Abstract

This study aims to reveal a new understanding of Mandalika folklore through Derrida's deconstruction. The goal is to demonstrate that Derrida's approach uncovers objective meanings and offers a theoretical alternative to traditional interpretations. By contextualizing new meanings through deconstruction, the study provides varied insights without relying solely on the author's intended meaning. The research employs Derrida's deconstruction through textual and in-depth analysis, exploring the concept of difference to identify binary contexts in the narrative structure. It includes case studies, comparisons of folkloric versions, interdisciplinary approaches for a comprehensive view, and critical analysis. The process begins with a synopsis representing the entire Mandalika folklore text. Findings indicate that Mandalika folklore’s meanings extend beyond conventional understandings, emerging from dynamic interactions between textual and non-textual elements. These new meanings challenge previous interpretations shaped by authorial authority. The study highlights how Mandalika folklore reflects the patriarchal Sasak society, revealing tragic choices born from social disharmony. It emphasizes the need for the Sasak community to use the Mandalika narrative for reflection and reevaluation of gender relations. The folklore advocates for gender equality, depicting Mandalika as both a hero and a victim of patriarchal norms. This new understanding calls for a reassessment of gender roles and societal expectations.

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the use of technology in curriculum development and instructional design for Social Studies (IPS) as well as Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) in elementary schools. The method used is a literature review with a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The SLR process involves a literature search from academic databases, followed by a review of abstracts and full texts. Content analysis was employed to identify and categorize findings, while triangulation techniques were used to validate the results by comparing various sources. The study's findings indicate that technology has been integrated into the curriculum development and instructional design of IPS and IPAS in various forms, including digital platforms, interactive multimedia, online resources, and collaborative tools. This use of technology has proven effective in increasing student engagement, expanding access to learning resources, enhancing students' understanding of complex concepts, and enabling more personalized learning experiences. However, challenges in implementing technology in elementary schools remain, including infrastructure limitations, the digital divide among students, the lack of teacher skills and knowledge, as well as time and curriculum constraints. To address these challenges, the study recommends several solutions, such as intensive teacher training, improved infrastructure and technology access, and sustained support from the government and community. Continuous training can enhance teachers' skills in utilizing technology, ultimately strengthening the quality of the IPS curriculum. The study emphasizes the importance of responsive, evidence-based strategies to support the integration of technology in elementary schools.

Abstract

Community participation is essential in developing tourism villages because the potential of social and cultural diversity resources in the community is the primary driving force behind the activities in the tourism village. This research aims to analyze the stages and obstacles of community participation in the development of Warloka Pesisir Tourism Village. This research uses qualitative research with descriptive research type. Data were gathered using observation, interviews, focus group discussion impacts (FGDs), and documentation. The concept used to analyze the data is the concept of participation from Cohen and Uphoff. The results showed that based on the four types of participation, the Warloka Pesisir community has not yet reached an optimal level of participation in developing a tourism village. Participation in decision-making and benefit-taking shows that the community is passive in decision-making and tends only to follow the final decision. This has an impact on the community's lack of maximum benefits from the development of tourist villages. Some existing obstacles hinder participation and tourism development, so more attention must be paid to supporting community participation by updating infrastructure and developing skills with empowerment.

Abstract

The year 2024 is considered a significant moment in Indonesia's democratic process, marked by the Presidential Election on February 14, 2024. One of the key factors in garnering support is social capital. The participation of young people has become a focal point in this phenomenon, highlighted by the presence of young political volunteers known as Orang Muda Ganjar (OMG). The purpose of this research is to explain the participation of OMG volunteers in Central Java in the 2024 Presidential Election through the lens of social capital. The research method used in this study is a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. This study fills the gap in previous research, which has predominantly focused on the role of formal political parties while paying less attention to the contributions of volunteer groups as non-formal actors in politics. Based on the data, the findings show that friendships in academic environments are one of the reasons volunteers join and employ soft campaign strategies to reach out to young people by leveraging social capital. The most significant form of social capital contributing to garnering support is social networking, which utilizes existing relationships within student organizations. These social networks act as social capital in mobilizing support, which includes facilitating communication and coordination, building trust and solidarity, expanding outreach, and optimizing available resources. The researcher recommends further studies to explore the dynamics of social capital in various political contexts outside Central Java with different characteristics, as this could serve as a foundation for subsequent comparative studies.

Abstract

Establishing a cultural community becomes a valuable asset capable of supporting the dissemination of cultural values. The community in Kampung Adat Cireundeu Village, Cimahi City has long upheld traditional values. This research aims to explain how the Cireundeu community can preserve and maintain its culture despite the absence of an official adat leader. Using a qualitative method with a case study approach, data collection techniques were derived from interviews, observations, and documentation studies. This research found that the Cireundeu community successfully overcame this challenge through collective leadership mechanisms and the use of modern technology. Community figures, including elders and the deputy adat leader, play a crucial role in preserving customs and traditions through the effective distribution of responsibilities and active involvement in various customary activities. Despite facing some obstacles, such as uncertainty in decision-making and suboptimal coordination, the Cireundeu community has adopted adaptive strategies that allow them to maintain cultural preservation and ensure their social continuity. This research demonstrates that even without an Indigenous leader, community strength, local figures, and local innovation can support cultural preservation in sustaining the Indigenous community.
