Abstract

This study is aimed to recognize the meaning and the process of mayah ketekan tradition and to discover the implication of this tradition to the social boundary within the society of Banjar Lawak. The method applied in this study is the ethnographical method which is involved in qualitative method. The method of collecting data conducted in this study includes the following techniques, observation, interview, and literature review. This study has discovered that the tradition of mayah ketekan still carries meaningful values for the society of Banjar Lawak in depth; thus, this tradition is still conducted although it has changed in some aspects within the tradition. In addition, the implication of the mayah ketekan tradition involves the strengthened social boundary within the society of Banjar Lawak in the occasion of piodalan purnama kapat, when the tradition of mayah ketekan is conducted.

Abstract

The title of this study is “Conflicts in Characters’ Movie of San Andreas ”. This study deals with conflicts faced by the characters in the movie. The aims of this study are to identify the conflicts, source of conflicts, and conflict management strategies. The data was taken from movie entitled San Andreas directed by Peyton in 2015. Documentation method and note-taking technique are used to collecting data. The data were analyzed by using the theory of literature proposed by Kenney (1996), and the theory of source of conflicts by Deetz and Stevenson (1986). The result of the study showed that there are two kind of conflicts, namely internal and external conflicts

Abstract

Gender and ecological issues are still a serious problem in Indonesia. This is evidenced by the high rate of violence against women and natural damage that occurs. Education is one sector that has the task of building gender and ecological awareness for every generation. Education has a periodization in the course of Indonesian history. This study aims to examine the value of ecological and gender education in the implementation of education during the New Orde and after reform eras. These two periods directly had a significant impact on gender and ecological education in Indonesia. The methodology in this study uses the library method using an ecofeminism perspective. This study is deliberately limited to only two periods of power, New Order and the Reformation Order. This was done so that this study could be focused and in-depth. The study in this paper will focus on explaining how gender and ecological awareness in education in Indonesia was socialized and internalized, both during the New Orde and after reformation eras

Abstract

This research is entitled “Frogs: The Comparison of Balinese Narrative Text with Japanese Folklore. The purpose of this research is to compare Geguritan Enggung with a Japanese folklore entitled "Kaeru Ny?b?". Kaeru Nyobo tells a story of Frog who plays a female character with a romance theme. This research applied a qualitative descriptive method using literary ecological theory and comparative literary theory. The findings in this study are the similarities and differences between the Balinese narrative text entitled Geguritan Enggung and the Japanese folklore entitled Kaeru Ny?b?. In addition, this research also found the meaning of the story of each of these stories.

Abstract

Following the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, Japanese language education at the high school / vocational level (SMA / SMK) in Bali faces a significant challenge. The lack of thorough understanding and communication caused the teachers to feel that the Merdeka Curriculum was less friendly to the Japanese language class hours in their schools. This article aims to describe the problems encountered in SMA / SMK in Bali related to Japanese language education not only in terms of policies in the form of the curriculum but also from the side of schools, teachers, and students. The data collection method uses a google survey form followed by an unstructured interview. The study in this article is included in the qualitative grounded theory research. Based on the research results, the problems faced by Japanese language education in SMA / SMK in Bali can be grouped into four categories: curriculum in SMA / SMK, school support, teacher ability, and student enthusiasm. It requires a correct understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum and good communication with policymakers in schools in order to overcome the problems faced.

Abstract

The results of this study are to describe the toponyms found in the origins of place names in Kuta and South Kuta Districts. The use of toponymy theory in this analysis is able to reveal toponymy aspects of place names in Kuta and South Kuta Districts. Based on the toponymy theory according to Robiansyah (2017: 13), it is grouped into four, namely (1) vegetation toponymy; (2) historical toponymy; (3) toponymy of gifts; (4) regional toponymy in place names in Kuta and South Kuta Districts. The methods and techniques used consist of three stages, namely: (1) The stage of providing data using the listening method, followed by the technique of observing the skilled engagement (SLC) technique, and the recording technique, as well as the proficient method, followed by the fishing technique and the proficient technique, ( 2) The data analysis phase uses the matching method with the advanced technique of selecting determinant elements (PUP) and the comparative comparison technique (HBB), as well as the distribution method with the advanced technique of dividing the direct elements (BUL), (3) The data analysis results stage uses the method formal and informal methods supported by deductive and inductive techniques. The toponymic aspects of place names in Kuta and South Kuta sub-districts include four types of toponymy, namely vegetation toponymy, historical toponymy, gift toponymy, and area toponymy which is the origin of the place names.

Abstract

This study discusses the dynamics of the Ikawangi association as a regional association in the period 2009 to 2018. Some of the issues that will be discussed in this study are (1) How the history of Ikawangi Dewata Balo (2) How the development of Ikawangi Dewata in the period 2009 to 2018, and (3) What are the implications of Ikawangi Dewata for Banyuwangi people in Bali and non-Banyuwangi societies. This research is a historical research. The approach used in the study is social history. The historical theory used is five elements of historical theory initiated by Ida Bagus Sidemen: historical understanding, historical explanation, historical objectivity, historical causation and historical determinism. The results of this study reveal the origin and chronology of the establishment of Ikawangi Dewata as a regional-based association in Bali , the development of Ikawangi Dewata, and the implications for the Banyuwangi and non-Banyuwangi communities in Bali.

Abstract

Politeness is the primary notion in this study. The objective was to find the types of politeness maxim and its scale applied by the character in Emma 2020 movie. The analysis was conducted based on the theories proposed by Leech (1983) who formulated the six types of politeness maxim. Leech (1983:123) also proposed the three scales of politeness and two scales based on the theory by Brown and Gilman (1960). The data were taken from the British romance movie entitled Emma 2020. The qualitative method was used for analyzing the data. The analysis found six types of politeness maxim and five types of politeness scale applied by the movie characters with the types of 13 approbation maxim and 24 cost-benefit scales was extremely appear. In addition, there are two types of politeness maxim compete by the same character found in this analysis, and the goals of conversation affected the politeness maxim application.

Abstract

This study is entitled "The Myth of Bukit Buung Batu Majalan in Pengosekan Traditional Village: Literary Ecological Analysis". This study aims to describe the literary ecology contained in it. This study uses the theory of literary eco-criticism. The listening method and the speaking method with recording techniques and note-taking techniques as well as using literal and idiomatic translation techniques are used in the data collection stage. The analytical descriptive method is used in the data analysis stage. Informal and formal methods are used in presenting the results of data analysis with deductive and inductive techniques. The results of this study are that this myth contains literary ecology which consists of 1) Pastoral narrative includes bucolic elements, arcadia construction elements, and elements of retreat and return discourse. 2) The apocalyptic narrative includes elements of the hero character, apocalyptic environmental elements, and elements of visions or predictions, and 3) Environmental wisdom values ??consisting of respect for nature, moral responsibility towards nature, solidarity towards nature, compassion and concern for nature, as well as the attitude of not disturbing natural life
