Abstract

This research aims to find out: (1) Integrated Social Sciences learning planning; (2) implementation of integrated social studies learning; (3) barriers to integrated social studies learning; (4) assessment of integrated social studies learning at SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The data collection methods are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses an interactive analysis model. Test data reliability through triangulation techniques. The research results are as follows: (1) Integrated social studies learning planning at SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi using a learning model with a problem approach; (2) In general, the implementation of Integrated Social Sciences learning has been effective. The implementation of learning uses three stages, namely introduction, core activities, and closing; (3) Barriers/obstacles to implementing Integrated Social Sciences learning include: (a) social studies teacher educational background; (b) not all students are interested in social studies subjects; (c) limited learning media/facilities; (d) teaching materials that do not yet reflect integration between IPS branches; (4) Assessment of integrated social studies learning is carried out using test and non-test assessment instruments which are then reported to the students' parents. The study of the implementation of Integrated Social Sciences learning at SMP Negeri 7 Muaro Jambi opens a new window towards innovative approaches in social sciences-based education at the secondary level.

Abstract

This research aims to develop wordless comic media as a speaking learning tool for fifth grade elementary school students. The development method used is Research and Development (R&D) with stages including preliminary study, planning, development, testing, evaluation and revision. Evaluation is carried out through observation, interviews, and speaking ability tests before and after using comic media. Revisions are carried out based on evaluation results to improve and improve the quality of comic media. The research results show that the use of wordless comic media can increase students' interest in learning to speak. Students demonstrate increased ability to convey ideas, understand context, and communicate effectively. This comic media also helps students who have difficulty understanding written texts. In conclusion, the development of wordless comic media can be an effective alternative in teaching speaking in fifth grade elementary school. Support from the teacher is needed in implementing this media so that it can provide maximum benefits for the student learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) obtain an overview of portfolio assessment planning for English language learning at MAN Insan Cendekia Jambi, 2) describe the implementation of portfolio assessment for English language learning at MAN Insan Cendekia Jambi. 3) describe the advantages and obstacles of portfolio assessment in English language learning at MAN Human Cendekia Jambi. The approach used in this research is qualitative research. The results of the research show that portfolio assessment planning in English language learning at MAN Insan Cendekia Jambi includes several components, such as: educator preparation, consideration of the values that will be applied, and determining appropriate learning material. Apart from that, the assessment also includes students' affective aspects which aim to form good student attitudes in accordance with the Islamic boarding school concept. The implementation of portfolio assessment in English language learning also experiences obstacles, namely limited time, different student characteristics, and institutional support regarding portfolio assessment that is not yet well systemized. Portfolio assessment in English language learning at MAN Insan Cendekia Jambi includes: evidence of thought processes, quality of activities, and diversity of approaches.The implementation of portfolio assessment in English lessons at MAN Insan Cendekia Jambi shows the school's commitment to improving students' learning experience holistically. This research has the potential to provide new insights regarding the effectiveness of alternative evaluation methods in the context of English language education.

Abstract

This study is aimed at finding descriptions about : a) to what extent Jigsaw Technique can improve students’ ability in comprehending of the Redoks reaction at grade XI ATP of SMK N 4 Muaro Jambi, and b) factors that influence the changes of students’ ability in comprehension of Redoks reaction at grade XI ATP of SMKN 4 Muaro Jambi. The design of the research is Classroom Action Research. The research is conducted in three Cycles. At each cycle, it is administered in four phases, namely: Plan, Action, Observation, and Reflection. The participants of the research are the students at grade XI ATP of SMKN Muaro Jambi in the 2017-2018 academic years. The instruments of the research consist of; tests, and observation checklists. The data were analyzed using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings of the research are: a) the use of Jigsaw Technique could improve the students’ ability in comprehension of the Redoks reactions at grade XI ATP of SMKN 4 Muaro Jambi, b) the factors that influence the changes of the students’ ability in comprehension of Redoks reaction: redoks reaction material, teaching technique, and classroom management. Based on the findings the researcher suggsets English teachers who have the same problem to use jigsaw technique to solve their problems in teaching to comprehend the redoks reaction and the future researchers are expected to do the research on the other skills.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) develop student worksheets for economics subjects based on learning by doing for class learn using student worksheets developed. The method used in this development research is the 4-D (Four D) Research and Development (R&D) model method. The instruments used were observation sheets and questionnaires using a Likert scale as well as cognitive questions in the form of multiple choices. The resulting product is validated by a team of experts and tested on small and large groups.The resulting product is a student worksheet based on learning by doing which was developed using a 4-D model and validated by a team of experts with 1 revision. The validation results obtained by material experts were: 86.40% (very feasible), media experts: 80.00% (feasible), teacher response: 90.40% (very feasible), so that the student worksheets developed were suitable for testing. The results of the small group trial obtained the percentage: 98.00% (very interesting) and the large group: 98.44% (very interesting). From the results of the pre-test and post-test, the values (g) were obtained: low: 5 people, medium: 25 people and high: 2 people. This shows that the student worksheets developed are of good quality with 100% classical completeness. So it can be concluded that student worksheets based on learning by doing in economics subjects are declared very feasible, very interesting and effective for use by teachers and students of class.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of teachers in developing nationalistic attitudes in fifth grade elementary school students. This research was conducted at SDN NO. 34/1 Teratai, Muara Bulian. This research was aimed at determining teachers' skills in developing nationalist attitudes in elementary school students. This research uses a qualitative research approach, with a phenomenological research method. The subjects of this research were teachers and students of class V C. Data collection techniques in this research used observation and interviews. Data analysis uses data reduction steps, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data uses triangulation techniques. The research results show that the role of teachers in developing nationalist attitudes in fifth grade elementary school students focuses on the role of teachers in developing nationalist attitudes through 1) teachers as educators in developing nationalist attitudes, (2) teachers as facilitators in developing nationalist attitudes; (3) teachers as models and role models in developing nationalist attitudes; (4) teachers as motivators in developing nationalist attitudes; (5) teachers as guides in developing nationalist attitudes; (6) forms of manifestation of students' nationalist attitudes, such as attitudes of unity and oneness, love of the homeland, willingness to sacrifice, tolerance, pride as an Indonesian nation and homeland, and discipline.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a Preventive Dentistry practice guide module as a learning aid for students of the Dental Nursing Department at the Jambi Health Polytechnic. This research uses research and development methods involving various stages such as needs analysis, teaching material development, expert validation, and field trials. The research sample involved third semester students of the Dental Nursing Department for the 2017-2018 academic year, Jambi Health Polytechnic. Data was collected through student achievement assessments, questionnaires, and expert validation. The validation results show that the module developed meets the criteria for clarity of learning objectives, availability of practicum tools and materials, consistency of writing, and suitability of images/photos with practicum material. Based on input and suggestions from material experts and design experts, revisions were made to the module to improve its quality. It is hoped that this module can help students understand and apply Preventive Dentistry material more effectively and efficiently.

Abstract

This research examines the impact of parenting patterns on student discipline at SDN 110 Tenam, Batanghari Regency. The significance of this research lies in discussing the importance of the role of parents in shaping student behavior and academic achievement. A mixed methods approach was used, combining surveys to collect quantitative data on parenting styles and disciplinary issues, and interviews to gain qualitative insight into parental attitudes and disciplinary strategies. The results showed a correlation between authoritative parenting and positive student discipline outcomes, while authoritarian and permissive parenting styles were associated with higher levels of student discipline problems. In addition, qualitative analysis revealed differences in parents' perceptions and approaches to disciplining children. The novelty of this research lies in its focus on a specific school context and its integration of quantitative and qualitative methodologies. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of encouraging authoritative parenting practices to foster a conducive learning environment and improve student behavior. This research contributes to the broader discourse regarding effective parenting strategies and their impact on student discipline, advocating for collaborative efforts between parents, educators, and policymakers to support holistic student development.

Abstract

This research aims to describe learning planning, learning implementation, learning assessment that teachers encounter in implementing the 2013 Curriculum in class IV Primary School 55/I Sridadi. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research type because the researcher wants to describe a phenomenon according to the conditions actually experienced by the research subject. The data collected is data regarding the implementation of the 2013 curriculum which includes planning, implementation and assessment of learning activities based on the 2013 Curriculum and this data is presented in the form of words. The data collection techniques used observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data validity checking technique uses triangulation. The research results show that the teacher's steps in preparing the Study plan are choosing a theme, reviewing the teacher's book, reviewing the syllabus, then preparing the Study plan. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in class IVA has been carried out well. The implementation of the 2013 curriculum in class IVA received support from class IVA teachers who had taken part in the 2013 curriculum training, the government which helped with teacher and student handbooks, schools which provided Information Technology and Technology facilities. However, there is a lack of student understanding of the learning material.

Abstract

This study examines the reading ability of elementary school students in Batanghari Regency, focusing on their comprehension of short stories. The methodology involved administering reading comprehension tests to a sample of students, followed by analysis using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Qualitative research aims to understand and explain phenomena in depth through descriptive and interpretive analysis, while quantitative research aims to measure and test relationships between variables using statistical methods and data collection in the form of numbers. The results indicate varying levels of proficiency among the students, with factors such as socio-economic background and access to educational resources playing significant roles. Furthermore, the study highlights the importance of early intervention programs and targeted literacy initiatives in improving reading skills among elementary school students. The novelty of this research lies in its specific focus on a rural area like Batanghari Regency, shedding light on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by students in such contexts. The implications of these findings underscore the need for tailored educational strategies and resource allocation to address literacy disparities and enhance overall learning outcomes in similar regions.
