Abstract

By an edge comb, we mean a graph formed by combining two graphs G and H, where each edge of graph G is replaced by the which one edge of graph H, denote by G D H. A vertex colored graph G D H = (V (G D H);E(G D H)) is said rainbow vertex-connected, if for every two vertices u and v in V (G D H), there is a u ???? v path with all internal vertices have distinct color. The rainbow vertex connection number of G D H, denoted by rvc(G D H) is the smallest number of color needed in order to make G D H rainbow vertex-connected. This research aims to find an exact value of the rainbow vertex connection number of exponential graph, namely rvc(G D H) when G D H are Pn D Btm, Sn D Btm, Ln D Btm, Fm;n D Btp, rvc(Pn D Sm), rvc(Cn D Sm), and rvc(Wn D Sm) Wn D Btm. The result shows that the resulting rainbow vertex connection attain the given lower bound.

Abstract

Abstract—Macrophages and B lymphocyte play an important role as the first cell type to encounter bacterial pathogen and as a mediator that initiate the adaptive immune response. Those types of cell can die in many ways such as apoptosis, necrosis, pyroptosis and autophagy during the host cell-pathogen recognition. This study aimed to investigate the ability of E. scaber and S. androgynus formula in regulating macrophage and B lymphocyte cells during bacterial infection. The pregnant mice were randomly divided into seven experimental groups: T1 (control), T2 (S. typhi infection), T3 (S. typhi, E. scaber 100%), T4 (S. typhi, E. scaber 75% and S. androgynus 25%), T5 (S. typhi, E. scaber 50% and S. androgynus 50%), T6 (S. typhi, E. scaber 25% and S. androgynus 75%), and T7 (S. typhi, S. androgynus 100%). Flowcytometry analysis was performed on day 18. S. typhi infection decrease the formation of macrophage and B lymphocyte cells in bone marrow and induce cell death in PBMC. We clearly proved that E. scaber 75% and S. androgynus 25% formula was able to ameliorate the formation of macrophage and B lymphocyte cells in BM. While E. scaber 25% and S. androgynus 75% formula increased the relative number of macrophage and B lymphocyte cells in PBMC.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is a major health problem in developed and developing countries and still be the first rank causing death in the world, including Indonesia. Most of cardiovascular disease caused by atherosclerosis. Macrophage apoptosis can reduce the size of atherogenic lesions and the progression of atherosclerotic plaque formation. Proapopstosis effects on macrophages owned by flavonoids. This study aims to know the potential of flavonoids found in Citrus grandis extract which works by suppressing the phosphorylation of AKT Ser473 so that the formation of foam cells (foam call) can be minimized. The research sample is 38 male Wistar rats weighing 90-150 grams. Samples were divided into 5 groups. All groups except normal control group were induced atherosclerosis by utilizing the shear stress mechanism at the branch of the abdominal aorta. Shear stress created by injecting adrenaline i.v. followed by hyperlipidemic diet (egg yolk) for 3 weeks. Then, during the next two weeks, the positive control group treated with simvastatin, while the treatment group were treated with extracts of C. grandis (ECG) known to contains flavonoids. Macroscopic showed that ECG could reduce atherosclerotic lesions. of citrus grandis. The sample data captured in the form of mouse blood and abdominal aortic tissues. Based on the results of the TLC screening, Ethanolic Extrxct Meanwhile, the group given simvastatin as a positive control also showed fewer atherosclerotic lesions. ECG proven to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels of rats that had been induced atherosclerosis. Award ECG doses of 500 and 1000 mg/kg showed a significant decrease in cholesterol (p <0.01) compared to the negative control group. ECG is proven to reduce atherosclerotic lesions, so that ECG can be used as an adjuvant for simvastatin to achieve maximal therapeutic effect against atherosclerosis.

Abstract

Tobacco farmers are at risk of developing occupational diseases associated with exposure to pesticides and absoption of wet tobacco leaves nicotine through the skin that is called Green Tobacco Sickness (GTS). In 2013 the result of the research showed that 66% of tobacco farmers had GTS symptom. And the continuing research at 2014 showed that 79,2% of tobacco farmer had cotinine degree on the blood was 13,64 mg/ml (more than normal standard) means at GTS symptom. Besides that, the result of observation by researcher showed that there were a lot of children was involved in tobacco plantation in Jember Regency. This research aimed to anayze the risk factor of GTS symptom at children on tobacco plantation, consist of : individual characteristic factors (age, gender, education, connection with the owner of tobacco plantation, period being tobacco farmer) and behaviour factors (knowledge, attitudes, and actions towards GTS), and environmental factors (Humidity, rainy, geographic condition, and irrigation). This study used an analytical approach with survey method and using cross-sectional design, to analyze the dinamic corelation between risk factors with the effects, with observation approach or collecting the data in point time approach. This study was conducted at 120 tobacco farmer from 2 districts in Jember regency which is a center of tobacco production in September to December 2014. Data was Collected by interview with quitionare and observation to the children that working in tobacco plantation. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistic. The results showed that there was 2,5% of children than involved in tobacco plantation. Most of them were male. They aged was 15-18 years old, graduated from elentary, junior and senior high school. The salary was less than one million in a month, and working in fobacco plantation more than 10 years and having smoking habit. They used save protection tools (glooves, long dress, eye protection) rarely. A few of them did not higiene personal after working in tobacco plantation. Although they ever got GTS symptom (nausea, dizzy, faint, difficul to breath, sleeping disturbance). It is needed a socialization in groups of tobacco farmers about the prohibition to involve children in tobacco plantation and the the prevention of GTS symptoms in children through behavioral approach by means of a shower and change clothes after working in the tobacco plantation, and the use of waterproof clothing, gloves and boots.

Abstract

Parallel plate capacitor is widely used as a sensor for many purposes. Researches which have used parallel plate capacitor were investigation of dielectric properties of soil in various temperature [1], characterization if cement’s dielectric [2], and measuring the dielectric constant of material in various thickness [3]. In the investigation the changing of dielectric constant, indirect method can be applied to get the dielectric constant number by measuring the voltage of input and output of the utilized circuit [4]. Oscilloscope is able to measure the voltage value although the common tool for that measurement is voltmeter. This research aims to investigate the accuracy of voltage measurement by using oscilloscope and voltmeter which leads to the accuracy of values of dielectric constant. The experiment is carried out by an electric circuit consisting of ceramic capacitor and sensor of parallel plate capacitor, function generator as a current source, oscilloscope, and voltmeters. Sensor of parallel plate capacitor is filled up with cooking oil in various concentrations, and the output voltage of the circuit is measured by using oscilloscope and also voltmeter as well. The resulted voltage values are then applied to the equation to get dielectric constant values. Finally the plot is made for dielectric constant values along the changing of cooking oil concentration. The results show that the plot of dielectric constant values which are gained from the voltage measurement using voltmeter have better linearity compare to the other plot in which the voltage measurement utilize the oscilloscope. In conclusion, voltmeter is considered better equipment to measure a voltage compare to the oscilloscope in term of getting dielectric constant values of parallel plate capacitance sensor.

Abstract

Hard water is the mineral content in the water such as calcium and magnesium which have a negative impact of these minerals in the kidney. The hardness level can be lowered through the principle of ion exchange. Zeolite has been known as a good adsorbent to be used as an ion exchanger. However, natural zeolites can‘t be modified. Therefore, it is made of synthetic zeolites using pumice as a substitute for silica from Ijobalit, East Lombok (0-30 masl) and Karang Sidemen, Central Lombok (500-1000 masl). This study used other variations of the level of grain size of pumice, which is 60 mesh and 80 mesh. With BET, pore size pumice from the first location is 3,2 nm. While the pore size pumice from the second location is 3,207 nm. Pumice mixed into a solution of sodium hydroxide to form sodium silicate. Meanwhile, Al (OH)3 was mixed into a solution of sodium hydroxide to form sodium aluminate. Then sodium silicate and sodium aluminate is mixed with stirring for 1 hour and temperature of 160ºC. Electrical conductivity test showed that the smaller grain size pumice produce the greater conductivity. The conductivity value  of 1A80, 1A60, 3A80, and 3A60, respectively was 96.9 mS/cm, 248 mS/cm, 335 mS/cm and 205 mS/cm. 3A80 synthetic zeolites potentially has the ability in ion exchange to reduce the level of water hardness.
