Abstract

Different from traditional Islamic boarding schools with their emphasis on theoretical skills, Arabic learning at Modern Islamic Boarding Schools has active skills such as speaking (maharah kalam) and writing (maharah kitabah). Among modern pesantren that conduct a relatively successful Arabic learning is Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Yogyakarta. Based on this background, the author conducted ethnographic research to understand the process of Arabic learning in MBS. The conceptual framework used by the author is the theory of discourse and the theory of speech acts by J.L. Austin. This study found that learning Arabic at MBS Yogyakarta reflects the complete discourse construct of Austin's theory. Locutionary discourse manifests in the form of motivational jargons to learn Arabic. Illocutionary acts are embodied in the locutionary production of the discourse in a system of actions in the form of orders, explanations containing appreciation, threats, and promises. From the locutionary and illocutionary processes, an effect appears in the speech partners, who are the students, in the form of awareness of the urgency of Arabic as the language of Islam.

Mental retardation is a condition of children whose intelligence is far below the average and is characterized by limited intelligence and incompetence in social communication. Islam views children with mental retardation as entities that must be considered for several strong reasons. The most basic is in the name of humanity. One fact that cannot be forgotten is that they are both creatures of God who must be respected. Moreover, the mentally retarded child is also a human being glorified by God. Mentally retarded children also have the same degree and social status as normal children, so in Islamic education, there should be no inequality in obtaining the right to education. Abstract

The lulongganda ritual is usually carried out by the people of Benua Village, this custom is an event that is carried out when the community has carried out the harvest and is about to open new land, then the community performs this ritual as a form of expression of prayer requests as well as their form of gratitude regarding the abundant harvest and without any disturbance, thanks to the implementation of the lulongganda ritual activity. In the implementation of the traditional lulongganda ritual, there are still many implementations that must be studied in Islamic law, therefore if we do something, it cannot be separated from the guidance and instructions that exist and are justified according to Islam, because religion is not a tool, but completely Religion does not oppose custom, as long as it does not conflict with the principles that have been justified by religion. The method used in this research is qualitative research using data collection methods, namely the observation method, interview method, and documentation method, then the type of research is field research. The results of this research reveal two things in the implementation process which are divided into two types, the implementation is by Islamic law and which is not by Islamic law, while the implementation is by Islamic law, namely: efforts to preserve the traditional lulongganda ritual, the lulo movement which has philosophical meaning in farming, preserving traditional arts and sports. While the implementation is not by Islamic law, namely: community expectations for the implementation of the lulongganda ritual, the implementation of mombaka okanda, the implementation of mosehe ndiolu.
