Abstract

This research entitled “Social Criticism in Aud Kelor Short Story Collection by Carma Citrawati Analysis of Literary Sociology”. There are three short stories that were studied, namely the short stories entitled Wayan Kelor, Siaappp Presiden, and Keneh Pasih. The three short stories were analyzed by structural theory from Nurgiyantoro and sosiology of literature from Wellek and Warren. This research aims to describe the narative structure, the author’s background, and social criticism contained in the three short stories. Methods and techniques used in this study was divided into three stages. The stages of methods and data collection techniques used two methods, namely the simak and record technique. The stages of methods and data analysis techniques using qualitative methods supported by analytic descriptive techniques. Methods and techniques for presenting the results of data analysis using informal methods are supported by inductive techniques and deductive techniques. The result from this research is structure narative from the three short stories, namely: incidents, plot, characters and characterizations, settings, themes, and moral value of the stories. The second research result is an explanation of the author's biography. The third research result is social criticism contained in the three short stories, namely: injustice in law, education, politic, and socio-cultural. The author conveys the social criticism through characters and themes. This social criticism is conveyed specifically to readers and in general to society and the government. The author aims to make readers aware to open their mindset to their surroundings.

Abstract

This undergraduate thesis discusses the usage of women’s language features in the television series Emily in Paris. The study analyzes the features of women’s language and its functions in the television series. This study uses observation method in collecting the data. The data were taken from Emily in Paris television series and the movie scripts. Descriptive qualitative method is used to analyze the data by applying women’s language features theory by Lakoff. Based on the analysis and data taken, there are 480 utterance of women’s language features found and ten features of women’s language used by the female characters in Emily in Paris. Lexical hedges or fillers is the most used feature and precise color terms is the least used feature.

Abstract

This article discusses the world of fauna from a collection of poems called Jantung Lebah Ratu by Nirwan Dewanto. This poetry collection contains sixty-six poems with three subtitles; Kantung Kesatu: Biru Kidal, Kantung Kedua: Kuning Silam and Kantung Ketiga: Merah Suam. Of the forty-six poems, nine were taken with the theme of fauna. The focus of this research is two things, namely to reveal the structure and to reveal the world of fauna in the poetry collection Jantung Lebah Ratu. The method used to collect data is the literature study method. The description method is used to analyze the data. The analysis technique used in this research is purposive sampling technique. The analysis of the nine poems uses structural theory from Fananie, Atmazaki, Pradopo and Michael Riffaterre's semiotic theory. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the nine poems were analyzed in terms of structure (form and content). Then, to reveal the world of fauna, a semiotic theory was used. The sound play of assonance, alliteration, deep rhyme, final rhyme, imagery and figurative language that the poet wants to convey are able to make readers imagine about the world of fauna.

Abstract

This research entitled "Analysis of Hegemony in the Ngipiang Jokowi Short Story Collection Book by I Made Sugianto ". This analysis aims to determine the structure and obtain a clear explanation about hegemony in the four short stories. This study uses two theories including structural theory and hegemony theory. The methods and techniques used are divided into three types, namely; the data collection stage, the data analysis stage, and the data analysis presentation stage. The method used in data collection is the simak method accompanied by translation techniques and note-taking techniques. Then, methods and techniques use qualitative methods and analytic descriptive techniques. Then, proceed with informal methods in the stage of presenting the results of data analysis, the techniques used are inductive and deductive. The results obtained in this study include the narrative structure and form of hegemony in the four short stories. The narrative structure is divided into incidents, plot, characters and characterizations, settings, themes, and moral value. The analysis of hegemony in the four short stories is divided into two types, namely domination of power based on morals and domination of power which is suppressive. The author describes hegemony through characters and characterizations, incidents, and settings. The hegemony reflected in the four short stories is presented in two kinds, namely hegemony in verbal form and hegemony in physical form.

Abstract

This study was aimed to identify and analyze the meaning and message in several sentences found in the novel Rage of Angels by Sidney Sheldon published in 1980. The selected sentences in the novel, which are the data of this study, were collected by applying the documentation method and note-taking technique which then were analyzed using the descriptive qualitative method. The data were presented informally in descriptive form. This study analyzes the types of meaning based on the theory proposed by Leech (1974) and the messages of the novel based on the biographical approach theory by Wellek and Warren (1962). As a result, all the seven types of meaning, namely connotative meaning, conceptual meaning, affective meaning, stylistic meaning, reflected meaning, collocative meaning, and thematic meaning, were found in the novel. In relation to the message of the novel, based on the biographical approach, there were five messages that the author delivered.

Abstract

This article discusses the story of Asih or Kasih. Asih is a ghost in the Novel of Asih was written by Risa Saraswati. She was chosen as an object of research based on several reasons such as the public’s response, both oral and written on social media. The characteristic of Risa Saraswati when she wrote this novel, The film of "Asih" was the fifth highest grossing film in Indonesia in 2018. Nurgiyantoro’s theory is used and the elevation of Eneste. The structure theory of Nurgiyantoro explains the plot, setting and the characterization. Eneste’s theory verifies the alterations in the novel Asih to the film such as increment, decrement and variation. A qualitative method is used with the reading technique, observe and note. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and cooperative methods by describing and comparing the results of the data that was found. This study was explained the alteration of plot, decrement and the alteration of variation.

Abstract

This article is entitled "The Ineffectiveness of Sentences in Bali Post Readers' Letter for the January - August 2020 Period". The topic selection was based on the ineffective sentence problems found in the Bali Post readers' letters. Ineffective sentences must be avoided so that the process of conveying and receiving information is perfect. The problem is focused on two things. First, the ineffectiveness of the Bali Post sentences for the period January - August 2020. Second, the factors causing the ineffectiveness of the sentence. The theory used is Keraf (1980), Verhaar (1982), Razak (1986), Putrayasa (2010), and Widjono (2012). The method used is descriptive analytic. The data were selected based on purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there were sentence ineffectiveness in the Bali Post 2020 readership letter, such as structural errors, sentence confusion, diction errors, and spelling errors. The ineffectiveness of sentences is caused by several factors, namely the presence of contamination or confusion, pleonasm, ambiguity, ambiguity of sentence elements, redundant prepositions, errors of reasoning, inaccuracy of word forms, inaccurate meanings of words, the influence of foreign languages, and the influence of regional languages.

Abstract

This research focused on the discussion about the analysis of the lexicon of the verb 'destroy' in the Balinese language. The data of this research are taken from some verbs in one meaning field with the verb 'destroy' which is found in the Balinese language. After the data collected, the data are analyzed based on the entities, the tools the manners which are related to the lexicons of the verb 'destroy'. Then, the findings of the research are presented descriptively. Based on the analysis, the lexicons in the Balinese language which have the same meaning field with the verb 'destroy' are Ngencakin, Ngremukin, Nguwugang, Menyahin, Nglidekin, Ngededekang, Ngeregreg, Nyakcakin, Nyetset, Mesbes, Ngincuk, and Ngenyagin. They are in the same meaning field but has different meaning based on the context of usage.

Abstract

This study aiming to analyze society 5.0, challenges and obstacles to realize society 5.0, and society 5.0 contribution to SDGs. The data was collected by using the documentation method and note-taking technique from the movie AI Houkai by Irie Yu. The data was analyzed descriptive qualitatively based on the theory of society 5.0 by Nakanishi, literature anthropology by Ratna, semiotics by Eco and the theory of Young about SDGs theory. The finding shows that society 5.0 characterized as “Creative Society”of rapidly advancing innovation in digital technologies such as AI, the Internet of Things, robotics, and Augmented Reality. All people can share common goals. But, challenges and obstacles to realize such development time, permission from the government, and refusal from Japanese. Society 5.0 will contribute to delivering on SDGs.
