Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to test the effectiveness of in vivo herbal sprays of kirinyuh and betel leaves against scabies in goats. Samples were divided into 5 treatment groups. The treatment variable in this study were, one negative control or no treatment, one positive control group with kudix, one group with 30% kirinyuh leaf extract, one group with 30% betel leaf extract, and one group with kirinyuh and betel leaf extracts with respective concentrations of 15%. While the parameters observed are; extensive alopecia, skin thickening and scalded. Treatment was given by spraying evenly on the entire surface of the scabies wound 2 times a day and then observing on the 14th day. The results showed that 30% kirinyuh leaf extract had the best scabies healing effect compared to other treatments. The parameter that shows the best healing is the scab area parameter. This is due to the content of flavonoids, saponins, and tannins which have the effect of helping scabies wound healing. It is necessary to carry out further research on other factors that can affect the healing rate of scabies wounds given treatment such as environmental factors and feed

Abstract

Bali cattle are one of the original cattle breeds in Indonesia. Selecting to produce good offspring is an important factor in bali cattle management. In selecting bali cattle, the diversity and correlation between body length dimensions can be used as a benchmark. The potential of the bali cattle population in Gerokgak makes it possible to apply for certification as a source area for bali cattle so that it can become a certified superior bali cattle model. This research was conducted by measuring the length of the head, neck, body, ears, tail, and horn on 25 cattles at Pusat Pembibitan Sapi Bali Unggul Gerokgak by purposive sampling method. The data obtained were analyzed by descriptive analysis and biplot analysis, presented in the form of tables and graphs. The results of the most diverse diversity of length dimensions are horn length, which is 18.2082% and the most similar is the head length of 4.9797%. Body length is positively correlated with head length, therefore in selecting bali cattle, head length can be used as an alternative to determine the classification of superior breeds of cattle and breeders are advised to pay attention to internal and external factors in the maintenance of bali cattle.

Abstract

Nevertheless, it is often found that the after vaccination antibody titers is not as expected due to the existance of maternal antibodies. A passive maternal antibodies can inhibit formation of imunoglobulin and neutralize the antigen vaccines. According to that above mentioned explanation, this research aims to detect the maternal antibodies of Newcastle Disease in broilers to carefully identify when the chicken should be vaccinated. As the main object of study, 10 unvaccinated broilers would be included in this research. These samples would be grouped by 3 different times of collecting blood, namely at the age of 7th, 14th, and 21st days. Blood sampling is subsequently carried out through branchialis vein that concludes 10 serum samples from each day. The respective samples will be serologically examined by conducting the haemaglutination (HA) and haemaglutination inhibition (HI) analysis to generate the antibody titers. All the data produced in this research will statistically processed by using descriptive statistical and regression tests on the SPSS software. The results showed a decrease in the maternal antibody titer of Newcastle Disease in broilers aged 7 days with a titer of 6.1 HI log 2, to 2.8 HI log 2 at 14 days of age, and 1.8 HI log 2 at 21 days of age. The Newcastle Disease vaccination program is most appropriate when the broiler is 10 days old because the maternal antibody titer is already at the positive threshold, namely 4 HI log 2.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of various concentrations of butyric acid on the performance and carcass percentage of broiler. This study used 24 broilers strain CP 707, PT. Charoen Pokphand and conducted in Penebel Village, Penebel District, Tabanan Regency, Bali Province. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments were P0 (feed without butyric acid/control), P1 (feed added with 0.1% butyric acid), P2 (feed added with 0.2% butyric acid), and P3 (feed added with 0.3% butyric acid). The variables of this study were body weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion ratio (FCR), and carcass percentage of broiler. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and if there were differences, it was continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The results showed that butyric acid with concentrations of 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.3% had a significant effect on improving the performance of broilers. The application of various concentrations of butyric acid significantly affected the body weight gain of broilers, but had no significant effect on feed intake and feed conversion of broilers. Butyric acid with concentrations of 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3% also had a significant effect in increasing the percentage of broiler carcasses.

Abstract

Lead is a non-essential heavy metal which is toxic to kidney, carcinogenic, and teratogenic if get inside animal or even human’s body. The research aims to determine the histopatologic view of rat’s kidney which was exposed to lead with different doses. The research uses 20 of 2 months old Wistar strain white rat with 250-300 g body weight. The research uses completely randomized design with 4 treatments, which is control (P0), 0.5 ppm lead acetate (P1), 1.0 ppm lead acetate (P2), and 2.0 lead acetate (P3). Treatment were given daily for 30 days and on day 31 euthanation and necropsy was performed then the kidney tissue was removed and put into 10% neutral buffer formalin. Then histopathologic preparation with hematoxilyn eosin stain was made. Kidney histopathology changes that were examined were bleeding, necrosis, and inflammation. Severity of the lesion was made into scoring wiith mild category of it was focal, moderate if it was multifocal, and severy if it was diffuse. The Kruskal-Wallis test of the histopathologic examination result of rat’s kidney which was exposed to lead acetate shows a significant bleeding, necrosis and even nephritis (inflammation) lesion compared to without the exposure to lead acetate (control). The Mann-Whitney test shows a significant result which varies between bleeding, necrosis, even nephritis (inflammation) lesion. with a It can be concluded that the administration of lead acetate with the dose of 0.5 ppm, 1.0 ppm, even 2.0 ppm can cause bleeding, necrosis even nephritis compared to control and the administration of 2.0 ppm dose shows the most severe lesions. There needs to be a continued research regarding the effects of lead with higher doses.

Abstract

Newcastle Disease (ND) is a disease caused by avian Paramyxovirus type-1. Common symptoms had seen early in infection are decreased appetite, lethargy and conjunctivitis. The main strategy that can be done to prevent the emergence of ND disease is by implementing a biosecurity system and vaccination, the success of vaccination is supported by post-vaccination antibody titer examination. This study aims to compare the determination of Newcastle Disease antibody titers in broiler vaccinated at the age of one day at the factory and seven days old. This study used 30 broiler divided into three treatment groups. The first sample chickens group were not vaccinated or known as control samples (P0). The second group of chickens has vaccinated one-day ages at the factory (P1). The third group of vaccinated chickens was seventh days old (P2). Blood sampling in the P0 group was carried out starting at the age of 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 days, the P1 group at the age of 7, 14 and 21 days and in the P2 group at the age of 14, 21 and 28 days at random (random sampling) through the brachial vein. The examination of serum antibody titers can be using the Haemagglutination Inhibition (HI) serological test. The data obtained from the serological examination results were analyzed using the statistical test of variance and regression analysis test SPSS software. The results showed that there was a significant difference in ND antibody titers in the first and second weeks after vaccination and there was no significant difference in the third week after vaccination. It is necessary to booster broilers vaccinated one day at the age of 13 days and broilers vaccinated at seven days at the age of 25 days to increase immunity again.
