Abstract

The eye was one of the senses that functions to record a state or condition so that humans could know the object they see. However, not all humans were created with normal eye conditions; some had visual disturbances from birth. Blind people generally use a walking aid in the form of a cane or a trained dog to help with movement and increase safety and independence during activities. This research aimed to produce gloves as a tool for blind people who had a distance accuracy from the ultrasonic sensor. This research was a research development (R&D). The results showed that the average error percentage was 1.75% for the ultrasonic sensor one and the average error percentage was 2.13% for the ultrasonic sensor 2. So it can be concluded that the research data obtained has a research accuracy of 98.25% for the ultrasonic sensor 1 and 97.87% for the sensor. Ultrasonic 2. The maximum distance that the two ultrasonic sensors can read is 55 cm; at that distance, the two ultrasonic sensors will work properly. For distances above the maximum distance, the ultrasonic sensor cannot do.

Abstract

The interaction of radiation with cells will form free radicals. Free radicals can cause cell damage. The presence of free radicals contained in cells could be detected using Electron Spin Resonance. Antioxidant compounds could minimize free radicals. This study analyzed curcumin extract and gamma radiation exposure on the area of free radical curves in the lungs of mice. Eighty male mice were used in this study and were divisible into three groups, namely the negative control group, the non-extract radiation group, and the extract plus radiation group. Curcumin extract was given at a dose of 1,4 gr/kgBB; 2,0 gr/kgBB; 2,6 gr/kgBB; 3,2 gr/kgBB and 3,8 gr/kgBB. The mice were exposed to gamma radiation for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 minutes. The results showed that curcumin extract, which was given as prevention from gamma radiation, reduced the area of the free radical curve from 0,630 cm2 to 0,004 cm2.

Abstract

Research on the calculation of tapering from lung's images of patients with pleural effusion and normal lungs has been carrying out using the thresholding segmentation method. The tapering calculation was done using the Matlab programming language by applying the thresholding segmentation method's image processing theory. Images sharpness was obtaining from calculating the longest distance from all distances that were searching in the program. The steps taken in this research were image quality improvement, determination of the region of interest (ROI), thresholding segmentation, and calculating the tilt. Taper count was performing on eight lung images identified pleural effusion and eight lung images identified as normal. In 8 images of lungs pleural effusions, each taper was obtained 166; 159; 167; 167; 150; 157; 114; and 149. Whereas in 8 images of normal lungs, it was obtained that the respective curls were 187; 174; 181; 198; 199; 195; 179; and 195. The analysis showed that the lung's images of pleural effusion patients had a tapering of less than 171. In contrast, normal lung images had a tapering of more than 171, so that one characteristic was obtained that could distinguish between normal lungs and pleural effusions. It can facilitate medical personnel in the early detection of pleural effusion patients so that they can be handled quickly and accurately.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how to test the rate of metal corrosion using dip-coating electrolyte solutions. The electrolyte solutions used are vinegar, lime juice, saltwater, and rainwater—this research conducted by the method of losing weight by dipping the electrolyte solution. The sample immersed for 27 days. The calculation results obtained and samples without coating have a high corrosion rate, so they destroyed quickly. The higher the value of the corrosion rate, the more easily destroyed it will be, and the sample will easily weather/damaged. Likewise, on the contrary, the lower the corrosion rate, the less corrosion that occurs, and the better the sample is protected from rust.
