Abstract

Abstract

Traditional food not only serves to fulfill biological needs, but also contains cultural values that reflect the identity of an ethnic group, including the Betawi ethnic group. Amidst the currents of globalization and modernization, traditional culinary heritage is increasingly marginalized, even though it contains a philosophy of life, social values, and moral teachings that have the potential to be transformed into character education. This study aims to identify the types of traditional Betawi ethnic food in the Kemang area as the research location, including snacks, heavy meals, and drinks, and analyze philosophical values that can support character formation. This study uses a Qualitative approach with the Ethnography method by Spradley, the data analysis technique used is "12 Step-by-Step Forward Research Flow". This technique is able to explore the deep meaning of symbols, values, and cultural practices embedded in traditional Betawi ethnic food in a sequential and planned manner. By following stages such as determining informants to writing ethnography, the author not only understands the physical form of food. But, also the philosophical values and cultural meanings inherent in it. The research results show that the philosophical values inherent in traditional Betawi food and beverages have significant potential for inclusion in character education. Particularly in contextual learning based on local culture, traditional food and beverages can serve as a medium for instilling character values, such as mutual cooperation, responsibility, simplicity, and a love of culture.

Abstract

The condition of double burden among working women was not only experienced by married women but also by unmarried (single) daughters. This condition occurred when daughters bore the burden of supporting the family’s economy and carrying out domestic responsibilities at home. A cultural belief that domestic work is assigned to women because it has been socialized from an early age. This study aimed to examine the naturally experiences of double burden among single working daughters who lived with their parents and to identify the strategies they used to cope with this condition. A qualitative approach was employed, using the interactive data analysis technique proposed by Miles and Huberman. The results show that single daughters experience double burden mainly due to their family’s socio-economic conditions. Families with economic limitations tend to demand greater financial responsibility from daughters, so work orientation is emphasized not merely as an act of filial piety but also as an obligation imposed by parents. Family norms that justify domestic responsibilities as women’s natural duties also constitute a major factor contributing to the double burden experienced by daughters. To cope with this situation, daughters adopt two type of strategies. The first strategy aimed to cope domestic workloads, including sharing household tasks with other family members, also using domestic tools and paid services. The second strategy focused on cope the pressure resulting from the double burden, which included seeking recreation, finding a partner relationship, and obtaining social support.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam/PAI) to enhance vocational high school (SMK) students’ creativity and academic achievement in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Indonesia, and maps the enabling and constraining factors affecting its enactment. Employing a descriptive qualitative design, the study involved PAI teachers and students from three schools: SMK Taruna Bhakti Indonesia, SMK Al-Ikhlas, and SMK An-Nur Kuala Selat. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis, and were thematically analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that PjBL fosters students’ creativity and learning outcomes when teachers demonstrate strong commitment and pedagogical creativity in adapting projects to each school’s context. Support from school leaders and the local community strengthens a collaborative and religious learning climate. Key challenges include limited instructional time, inadequate facilities, and gaps in teachers’ competencies; however, these constraints can be mitigated by integrating projects into school programs and leveraging local resources. Overall, the study suggests that PjBL in PAI has the potential to improve creativity, academic achievement, and the development of students’ religious and social character.

Abstract

Student participation in campus-based entrepreneurship organizations is not only related to the development of business skills but also serves as an important space for students to reinterpret their roles an identities. Campus entrepreneurship organizations provide a social environment that brings together academic experiences, business practices, and collective interactions that shape students understanding of entrepreneurship. This study aims to analyze the process of entrepreneurial identity reconstruction among students through active participation in HIPMI PT UNNES. The research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with members and administrators of HIPMI PT UNNES, as well as non-participant observation of organizational activities represented through content on the HIPMI PT UNNES Instagram account. Research participants were selected using purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that HIPMI PT UNNES functions as a social transitional space that enables students to experience gradual changes in self-meaning. The identity reconstruction process is characterized by role ambiguity between academic and entrepreneurial identities, social uncertainty, and the negotiation of identity meanings through social interactions within the organization. Over time, some students begin to internalize entrepreneurial values such as independence, risk-taking, and action orientation. Drawing on Turner’s concept of liminality and Mead’s symbolic interactionism, this study finds that entrepreneurial identity reconstruction is a dynamic and non-linear social process. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of campus entrepreneurship organizations as strategic arenas for student identity formation, not only as spaces for business learning but also as social environments for entrepreneurial identity development.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the practice of road blockades in Bima Regency as a manifestation of grassroots social movements responding to social injustice, particularly those related to deteriorating road infrastructure, weak security protection, and limited formal mechanisms of participation. Road blockades are not viewed merely as disruptions to public order; rather, they are understood as collective political tactics employed by citizens to pressure the state into addressing their demands. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with community members and relevant actors, direct field observations at road blockade sites, and document analysis of media reports and official government records. The data were analyzed thematically, drawing on perspectives from political sociology and social movement theory. The findings indicate that road blockades in Bima represent an accumulation of structural grievances stemming from prolonged road deterioration, rising levels of criminal activity, and the slow response of local government authorities. Road infrastructure, as a form of public space, has undergone a process of politicization and has been transformed into an arena for collective expression in the pursuit of social justice. For local residents, road blockades are perceived as a means of reclaiming bargaining power within an unequal relationship of power vis-à-vis the state. Meanwhile, governmental responses to these actions are ambivalent, oscillating between mild repressive measures and dialogical approaches, with policy implementation remaining partial and inconsistent. These findings underscore that road blockades constitute a rational and context-specific repertoire of local collective action, while simultaneously reflecting weaknesses in public service governance in marginalized regions such as Bima.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the implementation of passenger service standards by the Harbormaster based on the Regulation of the Minister of Transportation Number 37 of 2015 at Pantai Baru Port, Rote Ndao Regency, as well as to examine passengers’ perceptions of the services provided. This research employs a qualitative approach with data collection methods including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research informants were purposively selected and consisted of Harbormaster officials, port officers, security personnel, the Rote Ndao Regency Transportation Office, and sea transportation passengers. Data analysis was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation techniques applied to ensure data validity. The results indicate that the implementation of Harbormaster service standards at Pantai Baru Port has been carried out in accordance with regulatory provisions, particularly in terms of maritime safety and security. However, the implementation of these service standards has not yet been fully optimal, especially regarding facility comfort, queue management, departure punctuality, and transparency of service information. Passengers generally perceive the Harbormaster’s services as fairly good in terms of safety and the friendliness of officers, but they continue to highlight the limited port facilities and the weak information system as the main sources of dissatisfaction. This study concludes that there is a gap between normative service standards and actual service practices in the field, indicating the need for improvements in facilities, strengthening of human resources, and enhancement of communication and service information systems to improve the quality of public services at ports in archipelagic regions.

Abstract

Tenun Ikat is not just a fabric, but a reflection of the identity, beliefs, and noble values of the local community. Each motif, color, and pattern woven into the ikat has a strong symbolic meaning, telling the stories of ancestors, customary rituals, and the worldview of the community. This research aims to identify the symbolic meanings of ikat weaving used in the invitation designs created by students of SMKN 4 Kupang. It analyzes the role of social interaction in shaping the meaning of ikat symbols. in the design of invitations and examining the implications of using ikat weaving symbols for the preservation of local culture in Kupang. This research employs a qualitative approach of Symbolic Interactionism. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation involving students, teachers, local weavers, and local designers. The results of this research indicate that the utilization of traditional ikat weaving motifs in the digital wedding invitation design by students of SMKN 4 Kupang is not merely an aesthetic trend, but rather a profound cultural process. Through Roland Barthes' semiotic approach, it is revealed that the weaving motifs (Katak Ayotupas, Belis Danu, and Mamuli) possess layers of rich symbolic meaning, from literal denotation to cultural myths that are deeply rooted in local identity and spirituality. The symbolic meaning of the motifs is not created individually. Instead, this meaning is negotiated and enriched through collective dialogue. This interaction transforms the historical and emotional context that transforms motifs into a living heritage. The implications of preserving local culture, through the use of ikat weaving in modern media such as digital invitations, serve as an indirect educational tool for the community, reinforcing the cultural identity of the couple and strengthening cultural ties that may begin to fade. Thus, this research concludes that the design of digital invitations can be an effective medium to bridge tradition and modernity, ensuring that cultural heritage remains relevant, authentic, and continues to thrive in the digital era.

Abstract

Maritime safety is a crucial aspect of sea transportation that requires effective coordination and communication between vessels and coastal authorities. One of the key instruments in ensuring maritime safety is the routine reporting of vessels to Coastal Radio Stations (CRS). This study aims to analyze the level of vessel compliance in reporting to the CRS and its implications for maritime safety. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews with CRS officers and ship crew members, and documentation of vessel reporting records. The findings indicate that the level of reporting compliance varies and is influenced by factors such as regulatory awareness, the technical condition of communication equipment, and the safety awareness of ship crews. Insufficient reporting may hinder monitoring processes and delay rapid response to maritime incidents. This study recommends enhanced dissemination of relevant regulations, stricter supervision, and improvements in communication infrastructure as measures to increase reporting compliance and ultimately improve maritime safety.
