Abstract

Maritime safety is a crucial aspect of sea transportation that requires effective coordination and communication between vessels and coastal authorities. One of the key instruments in ensuring maritime safety is the routine reporting of vessels to Coastal Radio Stations (CRS). This study aims to analyze the level of vessel compliance in reporting to the CRS and its implications for maritime safety. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews with CRS officers and ship crew members, and documentation of vessel reporting records. The findings indicate that the level of reporting compliance varies and is influenced by factors such as regulatory awareness, the technical condition of communication equipment, and the safety awareness of ship crews. Insufficient reporting may hinder monitoring processes and delay rapid response to maritime incidents. This study recommends enhanced dissemination of relevant regulations, stricter supervision, and improvements in communication infrastructure as measures to increase reporting compliance and ultimately improve maritime safety.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly changed consumer behavior, particularly in purchase decision-making among Generation Z. As a generation that grows and interacts within a digital environment, Generation Z shows high intensity in using digital platforms and e-commerce. This condition requires adequate digital competence and financial literacy to support rational consumption behavior. At the same time, psychological and social factors such as fear of missing out (FOMO) and peer pressure also influence purchasing tendencies, often leading to impulsive buying behavior. This study aims to analyze the effects of digital competence, fear of missing out (FOMO), and peer pressure on purchase decisions, both directly and indirectly through financial literacy as a mediating variable. A quantitative research approach was employed using a survey method. Data were collected from Generation Z respondents who had experience with online shopping. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine direct and indirect relationships among the variables. The results indicate that digital competence has a positive and significant effect on financial literacy and purchase decisions. Meanwhile, FOMO and peer pressure do not have a significant direct effect on purchase decisions; however, both variables significantly influence financial literacy. Furthermore, financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on purchase decisions. Mediation analysis confirms that financial literacy plays an important role in mediating the effects of digital competence, FOMO, and peer pressure on purchase decisions. These findings highlight the strategic role of financial literacy in controlling the influence of digital, psychological, and social factors on consumer behavior. Therefore, strengthening financial literacy and digital competence is essential to encourage rational and responsible purchasing decisions among Generation Z in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of local wisdom of Tenganan Pagringsingan Village in the preservation of village forests and water sources. This research is a qualitative descriptive study by conducting observations and interviews with several village community leaders, village heads, traditional heads, and the community. The results of the study show that the people of Tenganan Pagringsingan Village strongly uphold and uphold the existing local wisdom, especially in the form of rituals, myths, and rules. This local wisdom plays a role in maintaining the sustainability of village forests and water sources. These rituals are in the form of Tumpek Wariga and Metruna Nyoman. The Tumpek Wariga ritual is a symbol as a form of gratitude to nature in the mystical sense for the gift of plant fertility so that the community can use it for survival. The Metruna Nyoman ritual, as a form of non-formal education, shapes the character of the younger generation to know their own village, existing rituals, and most importantly, love and protect the environment. The myth that has existed since ancient times is Lelipi Selahan Bukit, a form of belief in forest guardians, so that the community does not dare to do things that cause forest damage. The rules, in the form of customary village regulations, outline the rights and obligations of indigenous communities, along with the accompanying sanctions. These regulations will serve as a binding force for all forms of community behavior, ensuring they conform to the established guidelines.

Abstract

Learning motivation of elementary school students is influenced not only by individual factors, but also by social and economic conditions that shape children’s daily experiences. In the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, children’s involvement in the Budak Ngambek Timah tradition remains a culturally accepted practice and poses a serious challenge to educational continuity. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting elementary school students’ learning motivation within the context of child exploitation in the Budak Ngambek Timah tradition. The research employed a qualitative explanatory approach using a case study strategy conducted in Baskarabakti Village, Central Bangka Regency. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Informants were selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques, involving students, parents, teachers, and community members. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with data validity ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that students’ low learning motivation is influenced by three main factors: economic, social, and physical-health factors. Economic pressure encourages children’s involvement in tin mining activities, reducing their time and energy for learning. Social normalization of child labor positions schooling as a secondary priority, while physical fatigue and health problems resulting from mining activities negatively affect students’ concentration and learning readiness. These findings indicate that low learning motivation is a structural issue that requires collaborative efforts to protect children’s educational rights.

Abstract

Early marriage within the Madurese community, particularly in Bendungan Hamlet, is a social practice shaped by matchmaking traditions, religious beliefs, and deeply rooted cultural norms. This practice is often carried out at a young age and may lead to psychological, social, and marital challenges when prospective spouses lack sufficient preparation. This study aims to examine premarital education awareness among the Madurese community, the implementation of premarital education through the ngabula tradition from an Islamic perspective, and the transformation of premarital education models in contemporary society. The research adopts a qualitative narrative approach, employing observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. Ten informants were selected using a snowball sampling method, consisting of religious leaders, female ngabula participants, early-married couples, and community members. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis and interpreted using Paulo Freire’s theory of consciousness alongside Arnold van Gennep’s rites of passage framework. The findings indicate that premarital education awareness develops across three levels of consciousness: magical, naive, and critical. The ngabula tradition functions as a form of non-formal premarital education that contributes to the development of mental, social, moral, and religious readiness among prospective spouses, particularly women. Furthermore, the ngabula tradition has undergone transformations in terms of practice and meaning while continuing to preserve its religious and cultural values. These values play an important role in supporting the formation of sakinah, mawaddah, and warahmah families within the Madurese social context.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and examine in depth the forms of social transformation and their impacts on the management policies of Bank NTT. The research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. The theoretical frameworks applied in this study are structural functionalism and systems theory. The findings indicate that transformation at Bank NTT represents a process of systemic change centered on digitalization and human resources, which has broadly affected organizational structure, work patterns, and employee work culture. Digital transformation at Bank NTT has been driven by demands for increased operational efficiency, service expansion, and the need to adapt to societal behavior that is increasingly dependent on digital technology. Social transformation and management policies at Bank NTT have generated positive impacts, as reflected in improved work efficiency and effectiveness, enhanced quality of customer service, strengthened employee professionalism and accountability, as well as the modernization of work systems and organizational governance. Nevertheless, several negative impacts were also identified, including resistance to change among some employees, increased work pressure and adaptation burdens, gaps in technological competencies, and tensions in workplace relations during the transition period. Theoretically, these findings are relevant to structural functionalism and systems theory, as the success or failure of transformation depends on the support of subsystems and the effective functioning of existing structures within Bank NTT that sustain social transformation and its management policies.

Abstract

Globalization has drastically changed the social structure of society, particularly in the economic and cultural sectors. This phenomenon is marked by the expansion of global capitalism through the tourism industry, targeting regions rich in tradition. In Bali, tourism plays a dual role: as an economic engine and a meeting point between local values and international market demands. Consequently, challenges arise for indigenous communities to maintain the authenticity of traditions amidst the pressures of a competitive economy. As part of the Bali Aga community, the Tenganan Pagringsingan Traditional Village maintains a structured system of local wisdom passed down through generations. Its unique cultural identity is reflected in spatial planning, customary law (awig-awig), and even its heritage of gringsing textiles, which tend to be protected from outside intervention. Nevertheless, the pressures of globalization through the tourism sector force the community to adapt its culture. This process creates a dynamic between exploiting economic opportunities and efforts to maintain the authenticity of traditions to prevent them from being eroded by time. This research is to examine how the community of the Tenganan Pagringsingan Traditional Village adapts its local wisdom amidst the flow of global tourism capitalism. Furthermore, this study explores the significance of this adaptation for the preservation of local culture. Using a qualitative approach and desk study methods, the data were analyzed descriptively, referring to literature on globalization and the sociocultural dynamics of indigenous communities. This study reveals that the cultural adaptation process took place in a measured and selective manner. The community succeeded in maintaining the integrity of traditional values, social structures, and sacred rituals from the influence of commercialization, while integrating the economic aspects of tourism through the crafts and services sectors. This dynamic and compromising strategy demonstrates that globalization can be managed as an opportunity to strengthen the sustainability of local identity, rather than simply being viewed as a challenge.

Abstract

Education is an important and useful thing in improving the standard of human life; through education, participants can improve skills that lead to a changing learning process. Education in the 21st century requires a transformation of learning that fosters deeper engagement with knowledge and encourages adaptive problem-solving. One of the skills that needs to be developed in Social Studies learning is scientific thinking ability. The inquiry-based learning model is one of the student-centered learning models that sharpens thinking skills through exploration and problem-solving. Artificial intelligence is a technology that helps students in learning, so that students can easily obtain information. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted guided inquiry learning model on the scientific thinking skills of eighth-grade students at Junior High School 8 Gresik. This research uses a quantitative approach with a non-equivalent control group experimental design. Data was collected through pretests and posttests, as well as observation sheets, and then analyzed using statistical tests. The research results indicate that the application of the Artificial Intelligence-assisted guided inquiry learning model significantly impacts the improvement of students' scientific thinking abilities. This model is effective in promoting scientific inquiry, analysis, inference, and argumentation activities in social studies learning.

Abstract

This study examines the inter-ethnic conflict in Kudus in 1918, which led to the exodus of ethnic Chinese to Semarang. The research focuses on the factors causing the conflict, the dynamics of the riots, and the socio-economic implications of the migration. The research employs historical methods through heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Primary sources include contemporary newspapers such as De Preanger Bode, De Indier, De Locomotief, Dagblad van Zuid Holland en ’s Gravenhage, and Het Nieuws van den Dag voor Nederlandsch-Indie, supported by secondary sources from scholarly literature. The results indicate that the conflict was not caused by a single factor, but by the accumulation of socio-economic tensions, social segregation, and sensitivities over ethnic and religious identities. Competition in strategic economic sectors such as the kretek (cigarette) industry and trade intensified intergroup prejudice, which was then fueled by symbolic incidents in the public sphere. The riots that occurred on October 31, 1918, caused extensive damage, loss of life, and insecurity, prompting much of the Chinese community to leave Kudus. The exodus to Semarang is understood as a rational strategy to secure security and restore socio-economic life through stronger community networks. This movement also demonstrates that migration in conflict situations is a form of structured social adaptation. Thus, this study confirms that communal conflict not only results in physical violence but also drives demographic, social, and economic changes with long-term impacts.
