Abstract

Critical land area in East Nusa Tenggara (ENT) comprises of relatively large area, which is 1,512,934.77 ha (83.64%) of the total 1,808,900 ha of the forest area in ENT Province; the category of critical comprises of potential to be critical to critical. The targets of the critical land are lands with function related to rehabilitation and reforestation activities, which include protected forests, protected areas outside the forest areas, and cultivated areas for agricultural purposes. To prevent forest and land destruction and to renew the function of the critical lands, actual efforts on forest and land rehabilitation are needed. According to the Ministry of Forestry Decree Number 20/Kpts-II/2001, the aim of critical land and forest rehabilitation is choosing degraded land and forest resources to be function optimally so that they can provide benefits for the people, guarantee the balance of environment and watershed systems and support the sustainability of forest development. In creating of sustainable forest management, there is a need of a model of forest management as a part of forest and degraded land rehabilitation; one of the efforts is through development of community forests.   Community forests are state forests with main benefits are put on community empowerment, especially for community who live in and around forest areas. The community empowerment could be seen as efforts in improving community abilities and independencies so that they can be benefited from the forest resources optimally and fairly through capacity development and accessibility for the prosperity of the community.Keywords: reforestation, critical lands, community forests.

Abstract

This research was attributed to know farming capital characteristic tangerine Soe, credit picture in Soe tangerine farming, ijon system description and its impact to tangerine farmer income Soe, supporting internal factor picture tangerine farming success, supporting external factor picture tangerine farming success, families propertied farming distribution and investment feasibility zoom Soe tangerine farming. Result observation to point out that capital that is utilized in Soe tangerine farming ranging from Rp 1.000.000 – Rp 15.000.000. Capital source in capital indigenous farming personal farmer. Soe tangerine farmer never get farming credit of institute whichever but BPLM'S farming help that acquired of on duty agricultural for the price 32.000.000 about farming group. That relief fund is destined for tangerine production behalf Soe. Analysis result points out just vicinity 10% farmer that stills to utilize ijon system divides farming behalf. Meanwhile its rest around 90% does merchant transactions upon harvests raya. Farmer ability in bring off Soe tangerine farming regarded by age, education and experience gets farming. Local transportation medium that is utilized in distribute input and output is Soe tangerine farming was reasonable. Transportation that is utilized in distributes Soe tangerine largely dominated by Villages transportation. Farming contribution to farmer income reaches 70%. In height, that contribution percentage is reverential because a large part farmer just hangs expectation on Soe tangerine farming. Soe Tangerine farming reasonable financial ala to be sighted of NPV'S criterion and B/C Ratio. NPV'S point to tall production capacity is Rp 6.328.624, production capacity is Rp 4.943.328 and production capacity contemns Rp 3.276.715. Abstract

Broiler agribusiness is currently leading to consolidation of farmers and broiler industries with a contract farming partnership. The broiler industry that implements cooperation between plasma/farmers and the nucleus/large integrators has yet improve the welfare of small-scalefarmers. In fact, farmers are more accepting risks than getting profits and so that it is not accordance with the principles of partnership and empowerment. Basically, farmers need the commitment of stakeholders to support their empowerment. The method to encourage strengthening ofstakeholder’scommitments starting from: (a) The Government or stakeholders initiating meetings between farmers and local integrator to discuss evaluating the implementation of contract farmingpartnership; (b) The government monitors the local integrators to make a fair cooperation contract or memorandum of understanding; (c) Periodic monitoring of contract farming partnership agreements, such as procurement of inputs, management and outputs; (d) Implementing integrated assistance where stakeholders are involved.

Abstract

Actinomycetes merupakan kelompok bakteri berfilamen yang bersifat Gram-positif dan paling banyak terdapat di dalam tanah. Bakteri ini menghasilkan berbagai senyawa metabolit sekunder yang secara ekonomis sangat penting seperti antibiotik dan eksoenzim hidrolitik. Isolat Actinomycetes Laut telah berhasil diisolasi dari sedimen tanah hutan Mangrove di daerah pantai Oesapa, Kupang, Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode isolasi dilakukan melalui pengenceran bertingkat sampel sedimen yang kemudian diinokulasi secara spread plate pada media Sabouraud Agar (SDA). Koloni yang tumbuh kemudian dipurifikasi secara streak plate dan dilanjutkan dengan uji aktivitas eksoenzim hidrolitik: Amilase, Selulase, Protease dan Lipase. Hasil uji memperoleh 6 isolat Actinomycetes yang memiliki aktivitas katalik untuk minimal empat enzim tersebut. Enzim-enzim ini dapat diarahkan pemanfaatannya dalam bidang teknologi pakan ternak khususnya sebagai imbuhan pakan yang umumnya diformulasi dalam pakan ternak untuk meningkatkan kecernaannya dalam tubuh hewan ternak. Hasil penelitian ini juga dapat semakin mengoptimalkan pemanfaatan sumber daya alam lokal khususnya dalam mendukung bidang peternakan pada skala regional. Kata Kunci: Actinomycetes Laut, Sedimen, Pantai Mangrove, Eksoenzim Hidrolitik

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know levels of farmers income contributed by goat management and cacao crop production; and also factors effecting farmers income from goat management and cacao crop production. Survey method was applied in this research. The data were processed and analysed statistically and economically. The results indicate that  1) total income of a respondent in East Manggarai District through goat management and cacao crop in 2008 was Rp.3,915,796.- in which Rp. 992,753.- (25.35 %) contributed by the first and Rp. 2,923,043.- (74.65 %) by the latter; 2) factors effecting farmers income from goat management were number of livestock sold, and number of livestock slaughtered (R2 = 0,885); 3) factors effecting farmers income from cacao crop production were area of cacao crop production, and number of production of cacao crop (R2 = 0,953).Keywords: Income, Goat, Cacao

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of different storage conditions and duration to the growth and development of microorganisms and pathogens up to a certain interval time. Therefore, the research will look at how the growth of bacteria in Se’i pork will be seen through the Total Total Count (TPC) in the condition of room temperature and refrigerator up to 5 days of storage time intervals. By treating the room temperature and temperature of the refrigerator with a storage time of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 days, the microorganism numbers will be obtained in these two different storage conditions for 5 days.  The results showed clear result of the growth rate and the number of bacteria between Se’I stored at therefrigerator temperature storage with Se’I at room temperature every day.  It is clear from the results that the growth of microorganisms greater in Se'i at room temperature compared to those refrigerated. Other results found that samples from one shop have already shown TPC number above the maximum standard for the total number of microorganisms allowed by Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) in smoked meat.

Abstract

Burning Connection With Pasturing Field And Agriculture Activity At East Nusa Tenggara. Land use for agriculture in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) is still using traditional pattern which was characterized by the very simple application of technology. To open new land, farmers are practising slash and burn system before sowing.Burning concept, involving the use of fire burning, is one concept among other concepts namely cultivation pattern, animal husbandry and others. These concepts are part of agriculture system for community in NTT. Community, with their own reasons and experiences besides physical and geographical environment, are using fire as an important component for their living agriculture.Controlled burning in the appropriate season is an effective way to improve pasture land. For example, burning at the end of the dry season can eradicate the old, dry and low nutritional value plants allowing young grass to grow at the beginning of the rainy season.From the socio-economic point of view, burning or fire technology is a relatively simple technology used by unskilled poor farmers. An arising issue is how to inform the farmers with burning technology to use fire in an efficient and effective way.Keywords: dry land, farming activity, burning

Abstract

In the era of regional autonomy, local governments are obliged to plan and control regional economic conditions based on objective conditions. The agricultural sector is a sector that plays an important role in national development. Development planners must maintain superior commodities in the agricultural sector, so that the regional economy can be developed. In addition, the importance of implementing appropriate regional development planning so that it will become a guideline and be able to direct development towards the achievement of objectives made on the basis of commodity bases and the potential base of leading regional agricultural sector. The implementation of regional economic development based on leading commodities in the agricultural sector will be easier to carry out by referring to the results of a study of the potential superior regions. Local governments must also pay attention to non-superior commodities so that they become a sub-system in developing leading agricultural commodities. This study uses the Location Quotient analysis, to find out which commodities are superior in the agricultural sector. The results showed that the leading commodities in the game sector were (1). Food crops consist of (Peanuts, Lading rice and Lowland rice), (2). Vegetable plants consist of (shallots, large chili, tomatoes, cucumbers and cayenne peppers), (3). Abstract

Masterplan of Community Forest Development in Indonesia. Community forest is a forest area which owned by people with a minimum of 0.25 ha with a canopy of woody plants and/or other plant species more than 50 % and/or in the first year with plants of at least 500 plants per hectare.The main purpose of development community forests are to increase the productivity of marginal lands, helping the diversify of agricultural products who needed by society, prepare of timber and building materials industries as well as fire wood, increasing farmers’s in come in rural communities and enhancing their welfare, also improve the water system and the environment specially on land belongs to the people who are in the up stream waters hield protection areas. Forest development program hopefully not only produce of woods but also produce the other commodities and services, such as foods, fodders, medicines,etc. which considered a balance of ecology, social and economy. The development of community forests can also support and provide solutions in forestry problems with the way recovery the forests which transformed into shrubs and weeds, also change people's behavior by providing jobs for the community. Abstract

Sindrom Mastitis, Metritis, Agalactia (MMA) telah ditemukan seluruh dunia, dan umumnya terjadi pada induk babi setelah partus. Sindrom MMA merupakan gangguan patologis yang terdiri dari peradangan ambing (Mastitis),  peradangan uterus (Metritis) yang dapat berdampak pada pengurangan sekresi air susu (Agalactia). Secara umum etiologi berkaitan dengan kondisi ini belum diidentifikasi secara baik namun diduga bersifat multifaktorial, yang didominasi oleh kesalahan manajemen pemeliharaan dan adanya infeksi bakteri. Efek dari gangguan ini baru akan teramati dalam waktu 12 sampai 48 jam setelah partus dan ditandai dengan menurunnya nafsu makan, anak babi yang lapar, induk babi mengalami demam serta kondisi ambing yang keras. Penanganan secara simptomtis terhadap kasus ini perlu dilakukan secepatnya, namun tidak saja difokuskan pada induk babi tetapi juga untuk mengatasi dehidrasi pada litter yang dapat berdampak pada kematian. Tindakan pencegahan dengan memperbaiki manajeman pemeliharaan merupakan langkah penting yang dapat berdampak pada munurunnya kasus sindrom MMA dalam sebuah peternakan.Kata Kunci : Mastitis, Metritis, Agalactia, Induk Babi
