Abstract

The quality of education can be improved by developing learning methods, curriculum development, and learning media development. One of them is learning media in the form of comics. This research aims to develop physics comics and analyze the validity of learning media of physics comics on the historical material of atomic development.  The research was conducted using the R&D research model (Research and Development) with the 4-D model (Define-Design-Develop-Disseminate). Based on the stages, obtained learning media products that were declared eligible after validation by two high school physics teachers and an expert lecturer gained the average validity in the media component of 90.0%, the display of 89.2%, the material by 90.7%, and the language by 95.4%. In general, the student's responses to the use of physical comic learning media include comic physics can increase motivation in learning (88.6%), students prefer that physics learning uses comic media (88.9%), through comic media, students are introduced to atomic inventors (88.9%), and physics comics can help to understand the historical material of atomic development (83.3%). Based on the study results, learning media of physics comics on the historical material of atomic development deserves to be used in physics. The implication of this study can help other researchers as a reference related to the development of comic physics learning media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze whether student discipline affects physics learning outcomes in physics subjects at SMAN 8 Jambi City. The population in this study were all students of class X at SMAN 8 Jambi City. The sample of this study was students of class X IPA 1, X IPA 2, X IPA 3, totalling 79 students at SMAN 8 Jambi City. The regression test results stated that there was an influence between students' disciplined attitudes towards physics learning outcomes by 65%, while the remaining 35% was influenced by variables other than the variables studied. Based on the research results above, it can be concluded that there is a positive influence between learning disciplines on physics learning outcomes. Students who have a good discipline attitude will also experience an increase in obedience and perseverance in learning so that it has a good impact on learning outcomes. Vice versa, if students do not have a good learning discipline attitude, it will make students disorganized in the learning process and cause student learning outcomes to be not good.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials of comics based on local wisdom of Sriwijaya country on wave material in class VIII SMPN 15 Palembang. The research method used was Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE model. The study was only until the stage of Analysis, Design, and Development (ADD). The subject of this research was conducted at SMPN 15 Palembang by involving 11 students of class VIII. This research consists of 3 stages, namely the analysis stage, the design stage, and the development stage. The implementation and evaluation stages were not carried out due to limited research time. Data analysis of student needs was measured through observation activities. The questionnaire was used to determine the feasibility of teaching material products based on expert validation and student responses. This prototype was then validated by construct and content experts from Raden Fatah State Islamic University Palembang and PGRI Palembang University. The results showed that the teaching material product was feasible based on expert validation with the category (80% - 89%) valid and supported by student responses with the category (75.1% - 100%) very practical. Due to time constraints, the problem of productive teaching materials for the implementation and evaluation stages was not carried out. Therefore, this research can be developed or continued in further research that has been studied on the limitation of the problem. It is hoped that researchers can develop this research according to the study of the ADDIE research model until the implementation and evaluation stages are completed.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the validity of comic-based module andro-web on the subject of an ideal gas and increased capacity problem-solving physics students after using comic-based module andro-web on the subject an ideal gas. The research uses the design nieveen model of development. In the assessment phase, the module then tried out on 30 grade XI science 2 Jenggawah Senior High School. The instruments of product quality are an instrument validation and instrument increased capacity problem solving of physics students about pre-test and post-test completed by using 5 indicators problem-solving. The average score validation comic-based module andro-web by validator 81,7 % with valid category. The score validation by user validator obtained score 93,3 % with a very valid category. Besides, increased capacity problem-solving physics students a score was obtained for 47,3 % in by test n-gain medium category. Thus, it was stated that comic-based module andro-web can be used in teaching material XI science class and will raise the ability problem-solving physics students on the subject of an ideal gas.

Abstract

This literature study aims to obtain the thinking process profile of senior high school students in physics problem-solving based on differences in emotional intelligence levels and gender. In this study used literature study method with phenomenological analysis, functionalism analysis, and critical analysis. The sources used to compile this article include some literature on emotional intelligence, gender effect, thinking process, problem-solving, and several empirical study on students in physics problem-solving, especially in senior high school. The authors summed up the conclusions based on the results of the literature study as follows: (1) The profile of the thinking process is influenced by emotional intelligence level and gender; (2) Emotional intelligence is directly proportional to the thinking process of students in the process of solving physics problems; (3) Students who have high emotional intelligence are more likely to have high physics problem-solving skills; (4) Gender differences (male and female) in solving physics problems, generally, are still debatable, in which sense is it better? Then it further research needs that is valid and reliable to answer this question. (5) There is a strong tendency that the male gender is more resilient in dealing with and solving complex physics problems; (6) The gender of female students is superior in solving physics problems that require very high detail. The main implication of this article is to obtain the thinking process profile of senior high school students in physics problem-solving based on terms of differences in emotional intelligence levels and gender.

Abstract

Perangkat pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran di sekolah dinilai masih kurang layak. Hal ini berpengaruh kepada rendahnya kecerdasan logis matematis dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Untuk itu dilakukan pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model direct instruction yang memiliki tujuan khusus: (1) Mendeskripsikan validitas perangkat pembelajaran, (2) Mendeskripsikan kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran ditinjau dari keterlaksanaan RPP, dan (3) Mendeskripsikan efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran ditinjau dari hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan yang mengacu pada model pengembangan Dick and Carey. Instrumen yang dikembangkan berupa RPP, LKS, THB dan Materi ajar. Teknik analisis data berupa validasi perangkat pembelajaran, pengamatan keterlaksanaan RPP dan tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) Perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dinyatakan valid dengan katagori sangat baik (2) Kepraktisan perangkat pembelajaran dinilai terlaksana sangat baik, dan (3) Efektivitas perangkat pembelajaran berkategori tinggi. Diperoleh simpulan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran menggunakan model direct instruction berorientasi kecerdasan logis matematis yang dikembangkan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran.

Abstract

Scientific learning is difficult to be applied in an ideal way because of the lack of learning time. One of the solutions to overcome it is by using blended learning that integrated into problem-based learning. This study aims to comprehend the effectivity of problem-based online learning (PBOL) to improve learning outcomes, and it’s efficiency to reduce the time of face to face learning. The used media was WhatsApp because of its simplicity, and the students have been familiar with it. The seventy students of the 10th grade of SMAN 1 Kelua were being sampled in this study based on a saturation sampling technique and divided into three classes. This was a quasi-experimental study with single factor multiple-treatment design. The premier data of this study were learning outcomes and the total time of learning in the class. The data of learning outcomes were obtained by test and be analyzed by one-way ANOVA to detect the effect of PBOL on the learning outcomes. The data of learning time were gained by observation and documentation and be analyzed in a descriptive way to know the efficiency of PBOL. The analyzed result showed sig. value is 0.04, that is means PBOL, and PBL produces learning outcomes which have significantly different from conventional learning. On the other side, even the learning outcomes of PBOL is equal as learning outcomes of PBL, and it’s learning time is fewer than the PBL’s. From both of the facts, we can conclude that the PBOL assisted by WhatsApp is effective in enhancing learning outcomes and more efficient to be used.

Abstract

The rapid progress of science and technology is marked by easy access to education quickly. Skills that are needed today are often called 21st-century skills. 21st-century skills have become a necessity for students to continue their careers in the future. Physics is one of the lessons that are very close to nature. This research aims to show the influence of the use of physics teaching materials on the 21st-century skills of students is seen from the level of education, learning materials, and student learning outcomes. This research is a literature study of 16 articles on the description of Effect Size in educational studies. Overall, the effect size of the use of teaching materials on physics learning is 3.7. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a strong influence in the use of physics teaching materials on the 21st-century skills of students seen from the level of education, learning materials, and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

There have been many developments in digital books, but they are different from BDF-AR2 (Physics Digital Book Based Augmented Reality), this is because the developed BDF-AR2 has features that can train the literacy skills of learners including Augmented Reality (AR) feature so that learning can be more real.  The main objective of this research is to describe eligibility (validity, practicality, and effectiveness) of BDF-AR2 media that has been developed This research employed Hannafin & Peck Model development design using by using instruments of media validation, learning completion and validated test instrument. Media validation was carried out by three media experts and resulted in the media B D F-AR 2 (Physics Digital Book Based Augmented Reality) on the global warming material is classified as very valid (93.5%). As for practicality (use BDF-AR2 media in learning) is obtained 83.29% and categorized very good. While for effectiveness (students' scientific literacy skills), it was found that students' scientific literacy skills for 36.67% of students are in a good category, 56.67% of student have an average level and 6.96% of students had poor category for literacy competence science in explaining the phenomenon. As for scientific literacy competencies in interpreting data and evidence scientifically, 30% students have good grades, 66.67% had a fair grade and 3.33 had a poor grade. Referring to the results of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of use BDF-AR2 in learning, it can be concluded that the developed BDF-AR2 is feasible to use in learning. The implication of this research is to present a media that supports 21st-century learning that has been proclaimed by the government.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze research trends related to PjBL-STEM topics in 2016-2020 through bibliometric analysis with the Scopus database. Based on the criteria, it obtained 1,169 documents. Microsoft Excel was used to analyze data and VOS viewer as a data visualization. The results showed that PjBL-STEM research is increasing every year. The USA contributes the most research in the world, Indonesia ranks second. Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Sebelas Maret, and Universitas Negeri Semarang are among the top affiliates in PjBL-STEM research in the world. Visualizing the trend of PjBL-STEM research in 2016-2020, there are three clusters, namely 1.) PjBL-STEM as a framework, 2.) PjBL-STEM as self-development, and 3.) Effects of PjBL-STEM research. The results of this study can help researchers related to PjBL-STEM research trends in the world and provide direction in further research.
