Abstract

TITLEEffectiveness of purple sweet potatoes (Ipomea batatas) and red dragon fruit (Hylocereus polyrhizus) as plaque identification agent (disclosing solution)ABSTRACTThe content of the dye in purple sweet potato anthocyanins and carotenoids content of dyes in the red dragon fruit, has the potential a source of natural dyes. Plaque is usually formed on a third surface of the gingival and the tooth surface is rough, form biofilm, known as plaque. Plaque can absorb dyes that can indicate the presence of biofilm. The research objective was to determine differences in the ability of the solution to the purple sweet potato red fleshed dragon fruit as materials identification plaque  (disclosing solution).The method used is Experimental Research. Design used is Posttest Only Design. Samples were taken 30 people and divided into 2 groups. Group 1st amounted to 15 people given treatment solution dripping purple sweet potato, and the second group totaled 15 people given treatment solution dripping red dragon fruit. Analysis of the data used in this study is Test Independent Test.The results showed the averages value of the plaque index in a solution of purple sweet potato 2.221 and the average value of the plaque index in the red dragon fruit 2.875. Result of Independent T-test has Sig 0.13 means that there are differences in the ability to use the solution with a purple sweet potato red fleshed dragon fruit as materials identification plaque (p 0.05). As a material it is necessary to identify plaque dyes that can be embedded in dental plaque, antosianin amount of content that has the in herentability of the dye solution and based on research results more red dragon fruit can identify plaque compared with a solution of purple sweet potato. Keywords: Sweet potato purple, red dragon fruit, Plaque Index

Abstract

TITLEThe effect of iodized salt solution concentration against Streptococcus mutans growthABSTRACTIodium Salt solution is the combination of Na and Cl in water. The iodium salt could kill gram postitive and negative bacteria. Streptococcus mutans is one of bacteria that cause caries. The aim of this study wanted to know the effect of iodium salt solution in 20% and 80% concentration toward inhibitory ability of Streptococcus mutans.The type of this study was quasy experiment without control group. This study was the intervention of salt consentration toward inhibitory ability of bacteria.  The data were analyzed with quantitative descriptitive analyze.The result showed that the inhibitory effect of 20% salt solution was 5.3mm and 7.0mm for 80% salt solution. The cathegory inhibitory ability was moderate for 20% concentration and high for 80% concentration. The conclusion was that the 80% concentration of salt solution were more powerful in inhibitting Streptococcus mutans than 20%. Keywords : iodium salt solution, inhibitory ability, Streptococcus mutans

Abstract

TITLETHE PARENTS-DESIGNED PROGRAM TO SUPPORT TOOTH BRUSHING DURING 7, 21, 35 DAYS OF YOUNG CHILDREN IN PAUD PANDEGA SIWI, TLOGOSARI, PEDURUNGAN, SEMARANG CITYABSTRACTDental and oral health services are provided by looking at the needs of the target. For pre-school age (playgroup, kindergarten A, and kindergarten B) service more priority prevention and familiarize healthy life behavior. The maintenance of dental hygiene and gum especially brushing morning and night before going to bed as prevention of dental and oral disease is considered important at this age is to get good dental health quality in the future. The purpose of study is a change in the behavior of students PAUD Pandega Siwi in terms of ability to brush your teeth properly and correctly.Implementation of study is done in July - August 2017 with the target devotion is Childhood PAUD counted 41 and her parents. The pretest is the examination of tooth brushing behavior and the level of dental hygiene of children of early childhood. Intervention stage in the form of counseling on how to brush their teeth with the help of multimedia tools and demonstration using phantom on the students of PAUD and parents. Monitoring I (7th day), II (21st day) and 3rd (35th day) are Teacher's guidance to parents in the implementation of home toothbrushes at PAUD students. Posttest evaluation is done the same as in the initial examination.The results of the activity is a change in the level of dental hygiene of children PAUD Pandega Siwi and brushing behavior teeth. Brushing behavior changes in terms of previous toothbrushing technique back and forth to turn around. The conclusion is the parent's assistance in the home is very instrumental in improving the level of dental hygiene and brushing behavior. Key words : Toothbrushing assintance, PAUD Pandega Siwi

TITLETHE IMPLEMENTATION OF ORAL AND DENTAL CARE SERVICES PROGRAM TOWARD DENTAL HEALTH STATUS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 134 / IV JAMBI CITYABSTRACTOral and dental care services program is one effort to overcome the problem of oral health. Health Polytechnic Kemenkes Jambi Dental Health Department as an institution of higher education, carrying out the mission of Tridarma Perguruan Tinggi is teaching, research, and dedication to society. As one form of community service that is by implementing an integrated program in the form of dental and oral care programs at elementary school students 134 / IV Jambi City. The purpose of this study was to determine the status of oral and dental health in elementary school students who get and do not get care services of dental and oral care.This research is a quantitative research with cross-sectional study approach, and data collecting from primary data obtained from dental and mouth examination by using a diagnostic set instrument with dental examination format. Samples of research were 30 children of SDN 134 / IV of Jambi who had received dental and oral care services and 30 children of SD 206 / IV of Jambi who was not receiving dental and oral care services with stratified random sampling technique.Results of the average DMF-T SD index that did not get dental care services of teeth is 2. While the average index of DMF-T who get services of nursing care of teeth that is 1. Average OHI-S SD index who do not get service dental nursing care is 1.6. While the average index of OHI-S who get services of nursing care of teeth that is 1.2. The result of a statistical test is the difference of DMF-T and OHI-S index in elementary school students who get with those who do not get dental and mouth nursing care (p 0,05). It is advisable to increase efforts to promote and preventive in primary schools that do not get dental and oral care services. Keywords : Oral and Dental care service

Abstract

TITLEFACTORS AFFECTING THE LOW UTILIZATION OF DENTAL POLYCLINIC IN KARANGANYAR II  COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER ON DEMAKABSTRACT One of the efforts to maintain the teeth is by maintaining dental health, routine control of dental or dental checkup through healthcare facilities. High caries prevalence rates are not matched by utilization of existing dental facilities. The average daily visit of dental polyclinic is 75 people, it is considered less than 4% of the population in Health center of Karanganyar II, which is 146 people. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that influence the low utilization of dental poly of the Karanganyar II Health Center in Demak Regency.Analytic research type using the cross-sectional method. Respondents were patients who came to Dental Poly Karanganyar II Demak in 2017 of 96 patients taken by accidental sampling technique. Data collection tool is a questionnaire, while analysis of the data itself is done by univariate and bivariate, to answer the hypothesis used Chi-Square test.There is an influence of knowledge level with the utilization of dental poly in Health center of Karanganyar II Demak (p-value = 0,000). There is an influence of respondent attitude with the utilization of dental poly in Health center of Karanganyar II Demak (p-value = 0,000). There is no effect of infrastructure on the utilization of dental poly in Health center of Karanganyar II Demak (p-value = 0,107). There is an influence of health officer attitude with a utilization of dental poly in Health center of Karanganyar II Demak (p-value = 0,000). There is an influence of knowledge level, respondent attitude, means of infrastructure, and attitude of health officer to low utilization of dental poly in Health center of Karanganyar II Demak. Keywords : Utilization, Dental Poly, Health center

Abstract

TITLETHE INFLUENCE OF SMOKE LIQUID OF COCONUT SHELL ON PLAQUE INDEXABSTRACTCoconut shell contains high antioxidant an anti bacterial agent which could influence oral bacterial growth in dental plaque. The extract – known as liquid smoke – is the vinegar of biomass pyrolysis process. This study wanted to know the influence of mouth rinsing using liquid smoke of coconut shell toward dental plaque’s existence.This study was used the quasi-experiment method. The design of this study was a pre-post the  experiment. The samples were randomized on JKG’s students which were 24 students. The data were analyzed Anova Test.The result showed that there wasa significant influence before and after mouth rinsing with liquid smoke (p-value 0.017; 0.001; 0.000 0.005) in each group. The increase of the concentration of liquid smoke had a significant influence on the decrease of plaque index (p-value 0.015 0.005). It’s suggested that this research had to be continued to find out the influence of the concentrations of smoke liquid on oral bacteria.

Abstract

TITLEEFFECTIVENESS CONSUMING PINEAPPLE (ANANAS COMOSUS) AND STAR FRUIT (AVERRHOA CARAMBOLA L) TOWARD PLAQUE SCOREABSTRACTPineapple and Star fruit are one of the fruits that has water content and fiber that many. Pineapple sources of vitamin C and manganese, this fruit also contains substances that can maintain bone strength and help digestion. Fresh fruit contains 10% sugar, half is the remaining sucrose glucose and fructose. Pineapple fruit rich in fiber can reliably increase saliva production (saliva), clean teeth and mouth and strengthen the gums. While starfruit contains epitekin compounds that are bactericidal. Research purposes this is to know the effectiveness of pineapple and star fruit consumption toward  plaque score.This research is an experimental research with the design of  Pre and Post Test Group Design. The sample of this research is MI Darut Taqwa Meteseh, Tembang, Semarang as many as 60 students divided by 4 intervention groups. Interventions taken are consuming star fruit juice, pineapple juice, chewing starfruit and pineapple. Dental plaque scores were measured using the index  PHP. Data analysis using a t-test.The research result from score plaque drink juice star fruit and chew starfruit with p = 0,001 so there is the difference of plaque score between drinking star fruit juice by chewing star fruit. Score plaque group who drank pineapple juice and chewed pineapple with p = 0.017 so there was a difference in plaque score between drinking pineapple juice by chewing pineapple. Consume fruit by chewing more down the plaque score compared to drinking fruit juice. Abstract

TITLETHE CAUSAL FACTORS OF PERIAPICAL AND PULP DISEASE AMONG SENIOR COMMUNITY OF KAGOK COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER SEMARANGABSTRACTThe high rate of pulp disease and periapical tissue suffered most of the age group of 45-60 years as much as 34% in the elderly group. This study aims to determine the factors causing pulpal disease and periapical tissue in the elderly group at puskesmas Kagok.The sample in this study were 83 elderly people in Wonotingal subdistrict who had a history of cavities. The data were collected by index plaque, salivary hydration, Saliva pH, salivary viscosity and using a questionnaire to know behavior factor, environmental factor, health service factor and heredity factor.The results showed the highest index plaque with bad criterion equal to 57,8%, highest salivary hydration with low criterion equal to 49,3%, highest salivary pH with acid criteria equal to 66,2%, highest salivary viscosity with bad criterion equal to 73,4%. Factors are elderly behavior with medium criterion equal to 66,2%, medium criterion criteria are 63,8%, health service factor with medium criterion equal to 57,8% and descent factor with medium criterion 78,3%. The results of statistical tests show that the relationship between influence and variable variables affected by confusion interval with a value of R 0.303 which indicates the level of low relationship.

Abstract

TITLETHE EFFECT OF DRINKING YOGURT ON THE pH SALIVA OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTSABSTRACT Saliva is one of the factors that influence the process of caries because saliva always wet the teeth so that affect the environment in the oral cavity. Saliva works not only to help in chewing food but also serves as a protector. Children often consume foods and beverages containing carbohydrates, so the caries-causing bacteria in the oral cavity will produce acids that cause demineralization. Among feeding periods, saliva will work to neutralize acids and help the process of remineralization. Consuming yogurt can be an effort to prevent caries in children. Yogurt contains calcium, which, if maintained longer in saliva, is expected to help with remineralization. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of drinking yogurt on saliva pH. This research is a true experiment with the design of Pre and Post Test With Control Group Design. The population is all students of class I to class V Elementary School of Argomulyo, Sedayu, Bantul. The sample in this study amounted to 100 students by using random sampling technique. The data analysis used is the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before drinking yogurt pH saliva 6,80, after drinking yogurt pH saliva 7.44 with difference 0,64. TITLETHE EFFECTIVENESS OF AUDIO MEDIA AND BRAILLE LEAFLET MEDIA ON THE KNOWLEDGE OF MAINTAINING ORAL HYGIENE AMONG BLIND CHILDRENABSTRACTDental health education is a learning process that is targeted at individuals and groups of people to achieve the degree of community dental health as high. The blind children in need of media to improve oral health knowledge. Blind children take advantage of the sense of touch and hearing as a substitute for the sense of sight in the learning process. The purpose of research is to see the level of knowledge of how the maintenance of oral hygiene in blind children with education using audio media and leaflet braille media. This study design using interventional analytic sample were 24 children with visual impairment in SLB N Semarang using audio media and media leaflet braille. Each group was given individual counseling media, namely audio media and media leaflet braille. Before the students were given about counseling, pretest then given counseling. After being given counseling students were given the posttest.The data have been analyzed using statistical test o Wilcoxon Test and Mann Whitney Test.Statistical test with Wilcoxon Test showed a significant difference with p-value of 0.003 between before and after counseling with audio media. There is a significant difference p-value of 0.002 before and after counseling with counseling leaflet braille media. The study shows the differences in the level of knowledge with a p-value of 0.001 between groups of media education with audio and leaflet braille media. According to the results Mann Whitney Test can be concluded the levels of knowledge of how the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene in children with visual impairment in which audio media outreach is increased knowledge than leaflet braille media education.Key words : promotion, audio media,leaflet braille media
