Abstract

The objectives of research were to (1) understand effect of exsternal and internal factors on farmers activeness in following FFS activities in Sub District Manatuto and Lospalos, (2) explain effects of farmers activeness on following FFS activities on innovation adoption level of vegetables farming. This research used survey method. The respondents were farmers who followed farmer field school in sub District Manatuto and Lospalos (20 administrators and 80 members). Variables used in this research were external factor (role of Liurai, Lisan, agriculture extension and land area) and internal factors (age, frmal and non frmal education, market perception, farmers’ attitude to innovation and motivation) and activeness variables of farmers in following FFS. The results inc=dicated that formal and informal education affected activeness of farmers with sigv=nificant values of 0.034 for formal education and 0.001 for Non formal education. Whie external factors of farmers, namely, role of Liurai, really affected activeness of farmers with significant value of 0.016. furthermore, activeness variables of farmers also really affected level of vegetables farming innovation adoption through FFS in Sub District Mnatuto and Lospalos with significant rate of 0.001.

Abstract

This paper presents the economic optimization of the shrimps fishing industry in the south coast of Central Java and adjacent waters. The physical yield function of the shrimps fishery is incorporated in an economic model to analyze the relationship between the level of fishing effort and the economic efficiency of the fishery. The open access fishery and the controlled fishery at maximum sustainable yield level causes inefficient allocation of resources. Only through control the effort at the level where marginal oost of production equal price resources can be allocated efficiently. The government intervention is necessary to restrict fishing effort to a level that would be economically optimum

Abstract

The aims of this paper are to investigate the human resource performances at the workshop division in fixing damage tractors and to determine factors influencing their performances, and also to analyze the human resource performances on the plantation division in operating tractors to support the operation of sugarcane plantation. The survey method was conducted to collect primary data from the plantation and workshop divisions employees of PT Sweet Indo Lampung (PT SIL). Likert scale was applied to measure and determine variables of human resource performance and other relevant variables. Multiple linear regression models were used for the analysis measurement of human resources performances. The results show that human resource performances in the workshop and plantation divisions to operate tractors are in good category, but it still has to be improved. This includes the timelines to finish the work, obedience and loyalty of the employees, work planning and ability to manage the work. The factors that have positive influence on human resource performances are compensation, work environment, work relationship, and employee potential. The factor that has negative influence is expectation in developing performance. The longer time needed to repair the tractors was caused by the spare parts stock, number of mechanics that can handle the tractor, the workers skill and teamwork. Factors that cause damage on tractors are lack of maintenance, sloping area in sugar cane plantation, and lack of operators skill.

Abstract

Rice is a staple food in Indonesia. Badan Urusan Logistik (BULOG) has the job of Public Service Obligation (PSO) to maintain the availability of rice in Indonesia. The objectives of this study were to 1) analyze the economic order quantity, the amount of safety stock, maximum inventory, and reorder point by Perum BULOG Regional Division of East Java; 2) analyze total inventory cost and efficiency cost of rice stock by Perum BULOG Regional Division of East Java. The research method was the case study. Purposive sampling was used to determine research location. Data were analyzed by the economic order quantity (EOQ), safety stock, maximum inventory, reorder point, total inventory cost, and cost-efficiency. Research result showed that economic order quantity at Perum BULOG Regional Division of East Java was 3,331 ton for each ordering and ordering frecuency for each years was 357 times. The amount of safety stock was 297,360.5 ton. Maximum inventory that can be managed was 300,691.5 ton. Reorder point by Perum BULOG Regional Division of East Java was 395,122.9 ton. The cost efficiency up to IDR 4,040,130.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to analyze which factors can influence Indonesia’s consumer intention to buy local food by online and whether the intention can affect to purchasing decision or not. This research used Partial Least Square (PLS) as data analysis with significance level 5%. There are several requirements to fulfil the criteria of data anlaysis, they are convergent validity, discriminant validity, and composite reliability. The result is all of three requirement is achieved. Bootstrapping analysis was used to examine the significance and verify the hypotheses. There were five independent variables and two dependent variables. The independent variables were perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, perceived trust, perceived risk, and perceived price. The dependent variables were intention to buy and purchasing decision. There are two variables which are significance towards intention to buy, they are perceived risk and perceived price. Perceived risk is significance and consistent with the theory which has negative effect towards intention to buy, while perceived price is significance and has positive effect towards intention to buy. Perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived trust are not significant toward intention to buy. Variables intention to buy is intervention variable which affect significantly towards purchasing decision. R-square score for intention to buy is 30.5% while r-square score for purchasing decision is 25.9%.

Abstract

The animal feed industry is essential as it supports livestock industry in meeting the need of protein of a country. Feed contribution reaching at 70 percent of livestock production cost makes feed becomes an pivotal factor which could boost its sales. Unfortunately net income of animal feed companies for the last five years tent to decrease and emerged problems. The aim of this study were to examine internal and external factors affecting profitability represented by ROA and formulate recommendations in improving them. The results showed that internal factors affecting ROA significantly are Sales, COGS, and TATO, while for the external factor is exchange rate. DAR, inflation and international corn prices do not influence ROA significantly. The implications for companies and animal feed industries in improving profitability generally is by increasing sales and TATO value. Also, the company must be able to press COGS especially raw material cost which is more sensitive to profitability when its price is higher. Companies have to conduct risk management in order to anticipate exchange rate volatility followed by government’s action as regulator in maintaining macroeconomic and trade stability.

Abstract

The aims of this study is to analyze the performance of export-import, competitiveness and the factors affecting export-import of Vietnam rice. Type of data used is secondary data of 1980-2009. To determine the fluctuation of export-import trade were applied trend and trade specialization ratio. To find out the analysis of competitiveness were run revealed comparative advantage (RCA) and acceleration ratio (AR). To investigate the factors affecting the export and import used error correction model (ECM). Vietnam export trend showed an increase and imports trend showed a decline and in the maturity stage. Vietnam has high competitiveness but the exports acceleration is low. Vietnam’s export affected by per capita rice availability and the exchange rate while imports of Vietnam affected by the production, world rice prices and real national income.

Abstract

All countries around the world are dealing the same problem in assuring the sufficiency of food for feeding their people. Indonesia is the biggest agrarian state in South East Asia and the fourth largest state in the world. The challenge faced by Indonesia with a large population is on how food meets the needs of its population, which until now Indonesia has not been able to guarantee the fulfillment of food supply for its population. This study aims to analyze the influence of determinant factors toward Indonesian food security. Binary Logit Model was employed to analyze determinant factors of Indonesian food security. Jonsson and Toole criterion of food security was used to identify Indonesian food security status as dependent variable. This research found that land area, rice production, corn production, soybean production, chicken meat production, beef production, the population density the CPI (Customer Price Index) including the CPI for housing, electricity and gas, the CPI for health, the CPI for transportation and financial services, and FIMI (Food Insecurity Multidimensional Index) have significant influences towards the level of food security in Indonesia. It means that food security could be achieved by not only improving the quantity and quality of consumption, but also improving food supply, the ability to access economically and the stability.
