Abstract

The failures of students learning are related to many factors, such as, low interest in learning something, low discipline, and less-supportive learning environment. This research intends to know the presence or absence the positive and significant correlation among learning interest, discipline and learning environment with mathematics learning outcomes of eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Banguntapan, Bantul Regency, the first semester of the 2015/2016 academic year. The population in this research is the eighth-grade students amounting to 5 classes. The class sample was taken from the class VIII-A, and the class test was taken from the class VIII-E by random sampling technique. Data collecting technique was done by questionnaire method and testing method. The test of research instruments involves validity test, reliability test, and different power test. The test of analysis preconditions involves normality test, linearity test, and independence test. The analysis of data used product moment correlation analysis and double linear regression analysis. The result of research showed that there is a positive and significant correlation among learning interest, discipline, and learning environment with mathematics learning outcomes, as well as Ŷ = -28,5840 + 0,2766 X1 + 0,2412 X2 + 0,2788 X3  and SR X1= 38,181%, SR X2 = 6,593% and SR X3= 35,226%.

Abstract

The teacher-centered learning process of mathematics will cause students not to be actively involved in the learning process. Discovery Learning model is expected to change the learning activities of teacher-oriented into student oriented so that the effect on student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the Discovery Learning model of mathematics learning outcomes of students of class VII SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Yogyakarta, even semester of the academic year 2016/2017. This type of research is experimental research using Posttest-Only Control Design. The research sample is class VII E as an experimental class, and class VII B as a control class was taken by cluster random sampling technique. The experimental class is the class that is treated using the Discovery Learning model, while the control class is a class that uses the direct learning model. In this study, data collection using written tests and instruments of data collection using test questions. The data obtained were analyzed using a t-test. The study results at a significant level of 5%, and degrees of freedom = 51 indicate (1) there are differences in learning outcomes between students using the Discovery Learning model, and students using direct learning models. This is shown by ttable = 2,00758, and tcount = 4,24125, so tcount > ttable, and (2) Discovery Learning model is more effective than learning using direct learning model. This is indicated by the value ttable = 1.67528, and tcount = 4.24125 so that tcount > ttable.

Abstract

Module limitation is one of the problems that affect the achievement of learning. The existing teaching materials are still challenging to understand. Teaching materials that can help students learn actively and independently are modules. This study aims to develop, test the feasibility of teaching materials in the form of modules, and know the student's response to developing mathematics materials based on creativity. This type of research is research development. The development procedure steps are potentials and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, product testing, product revision, and trial usage. Research subjects were material experts, media experts, and student response in SMP Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Pleret and Junior High School (SMP), Muhammadiyah Sanden. This research object is the subject matter of Mathematics Material of Set for VII Student Based on Creativity. Data collection techniques in this study are by using questionnaires. The results showed that the average material scores 80,33 were excellent; the average media scores 85,33 with the excellent category and the average student response rating of 73,33 with the excellent category. Based on these calculations' results, the mathematical material in the form of modules developed feasible to use in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This research was carried out because of the activities of the eighth-grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Prambanan in the 2015/1016 school year in mathematics learning was still lacking. The purpose of this study is to increase the activity of students in mathematics learning by using the Realistic Mathematics Approach class VIII Even Semester SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Prambanan 2015/2016 academic year. This research is a classroom action research. The settings used are class VIII, amounting to 27 students. The study was conducted in 2 cycles, namely, cycle I and cycle II, each cycle consisted of 2 meetings. Cycle I and cycle II used the Realistic Mathematics Approach. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation, and triangulation. Research instruments are observation sheets and interview guidelines. Instrument analysis uses content validity. The analysis used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that learning using the Realistic Mathematics Approach can improve student activity in mathematics learning in class VIII SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Prambanan 2015/2016 academic year. This is evident from the results of observations of student activities in learning each cycle has increased, namely the average percentage of observation of student activities in the first cycle of 50,623% which reached sufficient criteria, and in the second cycle increased to 61,960% which reached good criteria. The results of interviews with students showed a positive response to student learning activities.

Abstract

The lack of media and learning facilities, and the lack of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions, makes learning less exciting and monotonous. This study aims to develop e-modules based on HOTS questions with Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) learning models and determine the quality of e-modules developed. This study refers to the ADDIE model with Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. This study's subjects were teachers and 7th-grade students of Junior High School (SMP) Muhammadiyah Ngemplak and SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak. This study's object is an e-module based on HOTS questions with STAD learning models on algebraic form material. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire assessment by material experts, media experts, and students. Data analysis techniques in the form of qualitative descriptive analysis and quantitative descriptive. The results showed that material experts in the aspects of conformity, completeness, convenience, and clarity received values of 86%, 80%, 87%, and 88%, respectively. The media experts in effectiveness, ease, suitability, completeness, and communicative and interactive scores were 93%, 93%, 92%, 90%, and 92%. The average results of student responses from the two schools on convenience, clarity, suitability, appearance, attractiveness are 90%, 90%, 90%, 94%, and 92%. So it can be concluded that the e-module produced is classified both in terms of material, very good in terms of media, and very practical in its use.

Abstract

Limitation of learning resources is one factor that makes students difficult to understand a subject matter. One of the teaching materials that can help students' learning activities is modules. This study aims to develop the mathematics module that uses the contextual approach in sub-material the counting rules, permutations and combinations through think pair share strategies and to determine the appropriateness of the modules developed. The development procedure is adopted from the research and development that developed by Borg and Gall in Sugiyono (2014) including the step of identifying the potential and problems, collecting information, product designing, validation of product design, revising the product design, the pilot phase of products and product revision. Mathematics module developed based on the principals of contextual approach on Muslich, Mansur (2008). These products have been through the steps of revision based on advice and suggestions of media and subject matter experts as well as students' response to the module. The results showed from validations criteria and students' responses to the module. Based on an assessment by subject matter experts obtained an average score of 84 which satisfies good criteria, media experts obtained an average score of 93 which satisfies good criteria and results of students' response to the module also satisfy good criteria with an average score that is 110,21. These results mean the mathematics module is appropriate to use in the learning of mathematics.

Abstract

Monotonous and teacher-centered learning makes students passive and lacks the courage to express opinions in teaching and learning activities. Therefore, an appropriate model is needed to encourage student activeness, which is with model-eliciting activities. This study aims to determine whether there is a difference between learning by using model-eliciting activities and traditional class models. This model is more effective between the two models of the learning model on student learning outcomes. The population in this study consisted of class VII Muhammadiyah Junior High School Banguntapan (SMP Muhammadiyah Banguntapan), which consists of five classes. A sample of 2 classes with the number of 60 students was taken by purposive technique and obtained class VII C as the experimental class and class VII D as control class. The research instrument is a problem-solving test with data analysis using a two-part hypothesis test and a one-party hypothesis test. The results of a hypothesis test of the experimental class with a significant level of 5% and df=58 showed that: (1) There was a difference between students' problem-solving abilities using learning model eliciting activities with problem-solving skills of students learning using traditional class models and (2) eliciting activities model more effectively than traditional class models of problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Based on the author's observation, many students have difficulty in solving the story problem. This study aims to determine student errors and the causes of student error using the Polya method. Polya error analysis is a method used to analyze mistakes made by students with four stages. This research is qualitative research with a type of descriptive research. This research is the students of class VII-B State Junior High School (SMP N) 5 Banguntapan Bantul. The object of this research is the student's mistake in solving the problem based on Polya. Data collection techniques in this research are problem-solving and interview. According to Miles and Huberman, data analysis techniques using data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that the types of students' mistakes made by the research subjects on solving problem question of social arithmetic form were 50% misconceptions, 65% for made a settlement plan, 70% for executed a settlement plan, and reviewed the process and results by 65%. The most common mistake is at the stage for executed a settlement plan. Factors that cause errors are made because students are not careful in problem-solving.

Abstract

Students' mathematics learning outcomes who low are associated with several factors. Students learning interest, parental supervision, and students' perception of the learning environment at school are several factors that probably related to learning outcomes. The purpose of this research is to know whether existing or not a positive relationship and significant between students learning interest, parental supervision, and students perception to learning environment at school with students mathematics learning outcomes in class X TKR (Teknik Kendaraan Ringan) SMK Negeri 1 Seyegan, Sleman District in odd semester in academic year of 2016/2017. The population in this research was a student of class X TKR SMK Negeri 1 Seyegan, Sleman District in the odd semester in the academic year of 2016/2017 who consisting of class X of TKR 1, X of TKR 2, and X of TKR 3 with total 96 students. Sample taken class X of TKR 3 as a research class sample with random sampling to the class. Technique to collect the data uses the chief to obtain students learning interest, parental supervision, and students' perception of learning environment data at school, and a method of test to obtain data of mathematics learning outcomes. Research instruments test: validity test, different power test, and reliability test. The prerequisite analysis test include normality test, linearity test, and independence test. The data analysis use product moment analysis and multiple linear regression analysis to analyze the data. The research results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between students learning interest, parental supervision, and students perception to learning environment at school with students mathematics learning outcomes in class X TKR (Teknik Kendaraan Ringan) SMK Negeri 1 Seyegan, Sleman District in odd semester in the academic year of 2016/2017. This is shown by Fcount  Ftable is 19,448 > 2,95 with R= 0,8220 dan R2 = 0,6757 with , with SR = , SR =  and SR = 20,3337 , SE = , SE =  and SE = .

Abstract

This research is motivated by the absence of a mathematical learning module on the material of sequence numbers and series in school. This study aims to develop the module of mathematical learning on the material of the pattern of sequence number and series for class X students of Vocational High School (SMK), which is used as independent teaching materials of the students. This research using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model consisting of five main stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This study's subjects are material experts, media experts, and vocational school students in two schools: SMKN 1 Pleret and SMK Diponegoro Depok. The data collection method techniques using questionnaires. Simultaneously, the data analysis techniques using qualitative data are converted into quantitative data with a Likert scale. The research results showed that the development of mathematical learning modules included in good categories based on a questionnaire by a media expert with a score of 120. Average results by three material experts in excellent categories with a score of 86. The questionnaire responses of small class students obtained by 75,87 with very good categories and questionnaire responses of large class students were obtained by 74,87 with very good categories—the results based on the research that the mathematical learning module is proper to use in mathematics learning.
