Abstract

Optimization problems are the most interesting problems to discuss in mathematics. Optimization is used to modeling problems in various field to achieve the effectiveness and efficiency of the desired target. One of the optimization problems that are often encountered in everyday life is the selection and packaging of items with limited media or knapsack to get maximum profit. This problem is well-known as knapsack problem. There are various types of knapsack problems, one of them is quadratic bounded knapsack problem. In this paper, the authors proposed a new modified algorithm, which is Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) added with Iterated Local Search (ILS)-based Replacement mechanism. Furthermore, the implementation of the proposed algorithm, MFPA, is compared to the original FPA. Based on the results of this study, the proposed MFPA performs better and produces the best solution than the original algorithm on all data used. The advantage obtained by the MFPA algorithm is better and in accordance with the knapsack capacity. In addition, although the computational of the MFPA takes longer time than FPA with the same number of iterations, MFPA is able to find better solutions faster and able to escape from the local optimum. Keywords: Flower Pollination Algorithm, Iterated Local Search, Knapsack, Optimization, Quadratic Bounded Knapsack.

Abstract

The author would like to convey about the history of mathematics in China, what were the discoveries of the Chinese at this time for the society centered there, Legend states that this emperor ordered the burning of all books from the previous period to suppress dissent, but there are several reasons to doubt that this actually done This work, called the Suan shu shu (Book of Numbers and Calculations), is the earliest surviving Chinese text on mathematics. Like much of his later work, it consists of problems and their solutions, some of them: which we will consider below. An incomplete version of this set exists from the Song dynasty, printed in 1213, and a more complete version from the Ming dynasty, printed in 1403-1407. Exam systems often require reading the relevant sections of math texts, as well as solving problems in the same way as those described in these texts. This article is written with the study of literature with the aim of knowing the history of mathematics in China and its writing. Keywords: China, history, mathematics

Abstract

Data mining is the extraction of new and useful information from large data sets that helps in the decision-making process. Clustering is a technique of grouping data that has similar characteristics into the same cluster. Generally, the Clustering process is used for numeric or categorical data. The K-Means algorithm is one of the algorithms that can be used for numeric type data. The stage carried out in the K-Means algorithm is to divide n observations into k clusters so that each observation is included in the cluster with the closest average (centroid), but K-Means still has a weakness in determining the number of clusters. This must be determined specifically by the user. To overcome the weakness of K-Means, the X-Means algorithm was developed by Dan Pelleg and Andre Moore. In X-Means, the value of k is estimated by inputting a range of clusters based on the dataset itself, so that no specific determination of the number of clusters is needed. The purpose of this study is to examine the X-Means algorithm. The results showed that the division of clusters in the X-Means algorithm used the Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) value. In the X-Means algorithm, inputting a range of clusters for the number of clusters can make the clustering process more efficient. Keywords: Clustering, K-Means, numeric data, X-Means.

Abstract

This study considers about the magnetohydrodynamics of micropolar fluids in the boundary layer passing through a flat plate which is affected by mixed convection. The governing equations are obtained from the continuity, momentum, energy equations, and Maxwell’s equation. The micropolar fluid passes through the flat plate, flowing from the below. The obtained dimensional equations are then transformed into non-dimensional equations using non-dimensional variables, then transformed into similarity equations. The similarity equations can be introduced using stream functions, that produce non-linear partial differential equations. The equations are then solved by Keller-Box method. The numerical results obtained are in the form of temperature and fluid velocity profiles with variations in magnetic parameters, micropolar parameters, porosity parameters and Prandtl numbers. The numerical simulation results show that the greater the magnetic parameter (), the micropolar parameter () and the porosity parameter (), respectively, then the speed decreases but the temperature increases. However, the variation of the Prandtl numbers () does not affect the speed. The greater the Prandtl number, the lower the temperature. Abstract

Assessment models that ignore the ability of individual variations to cause the information received will not be optimal. The computerized adaptive testing (CAT) model can overcome this weakness because the items that appear with the difficulty level will adjust to the test taker's ability. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of the CAT model when used as an assessment model in school achievement tests. The research methodology is comparative quantitative. This study uses population data from the answers of students who took part in the UNBK in the province of the Special Capital Region (DKI) Jakarta in 2019 with mathematics as a subject. The results of this study show that the number of items selected by the CAT model is less than the CBT model, and the things adjust to the level of ability of the traveler, have a small measurement error value, and are almost the same as the CBT model. Therefore, the CAT model is more efficient in terms of time because the number of questions is less than the CBT model. It is more effective because it adapts to the participants' abilities and has the same accuracy as the CBT model. Abstract

This research was motivated by observations made by researchers. Students had difficulty memorizing the formula for the sum and difference of two trigonometric angles. And the use of textbooks is less attractive for students to read. Therefore, the researchers developed Prezi-based learning media to solve these problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the steps for developing Prezi-based learning media and to determine student responses to the use of Prezi-based learning media on the formula for the sum and difference of two trigonometric angles for class XI SMA during the learning process. This study uses the ADDIE model's research and development (R&D) methods (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate). The subjects of this study were students of class XI. They collected data by distributing questionnaires for student responses to the limited and expansion tests. Based on the research objectives with the stages of the ADDIE development model, it has been obtained based on learning media. And student responses based on the results of the limited test and the expansion test received relatively good and reasonable answers. Keywords: Development of learning media, Prezi, Trigonometry

Abstract

A cake stand is a place for serving cakes to beautify the cake display. The cake stand consists of three parts: the base, the support, and the plate. This study developed a multilevel cake stand model by combining several geometric objects using the deformation method. Modeling the cake stands is divided into two stages. The first is to model the components of a cake stand by combining several geometric objects and Bezier curves. The geometric items used are tubes, rectangular prisms, and hexagonal prisms. Bezier curves used are curves of degrees two, three, four, and five. Second, combining the modeling results of each component of the cake stand on two types of cake stand modeling axes, namely one axis and three axes. This study produces 10,584 cake stand models on one modeling axis and three modeling axes. The cake stand model acquired can be visualized utilize Maple 18 software support on a computer. Abstract

The research was motivated by the results of the researchers' observations, namely the lack of student creativity in finding solutions to a problem due to the use of learning models that emphasize more on aspects of knowledge so that students' creative thinking skills are still lacking. Based on this background, the researchers applied the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model where students were given the freedom to find new things in problem solving so that they could improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills. The research uses 3 indicators of creative thinking ability, namely fluency, flexibility, novelty. The research method used is a quantitative method with an experimental design of One-Group Pretest Posttest Design. The research sample was taken using Probability Sampling, the research data were obtained from the students' pretest posttest. Data analysis used descriptive statistics in the form of tables and diagrams. From the research results, each indicator has increased, namely the fluency indicator 45 percent, flexibility 40 percent, novelty 18 percent. Based on the increase in each indicator of creative thinking ability, it can be concluded that the use of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model in SPLTV learning can improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills in problem solving. Abstract

All transactions are inseparable from the role of the ATM as a supporter the business entity financial improvement. Therefore, the existence of an ATM has now become a general need of modern society. Currently, the population of Jember Regency is 2,568.88 people, and 10 ATM have been established, which means the population ratio and the number of ATM are not balanced, so it is necessary to make a data grouping in order to obtain the location of the ATM establishment that can reach the surrounding villages. This research examined the K-Means Clustering method in the case of determining the location of an ATM based on the distance from the center of the crowd. Calculation of distance using Google Maps K-Means Clustering algorithm was used to group 40 data points for the center of each village into 6 clusters. This research assumed that the centroid is the location of the ATM establishment and the cluster members were the village that can be reached by the centroid. The results of C1-C6 grouping were Tanjung Market, Pakusari Market, MTSN 2 Jember, KUA Arjasa, SMPN 3 Arjasa, and SMAN 4 Jember, sequentially. Keywords: ATM Location, Euclid Distance, K-Means Clustering
