Abstract

Dayak onion (Eleutherine bulbosa) is a medicinal plant that has been known and used by Dayak People from Central Kalimantan. It contains various chemical compounds such as alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, phenolics, steroids, and tannins which are known to have antibacterial effects. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of Dayak onion extract against two pathogenic bacteria namely Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in vitro and to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) value of the Dayak onion extract. Extraction was carried out by maceration method using ethanol 96 % and n-hexane. The antibacterial activity test was carried out using the disc diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer Test). The determination of MIC value was carried out by using disc diffusion with five different concentrations 500, 250, 100, 50, 25, and 10 mg/mL. The research result showed that Dayak onion had antibacterial activity. Ethanol 96% extract was only able to inhibit the growth of S. aureus with an inhibition zone of 15.02 mm. Meanwhile, the n-hexane extract was able to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli with an inhibition zone of 18.48 dan 14.94 mm, respectively. MIC value of ethanol 96% for S. aureus was 50 mg/mL. N-hexane extract has MIC value for E. coli and S. aureus was 10 mg/mL.

Abstract

The diversity of the Suborder Serpentes has an important role in the ecosystem and is used as a parameter of environmental quality. The high diversity of the Suborder Serpentes in Indonesia is not matched by adequate research and publications. The Sendangbiru beach area is a Nature Reserve area which has the potential to become a natural habitat for all types of animals, especially the Serpentes Suborder because it has a stable temperature and many unspoiled habitats. This study aims to find out what types of snakes are in the area and how the diversity, level of abundance, and dominance of the Suborder Serpentes are. This research method uses a descriptive explorative method by exploring the routes on Sendangbiru beach area. The suborder Serpentes found will be measured for morphometry, namely by measuring the snake's body which includes body length, tail length, total length, number of scales, and sex. This study found 6 species of snakes. The six species found consisted of the Aglypha, Solenoglypha, and Ophistoglypha snakes. The snake species that have been found belong to the Colubridae family as many as 4 species from 3 different genera, namely the species Dendrelaphis pictus of the genus Dendrelaphis, the species Ahaetulla nasuta and Ahaetulla prasina of the genus Ahaetulla, and the species Chrysopelea paradisi of the genus Chrysopelea. While the other 2 species are the Viperidae family with the species name Cryptelytrops albolabris, the genus Cryptelytrops, and the Pythonidae family, with the species name Malayopython reticulatus, the genus Malayopython. The diversity index (H') in the Sendangbiru beach area is 1.79 with a moderate diversity value, an evenness value (E) 1 and indicates that the suborder found on Sendangbiru beach area has an even value and stable community, and a dominance value (C ) 0.17 with a low dominance value.

Abstract

Artificial Insemination (AI) is a mating process, by unnaturally bringing sperm and egg cells together in female livestock (poultry and ruminants) with the help of human hands. The success of the AI technique is influenced by three main factors namely; livestock, cement and humans. UPT Livestock Breeding and Animal Health of Madura is one of the institutions for preserving Madura cattle germplasm, which further optimizes the AI program. The aim is to find out the factors that influence the success of Artificial Insemination, the process of detecting lust (estrus) and Artificial Insemination techniques. The method used in this study was direct observation using the artificial insemination method, namely rectovaginal. AI is an attempt to insert semen into the reproductive tract of female livestock using artificial tools and with human assistance or in other words marriages that are not carried out naturally. Detection of lust (Estrus) is the observation of signs of heat in a cow to be inseminated, detection of heat is an important factor in the process of artificial insemination because it determines the time for proper and successful mating. The AI technique in cattle is the rectovaginal method, in which the hand is inserted into the rectum and then holds the part of the cervix that is most easily identified because it has a hard anatomy, then the insemination gun is inserted through the vulva, into the vagina up to the cervix.

Abstract

The traditional mining process in Wonocolo Village can have a significant impact on the quality of the soil around the mining area. This study aims to determine the effect of traditional mining processes on nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium content in soil. Because the content of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K) has an important role in soil fertility and plant growth, and can affect agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability in traditional mining areas. The method used in testing N, P, K in the soil is using a soil test tool. The results of testing soil quality in mining activities show that the parameters Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K) have low values, this can be seen when testing using a solution of Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K) discoloration of the soil cannot be seen. So that the results obtained are that soil pollution caused by traditional Wonocolo mining can be managed with bioremediation and phytoremediation techniques where these techniques are considered the most efficient and environmentally friendly in an effort to reduce soil pollution.

Abstract

Pantai merupakan satu di antara beberapa ekosistem yang telah lama dimanfaatkan oleh manusia untuk berbagai aktivitas dalam menunjang kehidupan. Fungsi pantai semakin beragam seiring dengan kemajuan peradaban dan kebudayaan manusia yang mengakibatkan fungsi dari pantai tidak sesuia dengan peruntukan unuk mendukung kehidupan organisme akuatik dan kebutuhan masyarakat sekitar pantai. Hal ini yang menyebabkan penurunan kualitas pantai disebabkan oleh masuknya berbagai buangan limbah dari berbagai aktivitas manusia sehingga menyebabkan terjadi perubahan kualitas fisika dan kimia pantai tersebut. Salah satu biota laut yang diduga secara langsung akan langsung terpengaruh keberadaannya akibat penurunan kualitas air dan sedimen di lingkungan pantai adalah gastropoda. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif, metode deskriptif dengan pengujian langsung di lakukan di lapangan dan di laboratorium. Hasil pada penelitian yang telah dilakukan diketahui bahwa kondisi perairan pantai berbeda antara tiap stasiun antar tercemar sedang dan tercemar ringan. Indeks Diversitas Gastropoda yang di teliti pada ketiga stasiun menunjuka perbedaan 1-2 (kategori tercemar sedang) dan pada stasiun 2 (kategori tercemar sangat ringan) dan stasiun 3 bernilai antar 2-3 (tercemar ringan).

Abstract

Community behavior in disposing of waste plays an important role in improving public health. Community participation is needed to reduce the amount of waste, especially the role of housewives. Efforts to reduce the amount of household waste require support, one of which is the public perception of household waste processing. So far, people do not have the habit of sorting and selecting waste so that the amount of waste disposed of at TPS continues to increase. This increase can affect the environmental conditions around the TPS if there is an accumulation of waste in the long term. This study aims to analyze public perceptions of TPS Tegalgondo and TPS Kepuharjo and to analyze the environmental conditions around TPS Tegalgondo and TPS Kepuharjo in Karangploso District. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative and direct field surveys. Based on the results of research conducted. The results of public perceptions of TPS Kepuharjo got very high perceptual scores about household waste management and low perceptions about TPS. The results of the analysis of environmental conditions at TPS Tegalgondo for the total risk value is 170 which is included in the medium category which means it requires high level management attention. The results of the analysis of the total risk value for TPS Kepuharjo is 112 which is in the low category, meaning that it requires management with routine procedures.

Abstract

Mimba adalah tanaman yang sangat berpotensial untuk dikembangkan pada saat ini, disebabkan mimba memiliki potensi besar untuk pengendalian hama, perlindungan terhadap lingkungan dan dalam bidang pengobatan. Azadirachta indica merupakan tanaman yang bernilai ekonomis tinggi karena dapat digunakan sebagai obat – obatan. Dalam beberapa tahun yang lalu ikan zebra sering digunakan sebagai organisme model percobaan dalam ilmu bidang biomedis, hal ini karena ikan zebra memiliki anatomi dan proses fisiologis yang sama dengan vertebrata yang lainnya. Berdasarkan penelitian sebelumnya mimba mengandung senyawa yaitu flavonoid, tanin, saponin, terpenoid, alkaloid, asam lemak, steroid dan triterpenoid. Tujuan dari penelian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pemberian daun mimba (Azadirachta indica) terhadap penyembuhan luka zebrafish (Danio rerio). Jumlah hewan uji adalah 28 ekor ikan zebra dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok.. Kelompok 1 sebagai kontrol, kelompok 2, 3 dan 4 sebagai perlakuan. Daun mimba di iris kemudian di taburkan ke dalam aquarium yang telah berisi ikan zebra yang terluka. Dilihat perubahan luka selama 7 hari. Dihitung dan di analisis rata – rata perubahan luka ikan zebra, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji ANOVA menggunakan JAMOVI. Hasil dari penelitian ini penyusutan luka ikan zebra (Danio rerio) dengan rata – rata penyusutan luka sebanyak 0,0486 cm pada perlakuan kontrol, rata – rata penyusutan ukuran luka pada perlakuan P1 sebanyak 0,1429 cm, rata – rata penyusutan ukuran luka pada perlakuan P2 sebanyak 0,1571 cm, rata – rata penyusutan ukuran luka pada perlakuan P3 sebanayak 0,1714 cm, memiliki nilai yang beda nyata. Sehingga IDM dapat memberikan pengaruh terhadap penyusutan luka ikan zebra.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Coban Talun Hulu Sungai Brantas, Batu City, East Java in August 2020, this study aims to inventory, analyze the abundance of periphyton, analyze water parameters in the Brantas Coban Talun Hulu River. Determination of the location for sampling purposive. Physical and chemical parameters measured include temperature, pH, DO, turbidity and salinity. This study found 17 periphytic families, consisting of Naviculaceae, Melosiraceae, Bacillariaceae, Skeletonemaceae, Rhizosoleniaceae, Coscinodiscaceae, Peridiniaceae, Gonyaulacaceae, Triceratiaceae, Protoperidiniaceae, Striatellaceae, Dinophysaceae, Lithodesmiaceae, Leptocylindraceae, and Striatellaceae. The results of the abundance of periphyton showed that Coban Talun was at a good level. Periphyton community which is dominated by Bacillariophyceae group shows good water quality. Based on the analysis of water quality parameters, Coban Talun is in the good category. Although high anthropogenic and tourism activities are presented at Coban Talun, some riparian vegetation can reduce water pollution and stabilize dissolved and suspended soils caused by human activities. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Banyuurip mangrove center (BMC), Kecamatan Ujung Pangkah Kabupaten Gresik selama bulan Juli-Agustus 2020. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui jenis vegetasi mangrove, indeks nilai pentingnya, membandingkan kelimpahan kepiting bakau beserta struktur ukuranya dan analisis hubungannya dengan parameter lingkungan di habitat mangrove yang berbeda yaitu daerah muara dengan air payau dan tepi pantai dengan air asin. Metode  penelitian dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan sampling secara sistematis dengan menggunakan Belt Transeck. Hasil pengamatan mangrove didapatkan 12 spesies dari 6 familia dan hasil pengamatan kelimpahan kepiting bakau (Scylla serrata) didapatkan nilai 1,24 ind/m2 untuk stasiun 1 dan 1,32 ind/m2 untuk stasiun 2. Data penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan rumus Indeks nilai penting (INP), kelimpahan kepiting bakau dan korelasi peorsen dengan bantuan softwere PAST 3.25 B. Parameter lingkungan yang diamati yaitu suhu, ph, salinitas dan jenis substrat.
