Abstract

The dynamics of Muslims are often colored by differences of opinion in viewing a problem that occurs in society, including the issue of smoking laws. In the midst of the debate between Islamic Organizations in viewing the fatwa as haram on smoking, the thing that must be realized is that the number of smokers in Indonesia tends to increase rapidly every year. Bengkulu Province, as one of the provinces with a majority Muslim population, is also the Province with the highest smoking rate in Indonesia. The Regional Regulation on KTR(no smoking area) has been passed, but several main factors have caused the implementation of the Regional Regulation on KTR to be ineffective, namely the low budget and the lack of involvement of community groups in socializing or supervising violators. In fact, the Regional Regulation on KTR has provided space for the participation of community groups to support the implementation of the Regional Regulation. Muhammadiyah organizations in a community group that have the same vision as the Perda (local regulation) KTR by making Fatwa Haram smoking. In addition, the Muhammadiyah Ormas is one of the largest mass organizations in Indonesia with tens of millions of members spread from the center to remote areas. Muhammadiyah organizations have also established several institutions that are concerned with tobacco control, which are centered on several Muhammadiyah campuses. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Fatwa Haram Smoking by the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership in Cadre behavior and the role of Muhammadiyah Organizations in supporting the implementation of the Regional Regulation on KTR in Bengkulu province. This research uses a qualitative approach that is field research. Methods of collecting data with in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Furthermore, it was analyzed using the Miles and Hubberman model through three stages, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the study found that the implementation of the Fatwa Haram Smoking by the Muhammadiyah Central Executive in the behavior of Cadres in Bengkulu was quite good. This is evidenced by the majority of Muhammadiyah administrators in the province who already know and agree with the smoking law and have applied anti-smoking behavior in themselves and their families. Meanwhile, the role of Muhammadiyah organizations in supporting the implementation of the Regional Regulation on KTR in Bengkulu province has not been optimal. This is evidenced by the lack of socialization and education media about Non-Smoking Areas, both at the secretariat office and at the Muhammadiyah Bengkulu Province charity business premises. In addition, the involvement of Muhammadiyah mass organizations to collaborate with the government in the implementation of the Regional Regulation on KTR does not yet exist.

For female Korean skincare users in Medan City, the construction of a beautiful reality occurs through three simultaneous stages: externalization, objectivation, and internalization. At the externalization stage, beauty is defined as physical appearance. The objectification stage revealed that the informants' knowledge about the concept of beauty was increasingly diverse. At the internalization stage, beauty is defined as a combination of visible physical beauty and inner beauty, which complement each other.

Abstract

This research discusses the phenomenon of the Korean Wave and fanaticism communities (fandom) in social media to bring the influence and impact of the Korean Wave phenomenon in Indonesia. This research aimed (1) to describe how the Korean Wave phenomenon can create fanatical fandom in social media; (2) to outline the forms and patterns of fanatical fandom towards K-Pop; (3) to identify the factors that influence the behavior and the consequences of such fanatical behavior. The research method used was descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were K-Pop fans, both those associated with the fandom and those who are not. The participants were gathered using the snowball technique, while data collection used observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that introducing foreign cultures, including the Korean Wave phenomenon, can lead to fanatical behavior among fans. This behavior is characterized by intentionally building emotional bonds to strengthen the connection between fans and idols. In addition, the shared identity as fans creates a strong solidarity among themselves. Excessive solidarity can indirectly lead to negative energy that harms others and can lead to conflicts. Furthermore, social media, marketing strategies, and the attractiveness of K-Pop idols also shape fanatical behavior.

Abstract

Since the number of poor households in Indonesia is still high, the Indonesian government encourages women from these families to do small businesses by joining a network called Jar-PUK stands for Jaringan Perempuan Usaha Kecil or Small Business Women Network. This network is intended to empower women’s economy, thereby reducing poverty. Several previous studies showed that the effectiveness of Jar-PUK in empowering women’s economy is still questionable. Therefore, this study aims to examine the role of Jar-PUK in Sidorejo, a rural village in Bengkulu, Indonesia, in empowering the economy of its members. This study focused on two groups of Jar-PUK, namely Jar-PUK Seroja and Jar-PUK Sedap Malam, each consisting of 20 women. The participants of this study were selected based on purposive sampling techniques, including coordinators and members from Jar-PUK groups. Data were collected using triangulation techniques involving observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions. The collected data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The result shows that Jar-PUK has yet to become an agent of economic empowerment for its members. This study suggests that small business activities run by Jar-PUK members still need to develop to their maximum potential. The obstacles the Jar-PUK members face in running their businesses are a need for knowledge and entrepreneurship skills. These challenges hindered the optimal growth and success of their small businesses. Therefore, the Jar-PUK members need training on entrepreneur skills and mentoring to foster economic empowerment and improve their business’s overall performance.
