classes. The Muslims were then separated and divided into sects as a result of this situation. As mentioned by Ibn al-Jawzī, the disputes that erupted in the Islamic world and eventually resulted in religious polarization arose as a result of divergent interpretations of religious scriptures, which were bolstered by a sense of community or group fanaticism. Additionally, unscrupulous scholars’ variations caused the ulama to break into two classes or attitudes. Among them are the ulama who really care for Islam. The second category is different scholars, or scholars who are more concerned with their own expertise and with the interests and benefits of their own community than with the interests and benefits of the general public. Keywords: Conflict, Polarization in Islam, Ibn al-Jawzī

Abstract

Islamic educational institutions, in general, play a significant role in the world of education. Through a learning process, these institutions should be able to bring students towards national education goals and become a mirror for other educational institutions. This article attempts to examine Islamic educational intuitions, both formal and informal, in Indonesia focusing on their models. The discussion centers on two largest models of Islamic educations institutions in Indonesia, which pesantren (non-formal) and madrasah (formal). It is true that diversification of Islamic educational institutions supported with clear objectives and focused on professionaldifferentiation is a good, effective, and efficient way of education. Nevertheless, this article argues that such diversification will only lead to duplications, uselessness and ineffectiveness if the term means only pseudodiversification with outer and artificial purposes. Keywords: Lembaga Pendidikan Islam, Pesantren, Madrasah

Abstract

The community of the District of Gudo in Jombang Regency applies the limits of interaction in relations between religions, especially in terms of worship. This happened because there were still some people who invited other religious people to attend their worship services and the target of their teachings was children from outside their religion. Therefore, the community is worried that the young children will be indoctrinated by the teachings of other religions. This study uses a qualitative approach that aims to determine the attitude of tolerance of religious people in the grassroots region. With this qualitative approach, this research is more directed at direct observation. From each religion in Gudo has an opinion about tolerance: 1) Confucianism believes tolerance is a respect between one religion and another. 2) Christianity believes tolerance is a feeling of love and mutual trust between religious people. 3) Islam believes that tolerance is a freedom of life that has limitations, namely their own religion. Keywords: Tolerance, diversity, harmony

Abstract

the Qur’anic studies in Indonesia continue to experiencing a significant growth. Lukman Abdul Qohar Sumabrata, Lukman Saksono, and Anharudin offered a symbolic method of interpretation. They seek to interpret the Qur’an with different perspectives by looking at its format and structure, leading to different interpretations of the Qur’an. Lukman Abdul Qahar Sumabrata’s interpretation method attracted attentions from many people and encouraged them to study more closely the format and structure of the Qur’an. The interpretation of symbolic phenomenology refers to the format and structure of the Qur’an of the ‘Uthmāni script. Keywords: al-Qur’an, Fenomenologi Simbolik, Tafsir
