Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of gold prices on the profitability of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), with a focus on its implications for social and economic issues within society. The research subjects include monthly gold price data from 2019 to 2023 and BSI’s financial reports for the same period. The study employs a quantitative approach using simple linear regression analysis with SPSS Version 23. The results reveal that gold prices significantly affect BSI's profitability, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The T-test indicates that from 2021 to 2023, fluctuations in gold prices have a significant impact on BSI’s profitability, with a T-value of 13.526 > T-table 1.67 and a significance value of 0.000 < 0.005. The coefficient of determination shows that gold prices account for 75.9% of the variation in BSI’s profitability. These findings highlight how gold price can influence Islamic banking products and impact investment decisions within the community. The results suggest the need for better risk management strategies by BSI to mitigate the effects of gold price volatility and address potential social and economic instability arising from asset price changes. This study provides valuable insights into how gold price can affect economic well-being and the stability of the Islamic banking sector.

Abstract

Teaching materials are an important point in the implementation of student lectures in class. The availability of printed teaching materials is very unattractive in this modern era. This research aims to develop teaching materials for the Android-based Classical Indonesian History course. Research using ADDIE. Data collection techniques through pre-test and post-test for Tadris IPS students. The data analysis technique in this research went through three stages, namely expert validity test, normality test and paired sample t-Test. Android-based Classic Indonesian History with Mobile Learning (Class In Hole) teaching materials to increase students' historical awareness have an effect on increasing students' understanding of concepts based on the results of the "Paired Samples Test", it is known that the t count has a negative value of -18.979. This negative T value causes the average pre-test score to be lower than the average post-test score. Next is the stage of finding the t table value, where the t table is searched based on the df (degree of freedom) value and significance value. From the output above, it is known that the df is 60 and the significance is 0.05. Based on the number of student participants of 61 and an error significance level value of 5%, the t table value is 2.00. So it can be concluded that the calculated t value (18.979) > t table (2.00). It can be concluded that the use of Class In Hole teaching materials to increase students' historical awareness has a significant effect. Class In Hole is suitable to be given as teaching material to students. Keywords: Teaching materials, class in hole, historical awareness.

Abstract

Subjective well-being among students in coastal schools can be influenced by pro-environmental behavior, place attachment, and self-efficacy. This study aims to analyze the contributions of these three factors to students' subjective well-being in the Thousand Islands region. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes a survey method and explanatory survey design. The study population comprises 996 students from seven junior high schools in the Thousand Islands, with a sample of 285 students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected using a validated and reliable questionnaire measuring pro-environmental behavior, place attachment, self-efficacy, and subjective well-being. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess the relationships between exogenous variables (pro-environmental behavior, place attachment, self-efficacy) and endogenous variables (subjective well-being). The results indicate that pro-environmental behavior, place attachment, and self-efficacy significantly positively affect students' subjective well-being. These findings highlight the importance of enhancing place attachment and self-efficacy to maximize the positive impact of pro-environmental behavior on students' well-being. Recommendations include developing environmental education programs that strengthen students' attachment to their school environment and enhance their self-efficacy in pro-environmental behavior. Keywords: Coastal schools, environmental behavior,  place attachment, self-efficacy.

Abstract

This research was motivated by various environmental damages that occurred around Seraya village, Karangasem, Bali. Many factors of damage are caused by human actions such as illegal logging of forests and trees, indifference of the community to their dirty environment, and so on. This study aims to examine the use and impact of saput poleng on environmental sustainability and the effectiveness of saput poleng in the formation of ecological citizenship in Balinese indigenous communities. This type of research uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic methods. Data analysis uses data reduction, data analysis and verification or conclusion. Environmental conservation efforts by using saput poleng on certain trees create a mystical impression and can prevent intentions and behaviors to protect the existence of trees and support beautiful and sustainable environmental conditions. The results showed that the use of saput poleng on trees is not a fad, but has philosophical and religious values that are highly adhered to by the local community. The habit of pairing saput poleng is able to preserve trees, the environment and is very effective in forming ecological citizenship. Keywords: Ecological citizenship, indigenous Balinese, saput poleng

Abstract

Environmental quality is one of the cornerstones in realizing sustainable development. The shift in economic sectors that Indonesia has experienced has resulted in environmental degradation that poses a severe threat to the quality of life of people and biodiversity, affecting economic sustainability. The economic transformation that is carried out changes human activities to affect the happiness and ease of access that people get and the existence of technology transfer activities. In addition, changes in the economic sector can increase regional income due to increased productivity. This increase in income can cause inequality between communities that can affect environmental quality. This study aims to analyze environmental determinants, including socioeconomic dimensions and technology use in the community. The method used is quantitative with multiple linear regression analysis through the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) technique. The data used is secondary data that is a cross-section of 34 Indonesian provinces in 2021 because it adjusts to the availability of data. The results showed that happiness and the use of technology have a positive but insignificant influence on environmental quality. In addition, income inequality, Human Development Index, and Gross Regional Domestic Product negatively influence on environmental quality. Keywords: Socio-economic, technological dimension, environmental quality.

Abstract

Lake Bermanei has undergone various changes since 2009, with the construction of concrete embankments, asphalt roads and art performances. However, it has not yet achieved tourism popularity equivalent to other tourist attractions. The research aims to analyze what are the challenges and opportunities for the community in developing the tourist attraction. Although many studies have been conducted on tourism development in various locations, specific research on the potential and challenges of tourism development in Lake Bermanei, especially in this context, has never been researched. Using a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and interviews. The population used included all community members of Pahlawan Village as well as related parties such as local government and local communities. Samples were taken from representatives of the village community and local government officials. Data were analyzed using Max Weber's action theory, which focuses on the rational actions taken by the government and community in overcoming challenges and taking advantage of opportunities in tourism development by carrying out inauguration activities, and adding several playgrounds. The results showed that Lake Bermanei has the potential for tourism development with beautiful natural attractions, adequate facilities and infrastructure and the potential for economic improvement. However, it has challenges related to limited fund management, lack of knowledge and interest in community tourism, and limited utilization of technology for promotion. The implication of this research is the need for a planned strategy to overcome these challenges, such as increasing the capacity of fund management, training for the community, and utilizing information technology for tourism promotion. Keywords: Challenges; opportunities; tourism development.
