Abstract

The combustion process is one of the alternative methods of processing waste are effectively used in the processing of household organic waste. In this study used a continuous combustion incinerator system, with a flow rate of garbage 10 kg / h and a water content of 15% by the air blast rate of 1,5 - 2,5 liters / sec. Heat of combustion is used to heat water in a boiler that is monitored / measured temperature and vapor pressure. This study aimed to obtain characterization Heating (temperature vs. time) and the potential energy that can be used to heat water in a kettle containing 5 liters of water with warming from the burning of household organic waste experimentally. Based on visual observation and temperature measurement, combustion of household organic waste can produce a continuous burning about 30 minutes, and the temperature between 350-400oC on the outer side walls of the boiler / closest to the combustion chamber, the water in the kettle boiling (100 ° C) after about 25 minutes, from the observed data can be calculated energy that can be utilized for heating is from about 5000 KJ of energy generated from waste incineration, 2000 to 3000 KJ can be used for heating water in a 5 liter boiler. Abstract

There are some method to design flexible pavement, two of them are Bina Marga Component Analysis and NCSA method. Both of these methods really have difference. Thus, writer was interested to have a research. The aim of this research is compare both of them on the depth of pavement design.On this paper both of this method used to design Trisakti–Liang Anggang trip by A. Yani higway.On this study, NCSA method resulted  D1 = 5 cm, D2 = 10 cm, D3 = 17,5 cm and Bina Marga Component Analysis method resulted  D1 =  5 cm, D2 = 10 cm,  D3 = 27 cm.

Abstract

Nurse have an important role that influencing performance and quality of service user at hospital. Therefore,  hospital management needed to create a good schedule so that user (patient) in the hospital can get good service also. At this research, what studied is how to develop a computerized nurse-scheduling model that implemented a genetic algorithm method. Making model is accounts to some objectives and policies at Islamic Hospital of Banjarmasin.By using software of Delphi XE2 to developing model, then some experiments used to test the model and giving result that a computerized nurse scheduling with a genetic algorithm method is more effiecient and effectivethan manual made-schedules. Keywords: Nurse scheduling, Genetic algorithm

Abstract

Plastics are used to make a variety of products for example for tableware, kitchen utensils, farm equipment, bathroom equipment, toys and so on can be replaced with plastic material. The advantages of this plastic material are resistant to corrosion, its density is low enough to float, resilient and strong enough, the thermoplastic type plastic material is mostly softened at sufficiently low temperatures, has an attractive appearance and can be colored if needed.This research was conducted on plastic detergent scraper product with size ɸ64 x 40,5 mm with injection molding system using statistical quality control method and statistical process control such as control chart, pareto diagram, and fishbone used to identify and analyze product defect type and the factors that are the main cause and improvement effort so that the number of defective products can be minimized and product quality can be improved.From the research result, it was found that the optimum temperature and pressure were 200ºC and pressure 30 Bar. Where the main factor affecting the defect production of detergent scraper product of plastic with size × 64 x 40.5 mm with injection molding system is the setting of temperature and pressure must be appropriate and optimal.

Abstract

Eco architecture is the recently major issue especially related with global warming. Eco architecture has five element, they are land use, water treatment, vegetation, building, and transportation.Siliran Lor is one of the district in the inner part of the fort ofYogyakartapalace that make it has uniqe location, it also has good achievment as the winner of  the orderliness environment competition. The important reason why this area choosed as the research case is because it has leafy vegetation. Vegetation as one of the eco architecture’s element is the focus analysis in this research.  The result of this research hoped will give a good input in district planning and design that concern with the environment.The research in Siliran Lor indicate that it has variation in vegetation, with many functions and meanings. Some of the vegetations still have the simbolic meaning of they use, but most of them not.

Abstract

Growth in residential area in Banjarbaru, South Borneo, Indonesia, is significantly reduce the water catchments area. This leads to surface runoff occurs during the monsoon season which ultimately has the potential to cause flooding. One of the effective solutions to solve this problem is by making infiltration well in the residential area. This research was conducted to analyze the design of the infiltration well in the residential area, especially in Banjarbaru. To facilitate the research works, the residential area of Lambung Mangkurat University’s lecturer in Banjarbaru, South Borneo was chosen. As for the hydrology and soil Data of the research works area was taken from the community service report of the lecturer team of the Faculty of Engineering Unlam Banjarbaru. The results shows that the ideal dimension for the infiltration well in Banjarbaru is by using the radius of the well (R) of 1.25 m. With the R of 1.25 will give a significant recharge to the groundwater. This R will give the equal recharge to the groundwater for infiltration wells with a flat bottom and lower soil layer porous and upper soil layer impermeable, infiltration wells with impermeable wall, and infiltration wells with porous wall. Keywords: Infiltration well, radius of infiltration well, groundwater reservation

Abstract

In the cutting process on the tirning machine the shape of chips generatedvaries among long chip (continuous chip) and a dashed chip, chip shape isinfluenced by the geometry of the tool including chip breaker radius appliedcutting tool, and the radius of the breaker chip thought to have an influence onworkpiece surface roughness and tools durabulity. The influence of the radius ofthis chip breaker needs to be analyzed for how it effect the value of the surfaceroughness. The goal of my research is to find the optimal surface roughness isgenerated by certain radius enabling have to be used for guidance for thetoolmaker in turning machine in metal manufakturing. The conclusion from thisstudy is the difference in roughness significant value to the amount of burr givenradius breaker.

Abstract

Clay is kind of soil with fine grained that has low bearing capacity. Preloading cause change to water content and void ratio, result consolidation process. Consolidation on the clay cause big problem to the construction, that's why improvement characteristic of the clay is needed.The objective of this study is to know how much increasing undrain shear strength (Cu) to the clay consolidation degree as a part of effort to improvement the soil.  In this experiment, Consolidation Test is preformed, the preloading to object test with consolidation degree at 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 70%, and 90%, and Unconfined Compression Test (UCT) as the last test on this experiment.The result of this study is a undrain shear strength equation (∆Cu)= -2.10-10U5-2.108U4+7.10-8U3+1.10-5U2+0,0015U-0,0008 for Penggalaman’s clay soil, as a reference to clay soil improvement.

Abstract

Cassava is one of several main provisions substitutes in Indonesia. It is known to be the third consumed provisions after rice and corn. The spreading of cassava plant is in all over Provinces of Indonesia. In the regency of Hulu Sungai Selatan in the Province of South Kalimantan cassava is processed to become cassava chips and thereby supports the local economic development. Unfortunately there is a lack of technology for the efficient cassava slicing machine, since the used tools are still very simple. The purposes of this research are to design and to build an efficient cassava slicing machine and also recognizing the influence of the pulley size to the slicing speed and to the sliced cassava.The preparation to invent the cassava slicing machine consists of designing and selection of its components, such as motor, axis, pulley, anvil and other supporting equipments. After the designing process the assembling of the slicing machine is executed. Right after the assembling process the performance of the slicing machine is tested by changing the rotation of slicing disc axis constantly in order to gain great quantities of qualified sliced cassavas with less waste.The result of this research and the analyzing process shows that the performance of the designed slicing machine can be optimal by using 8 inches pulley. The slicing of one stem produces 861 sliced cassavas, 645 of them are qualified and 217 are broken, in average time of 35,67 seconds. By slicing two stems at the same time produces 1.413 sliced cassavas, consist of 857 qualified and 556 broken sliced cassavas, in the average time of 45,67 seconds. The comparison for the invented slicing machine is the simple slicing machine, which is used in South Kalimantan nowadays. The simple machine slices 546 sliced cassavas from one stem, 461 of them are qualified and 85 sliced cassavas are broken, in the time of 2 minutes. The comparison shows that the new invented machine is more efficient than the used old one.  Moreover the invented cassava slicing machine has the advantages of high slicing speed, clean sliced cassava and high safety.

Abstract

One of the problems faced by motor vehicle users is the frequent theft and loss of motorbikes. The purpose of the study was to design a finger with the aim of increasing the safety of motorvehicles. The method use in the research is the research method used with the case study approach method which is the innovation of making motorcycle vehicle safety devices that will function as a log out so that motorized vehicles cannot run if they do not use the ignition key of the motor vehicle owner. The expect results of this study are the availability of motor vehicles safety devices so that the potential loss of motorvehicles can be reduce. The results of this study are expect to be useful for the benefit of many people and can be develoveas industrial innovation
