Abstract

This research focused on structural variables that could be controlled by the company and environment variables that could not be controlled by the company. These two variables could influence the creation of job satisfaction by hotel employees in Surabaya. This research was associative causal research using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) as a statistical tool with SmartPLS 2.0 as the statistical software. This research used the non-probability method with convenience sampling technique with employees from four and five star hotels in Surabaya as the population. The total sample was 100 respondents. This research was conducted from November 2018 to January 2019. The results of this study show that structural variables have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. Meanwhile, environment variables have a negative and significant effect on job satisfaction.

Abstract

The research objective was to analyze the determninant factors of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) in the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) of the traditional food centers in Bandung. It used the EO dimension at the organizational level. Five dimensions were used to measure the EO level, namely risk-taking, innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, proactiveness, and autonomy. The questionare’s was distributed to eight MSEs in Bandung. The sample size is 100 employee Structural Equation Model (SEM) analysis techniques with Partial Least Square (PLS) was used to test the samples. This research shows that the EO level in the micro and small enterprises in the traditional food centers in Bandung is at a moderate level. Although EO of MSEs in the traditional food centers in Bandung is in the moderate category, the results of testing on the EO model find out that each EO dimension forms a significant EO construct. The four dominant and recommended dimensions forming an EO construct in MSEs are risk-taking, innovativeness, competitive aggressiveness, and proactiveness. Among the four dimensions, risk-taking is the dominant dimension. It indicates that courage in taking risks in MSEs is a natural characteristic of the EO in the traditional food centers in Bandung.

Abstract

The research aimed to provide the solutions for the method of selecting product development strategies based on competitive advantage criteria including Quality, Cost, Delivery, Service, and Morale (QCDSM). The research was done in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Ikat woven fabric in which the collecting data used questionnaires for the customers. The questionnaire was regarding the criteria for competitive advantage for MSMEs of Ikat woven fabric in Kediri. The analysis methods applied Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) based on the criteria of competitive advantage. The results show that the MSMEs of Ikat woven fabric should replace plastic materials into recyclable materials, ensure that raw materials do not contain dangerous and poisonous materials, choose coloring materials that do not contain dangerous and poisonous materials, choose the third parties to deliver products, weigh dye materials according to their composition and measurement, and utilize domestic raw materials.

Abstract

This research examined determinant factors of good governance of a village government office in Sidoarjo. This research used a survey and a cross-section through a questionnaire as the data collection. The unit of analysis was the citizen who worked as a state civil apparatus and had used public services in a village government office. To determine the sample, the researchers used a simple random sampling. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results show that the rule of law and responsiveness are dominant indicators to form good governance. However, transparency and good commitment are less dominant indicators in forming good governance. The practical implications of this research are useful for the local government as they need to increase the role of good governance in improving public service performance, especially for village service.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine the influence of attitude in accounting students to the intention to choose an accounting career. It was through the intention to increase current knowledge as an intervening variable. This research used a survey online method to test the research model, which was responded by a total of 503 accounting students across Java. Data analysis and hypothesis testing used partial least square as part of the structural equation model technique. According to their ages, the respondents were famous as the millennial generation in this era. The results of this research are in accordance with the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). It is proven that attitudes have a positive and significant influence on the intentions of accounting students in terms of increasing current knowledge and choosing accounting careers. This research also supports the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT). There is evidence that educational background and learning experience can increase the intention of accounting students to pursue careers in accounting. The existence of different generations leads to different perceptions of students regarding accounting careers. Therefore, further research is needed to identify these differences. The results also suggest that accounting educators need to update their curriculum by adapting the current development and demands of graduates. Last, the rapid development of technology has had a significant influence on the accounting profession.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the determinants of automobile sales in Indonesia. The automobile sales were the sales of car and motorcycle during 1986-2016. The research focused on five macroeconomics variables (exchange rate, Gross Domestic Product (GDP), growth of GDP, inflation, and interest rate). The total sample was 30 years of automobile sales in Indonesia. The researcher used the regression method with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) to test the research model. For a few variables, lag t-1 was used. The empirical results show that GDP and the growth of GDP have a significant influence on both car and motorcycle sales in Indonesia. The growth of GDP reaches a significant level at α < 1%. However, the exchange rate of USD to IDR, inflation, and interest rate do not influence automobile sales in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the risks influenced the field of business for social enterprises, and how these risks affected the aspects of social enterprise. This research used a qualitative research approach. The data analyzed in this research were the results of questionnaires and interviews with 17 informants from the vegetarian restaurants in Batam. The results of the questionnaire were processed using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) as analytical tools. This research used descriptive statistical analysis techniques as a data analysis. The results show that the risks examined in this research influence financial losses, image, growth, and quality of the organization. The intention and behavior risk has the highest effect, while financial risk is the lowest.

Abstract

The research explored implementation of green accounting that was taken from the green accounting concept containing quantitative and qualitative information reported by the company. The observation period of this research was three years from 2014 to 2016. The object of this research was the mining and energy companies registered in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) database in Indonesia. The data used were secondary data obtained from sustainability reporting with the GRI-G4 report type. Data analysis was using panel data regression with a random effect model approach. The results show that the implementation of green accounting in the form of recycled materials, renewable energy, and green cost allocation has a positive and significant effect on improving environmental performance. Conversely, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund allocations do not affect environmental performance.

Abstract

This research analyzed the relationship between leadership style, Human Resources (HR) practices, and organizational culture on employee performance in PT Kansai Prakarsa Coatings in Indonesia. This research was expected to find the information related to what factors greatly affected employee performance and be an input for foreign paint manufacture to set up paint companies in Indonesia. The sample was 230 from 650 employees, chosen by stratified random sampling from each division to get a representing answer. The used analysis model was descriptive and path analysis. The result shows that there is a negative significant between leadership style and organizational culture to employee performance. On the other hand, there is a significant positive relationship between HR practices and employee performance.

Abstract

This reseach analyzed factors that correlated with employee engagement in a higher education institution. The object of this research was the lecturers and employees with the total of 100 people. There were measured on how to produce academic quality accompanied by excellent service to students. Dimensions used were compensation, leadership and organizational planning, culture and corporate communication, job environment, supervisory relationships, employee satisfaction and training, development, and resources. The process of collecting data was through the questionnaires. The research method used Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). In the results, all dimensions used have a significant influence on employee engagement because of p-values <0,05 and t-tables > t-statistics. The supervisor relationship dimension has the highest correlation of 66,5%, and employee satisfaction has the lowest correlation of 13,8%. Higher education institutions must increase employee engagement to maintain productivity and performance. Employee engagement is one of the keys to the success of educational institutions to produce exceptional academic quality and services for the entire academic community.
