Abstract

The digitalisation of the economy is a key factor in improving the competitiveness and resilience of MSMEs, especially in this era of ongoing social transformation. MSMEs in the Greater Malang area face challenges in adopting digital technology, both in terms of access, digital literacy, and infrastructure readiness. Social transformation driven by changes in consumer behaviour, government policies, and technological innovations requires SMEs to adapt in order to survive and thrive. Therefore, this research is crucial for exploring effective economic digitalisation models for SMEs, aiming to strengthen economic resilience amid the ongoing social and economic dynamics.  The objective of this research is to identify and analyse economic digitalisation models that can be applied by MSMEs to enhance economic resilience through social transformation. The methodology employed is a mixed-method approach, combining qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews and case studies of MSMEs, as well as quantitative analysis through surveys of MSMEs in Malang Raya. The results indicate that digital transformation influences social transformation, SME economic digitalisation has a significant positive impact on economic resilience, social transformation has a significant positive impact on economic resilience, and SME economic digitalisation influences economic resilience through social transformation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore sustainable entrepreneurship models in the food MSME sector by highlighting the role of women. The main focus of this research is to identify the obstacles and supporting factors in the development of gender-based food MSMEs and to analyse women's contribution to food security in the Greater Malang area. Additionally, this research aims to examine empowerment strategies for women that can enhance business sustainability and provide policy recommendations to support more inclusive economic growth. The research methodology employs a mixed-method approach to achieve a more in-depth analysis. Qualitative data was collected through in-depth interviews with food SME stakeholders, while quantitative data was obtained through surveys to assess factors influencing business sustainability and food security. The research findings indicate that the role of gender in food SME entrepreneurship has a significant positive impact on local food security. Gender roles in food SME entrepreneurship influence local food security through women's empowerment strategies. Women's empowerment strategies act as mediating variables that strengthen the relationship between gender roles and food security. The more effectively women's empowerment strategies are implemented, the greater the positive influence of gender-based entrepreneurship on local food security.

Abstract

This study analyzes the effect of seed and fertilizer assistance programs on the income of rice farmens in Bone Bolango Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with a multiple linear regression method, based on primary data from 90 farmers selected through an accidental sampling technique. The regression coefficient for the seed assistance variable is 0.395 with a significance value of 0.000, whereas the coefficient for the fertilizer assistance is 0.576 with a significance value of 0.000. This suggest that each increase in the quantity or quality of seed and fertilizer assistance can have a significant effect on farmens’ income. Thus, the policy of providing agricultural production inputs such as seeds and fertilizers has proven effective in increasing farmers’ income.

Abstract

This study aims to identify regional economic performance by determining which regions demonstrate the best economic performance and to formulate policies for improving such performance. The research employs secondary data analysis covering nine regencies in Jambi Province over the period 2015–2024. The analytical model used is the Regional Economic Performance Index (REPI), which also serves as the basis for formulating policies to enhance regional economic performance. The results indicate that the average REPI of the nine regencies in Jambi Province is 73.37, categorized as good. Sarolangun Regency records the highest REPI at 78.39, while West Tanjung Jabung Regency has the lowest REPI at 71.29. Policy measures to improve the REPI include increasing the contribution of the industrial sector, optimizing the utilization of natural resources, controlling food distribution and production, expanding employment and business opportunities, improving the quality and skills of the labor force, and providing subsidies for basic necessities.

Abstract

Poverty is a multidimensional problem that remains a major development issue in Gorontalo Province. This study aims to analyze the effect of gender inequality on poverty in districts/cities of Gorontalo Province in the period 2019–2023. Poverty as the dependent variable is measured by the number of poor people in the districts/cities of Gorontalo Province, while the three indicators of gender inequality as independent variables are the ratio of female health workers to males, the ratio of the average length of schooling (RLS) of females to males, and the ratio of the labor force participation rate (TPAK) of females to males. This study uses a quantitative approach with a panel data regression method, using secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Gorontalo Province and the Gorontalo Provincial Health Office. Data analysis was carried out using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results of the study indicate that partially, health workers have a negative but insignificant effect on poverty, average years of schooling have a negative but insignificant effect on poverty, and labor force participation rate has a negative but significant effect on poverty. Simultaneously, all three variables have a significant effect on poverty in Gorontalo Province. These findings indicate that increasing gender equality, particularly through labor force participation, can contribute to poverty reduction in the districts/cities of Gorontalo Province.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze factors that can affect the level of farmer welfare in 34 Indonesian provinces using the Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) indicator from 2019 to 2024. The data used in this study are secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The Food Crop Farmer Exchange Rate (NTPP) is the dependent variable with its independent variables being Agricultural GRDP, Rice Harvested Area, Rice Productivity, and Informal Labor in the Agricultural Sector. Data processing uses a panel data regression analysis method with a Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. The results show that Agricultural GRDP has a positive and significant effect on NTP, which means that increasing agricultural output encourages farmer welfare. Conversely, Rice Harvested Area has a negative and significant effect, indicating that excess supply without price control reduces farmer income. Rice Productivity and Informal Labor do not have a significant effect on NTP due to structural constraints such as unstable distribution and market prices. Simultaneously, all of these variables have a significant effect on NTP. These findings underscore the need for an integrated strategy to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve production management to boost farmer welfare.

Abstract

Business sustainability refers to the ability of enterprises to maintain continuous operations through sound management practices, including business development, expansion, and adaptive decision-making in response to a dynamic business environment. In the context of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), sustainability is largely influenced by internal factors, particularly the financial behavior of business owners and their level of financial inclusion. This study aims to examine the role of financial behavior and financial inclusion in sustaining MSMEs in Batu City. This research adopts a quantitative approach with a causal-associative research design. Data were collected through a survey using structured questionnaires distributed to MSME owners in Batu City. The collected data were analyzed using hypothesis testing techniques to assess both partial and simultaneous effects of financial behavior and financial inclusion on business sustainability. The findings indicate that financial behavior and financial inclusion play a significant role in supporting the sustainability of MSMEs in Batu City. Individually, both variables contribute positively to the ability of MSME owners to maintain and develop their businesses. Simultaneously, financial behavior and financial inclusion demonstrate a strong combined influence on MSME sustainability. These results highlight the importance of strengthening financial management capabilities and expanding access to inclusive financial services as strategic efforts to enhance the long-term sustainability of MSMEs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the BI-Rate, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and economic expectations (proxied by the Consumer Confidence Index/CCI) on the demand for consumer credit at commercial banks in Indonesia during and after the Covid-19 pandemic. The data used are quarterly secondary data from the 2018–2024 period, analyzed using the Error Correction Model (ECM) approach to examine both short-term and long-term relationships among variables. The results show that in the long term, the BI-Rate has a negative significant effect, GDP has a positive and significant effect, while CCI has a negative and insignificant effect on consumer credit demand. In the short term, only the BI-Rate has a positive and significant effect, whereas GDP and CCI do not show significant effects. These findings indicate that interest rates play a dominant role in directly influencing consumer credit demand in the short term, while economic growth demonstrates a more substantial impact in the long term. Meanwhile, consumer economic expectations, as reflected by the CCI, have not been proven to significantly influence consumer borrowing decisions.

Abstract

This study analyzes the level of technology adoption and its impact on the business development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Gorontalo City, Indonesia. Using a quantitative descriptive comparative design, data were obtained from 86 MSMEs 43 assisted and 43 non-assisted through structured questionnaires. The results reveal significant differences in technology adoption levels between the two groups (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the study confirms a strong positive impact of technology adoption on business growth (p < 0.01), where MSM Es with a high level of digital adoption experienced approximately 25–30% higher income growth compared to those with low adoption. These findings emphasize that technological adoption not only distinguishes business performance among MSMEs but also acts as a key driver for income expansion and competitive advantage through digital transformation. These results position technology adoption as both a key differentiator of MSME performance and a vital driver of sustainable growth and competitiveness. Policymakers should prioritize targeted digital training to bridge this gap.
