Abstract

The provision of drug treatment within overcrowded prisons presents significant challenges. This study investigated the effectiveness of Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (BCBT) in reducing methamphetamine dependence severity and craving intensity among incarcerated individuals. A quantitative experimental design compared an intervention group to a control group. Following the screening of 551 prisoners, 170 participants meeting inclusion criteria were randomly assigned to either the BCBT (n=85) or control (n=85) condition. The BCBT group received four individual therapy sessions with two follow-ups over six months. The control group received standard psychoeducational leaflets. The Severity Dependent Scale and a brief craving scale were administered pre- and post-intervention to assess changes in methamphetamine dependence and craving levels. Results indicated a statistically significant decrease in craving within the BCBT group, whereas craving tended to increase in the control group. These findings align with the understanding that recovery is multifaceted, influenced by addiction severity, recovery engagement, and social support, including self-awareness. In conclusion, BCBT demonstrates efficacy in reducing methamphetamine dependence and craving among incarcerated people who use drugs.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the influence of envy on employee proactive behavior, as well as examine the moderating role of empowering leadership in the relationship. Envy is a common emotion in the workplace that can have both positive and negative impacts on employee behavior. Envy can be divided into benign envy (constructive envy) and malicious envy (destructive envy) which have different impacts on proactive behavior, namely employees' initiative actions in creating new job opportunities. The study used a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design, involving 205 respondents from the hospitality sector, and analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results show that benign envy has a significant positive effect on proactive behavior, while malicious envy shows no significant effect. Empowering leadership was shown to strengthen the positive relationship between benign envy and proactive behavior, and decrease the negative impact of malicious envy. Overall, envy and empowering leadership accounted for 71.8% of the variance in proactive behavior. This study recommends the importance of implementing an empowering leadership style to create a work environment that encourages positive motivation and employee initiative. Scientifically, these findings contribute to the organizational psychology literature by confirming the differential role of envy and leadership style in shaping proactive behavior. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi pengaruh envy terhadap perilaku proaktif karyawan, serta menguji peran moderasi dari kepemimpinan yang memberdayakan dalam hubungan tersebut. Rasa iri merupakan emosi umum di tempat kerja yang dapat berdampak positif maupun negatif terhadap perilaku karyawan. Envy dibedakan menjadi benign envy (iri konstruktif) dan malicious envy (iri destruktif) yang memiliki dampak berbeda terhadap perilaku proaktif, yaitu tindakan inisiatif karyawan dalam menciptakan peluang kerja baru. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain explanatory research, melibatkan 205 responden dari sektor perhotelan, dan dianalisis menggunakan Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa benign envy berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap perilaku proaktif, sedangkan malicious envy tidak menunjukkan pengaruh signifikan. Kepemimpinan yang memberdayakan terbukti memperkuat hubungan positif antara benign envy dan perilaku proaktif, serta menurunkan dampak negatif dari malicious envy. Secara keseluruhan, rasa iri dan kepemimpinan yang memberdayakan menyumbang 71,8% variansi perilaku proaktif. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan pentingnya penerapan gaya kepemimpinan pemberdayaan untuk menciptakan lingkungan kerja yang mendorong motivasi positif dan inisiatif karyawan. Secara ilmiah, temuan ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap literatur psikologi organisasi dengan menegaskan peran diferensial rasa iri dan gaya kepemimpinan dalam membentuk perilaku kerja yang proaktif.

Abstract

Prosociality universal application, which transcends the boundaries of social and cultural differences, enabled people to support collective well-being. However, the tendency to limit helping behavior to group interests undermines its universality and does not lead to a harmonious society. The phenomenon of Indonesian society in recent years has shown a trend towards exclusive ingroup support and rejection of outgroup empowerment, especially in Muslim communities in Indonesia. The lackluster outgroup support from the community suggested an underlying problem, which is how people perceive religious diversity in general. The purpose of this study is to determine how attitudes that support diversity promotion relate to how social norms about diversity are perceived. The Normative Multiculturalism Scale and Prosocial Attitudes toward Out-group measures were completed by 81 Muslim individuals through an online survey. Correlational analysis was conducted by examining the relationship between the dimensions of Normative Multiculturalism and Prosocial Attitudes towards the Out-group. The results showed significant positive correlations on each dimension of Normative Multiculturalism. Pengaplikasian perilaku menolong yang melewati batas-batas perbedaan sosial dan budaya, memampukan manusia mencapai kesejahteraan kolektif. Namun, kecenderungan membatasi perilaku menolong untuk kepentingan kelompok, menggagalkan prinsip keuniversalannya dan tidak mewujudkan kehidupan masyarakat yang harmonis. Fenomena kehidupan masyarakat Indonesia dalam beberapa tahun terakhir menunjukkan tren pada pembatasan sikap dukungan yang eksklusif pada ingroup dan sikap penolakan pemberdayaan outgroup, khususnya pada masyarakat Muslim di Indonesia. Rendahnya sikap dukungan masyarakat terhadap out-group mengusulkan masalah yang lebih mendasar, yaitu persepsi terhadap keberagaman agama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan persepsi norma sosial terhadap keberagaman dengan sikap dukungan terhadap promosi keberagaman. Pengukuran Multikulturalisme Normatif dan Sikap Prososial terhadap Out-group diselesaikan oleh 81 Muslim melalui survei online. Analisis korelasional dilakukan dengan menguji hubungan dimensi Multikulturalisme Normatif dengan Sikap Prososial terhadap Out-group. Hasil menunjukkan korelasi positif yang signifikan pada setiap dimensi Multikulturalisme Normatif.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate impostor phenomenon among intermediate-level students, analyzing their unseen struggles within their academic performance. The mixed method, particularly the explanatory sequential design, was utilized to gather data from the intermediate-level students of Cabanatuan East Central School. Through the comprehensive analysis of gathered data from survey questionnaires to semi-structured interviews, the study reveals that intermediate-grade level students exhibit a moderate level of impostor phenomenon, indicating occasional feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt. The researchers also discovered the emergence of five themes summarized as FLARE, which highlights various aspects of the participants’ experiences in navigating academic challenges. However, the study also highlighted the intricate interplay of personal satisfaction, aspirations, and social dynamics in academic and personal development. Moreover, the study findings suggest that factor birth order factor shows a notable relationship. The researchers came up with the idea of creating the Flare-Up program as an intervention to empower students by helping them recognize impostor phenomenon, fostering a positive self-image, equipping them with coping tools, promoting a growth mindset, and creating a supportive environment. Recommendations were also provided to create a strong parental support system that may help children set realistic expectations for themselves.

Abstract

Early adulthood is considered one of life's most critical stages. This is because, during this stage, individuals will face a variety of life transitions, making the ability to recover and adapt to difficult situations essential. This term is known as resilience. This study explored the role of social support as a mediator in the relationship between cognitive reappraisal and resilience in young adults. A quantitative method with mediation analysis was used. The study involved 241 participants in early adulthood (18-30 years old) (M = 22.06). The results showed a positive relationship between the use of cognitive reappraisal and resilience (r = 0.802; p .001). Furthermore, social support can mediate the relationship between the use of cognitive reappraisal and resilience (β = 0.598, p .001). It can be concluded that strategy to increase resilience in young adults can be strengthened through the optimization of cognitive reappraisal and social support. Dewasa awal merupakan salah satu tahapan yang dinilai cukup kritis. Hal ini dikarenakan pada tahap ini, individu akan menghadapi transisi kehidupan yang cukup beragam, sehingga kemampuan individu untuk bangkit dan adaptif dari keadaan sulit diperlukan pada tahapan ini. Istilah ini dikenal dengan nama resiliensi. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi peran dukungan sosial sebagai mediator dalam hubungan cognitive reappraisal dengan resiliensi pada individu dewasa awal. Metode yang digunakan ialah metode kuantitatif dengan analisis mediasi. Penelitian ini melibatkan partisipan yang berada pada tahap dewasa awal (18 – 30 tahun) sejumlah 241 orang (M = 22,06). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara penggunaan cognitive reappraisal dan resiliensi (r = 0,802; p .001). Selanjutnya, dukungan sosial dapat berperan dalam memediasi hubungan antara penggunaan cognitive reappraisal dan resiliensi (β = 0,598, p .001). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa peningkatan resiliensi pada individu dewasa awal dapat diperkuat melalui optimalisasi penggunaan cognitive reappraisal dan dukungan sosial.

Abstract

Broken home merupakan suatu fenomena dalam kehidupan sosial yang terjadi pada konflik keluarga yang dapat berakibat pada proses perkembangan kepribadian anak. Dalam perkembangan anak keluarga menjadi pilar dalam menentukan sifat kepribadian di masa dewasa. Adanya konflik di dalam keluarga yang berakibat pada broken home maka seorang anak memiliki kepribadian yang berbeda dengan anak yang orang tuanya masih utuh. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif wawancara terstruktur melalui pengungkapan pada latar belakang anak korban broken home yang berjumlah lima responden. Hasil temuan mengungkapkan bahwa anak korban broken home berharap untuk bisa lebih hidup mandiri, dengan adanya sikap untuk lebih nyaman berinteraksi dengan orang lain atau yang dianggapnya nyaman serta kegiatan di luar rumah daripada kepada kedua orangtua atau salah satu dari orang tua mereka.

Abstract

Fatherless is a prevalent phenomenon in Indonesia, significantly affecting children, especially emerging adults (ages 18-29) undergoing identity crystallization. Losing a father figure leads to feelings of loneliness and a lack of role models in life decisions. This study aims to explore the dynamics of the forgiveness process among emerging adults experiencing Fatherless and loneliness. Ten participants were selected based on loneliness criteria using the University of California Los Angeles Loneliness Scale Version 3 (UCLA) and interviewed with open-ended questions guided forgiveness theory. Data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to understand the meaning of participants’ life experiences. The results indicate that all participants experienced loneliness, but only five successfully forgave their fathers. Factors influencing the forgiveness process include the quality of the mother-child relationship, the mother’s perspective on conflicts, and the participants' religiosity. This study concludes that emotional support from the mother and spirituality play crucial roles in facilitating the forgiveness process for emerging adults. Fatherless atau ketidakhadiran ayah merupakan fenomena yang marak terjadi di Indonesia dan berdampak signifikan pada anak, khususnya emerging adult (usia 18–29 tahun) yang berada pada fase kristalisasi identitas. Ketidakhadiran ayah membuat mereka rentan mengalami kesepian dan kehilangan figur teladan dalam menentukan arah hidup. Sepuluh partisipan dipilih berdasarkan tingkat kesepian sedang hingga tinggi yang diukur menggunakan University of California Los Angeles Loneliness Scale Version 3 (UCLA-LS V3), khususnya pada skor ≥ 44 yang menunjukkan loneliness signifikan. Selanjutnya, mereka diwawancarai dengan pertanyaan terbuka yang disusun berdasarkan teori forgiveness dari Enright & the Human Development Study Group, yang menekankan tahapan uncovering, decision, work, dan deepening. Data dianalisis menggunakan Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) untuk menggali makna subjektif dari pengalaman hidup partisipan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh partisipan mengalami kesepian, namun hanya lima yang berhasil mencapai tahap forgiveness terhadap ayah mereka. Faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi proses forgiveness meliputi kualitas hubungan dengan ibu, sudut pandang ibu terhadap konflik keluarga, serta tingkat religiusitas dan spiritualitas partisipan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa dukungan emosional dari ibu dan aspek spiritual berperan penting dalam membantu emerging adults melewati proses forgiveness atas ketidakhadiran figur ayah dalam kehidupan mereka.

Abstract

Social stigma against LGBT individuals in Indonesia remains a serious issue that can affect their psychological well-being. In a society that often lacks acceptance of sexual diversity, conservative cultural and religious norms reinforce the stereotypes, prejudices, and discrimination they experience. A number of studies have highlighted the issue of stigma, but research focusing on the experiences of young LGBT people in the emerging adulthood phase (20–23 years) is still limited, even though this period is an important phase of identity formation that is vulnerable to social pressure. Therefore, this study aims to explore the experiences of stigma, the influence of cultural and religious values, and the coping strategies used by LGBT individuals in facing social pressure. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Three participants, aged 20–23 years, living in urban and suburban areas of Indonesia, were interviewed online via the Zoom platform twice each. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to find patterns of meaning in the participants' narratives. The results of the study identified the main themes of experiences of stigma (stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination), the impact on psychological well-being, the influence of culture and religion, social support, and coping strategies such as self-acceptance. These findings emphasize the importance of interventions based on social support, inclusive education, and community advocacy to reduce stigma and improve the well-being of LGBT people in Indonesia.

Abstract

Resilience is one of the important qualities that individuals in early adulthood need to possess, especially when facing various challenges and uncertainties in life. This study aims to examine the role of spirituality and social support in enhancing resilience among early adults. Using a quantitative approach, involved 292 participants selected through convenience sampling. All participants were Indonesian citizens aged 18-30 years. Data were collected using questionnaires consisting of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MPSS), the Attitudes Related to Spirituality Scale (ARES), and the Adult Resilience Measure-Revised (ARM-R). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression. The results of the study indicate that spirituality and social support collectively contribute to increased resilience (p < 0.001), with a combined contribution of 75,5%. Furthermore, partial regression analysis shows that both spirituality and social support individually contribute to resilience, with social support contributing 39,9% and spirituality contributing 35,6%. This study confirms that individual resilience is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors, namely spirituality as an internal factor and social support as an external protective factor. This research enriches the study of resilience in early adulthood by highlighting the synergy between psychosocial factors and spirituality within the Indonesian cultural context. Resiliensi merupakan salah satu hal penting yang perlu dimiliki individu di dewasa awal yang tengah mengalami berbagai tantangan serta ketidakpastian dalam hidup. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji peran spiritualitas dan dukungan sosial dalam meningkatkan resiliensi pada individu dewasa awal. Melalui pendekatan kuantitatif, penelitian ini melibatkan 282 partisipan yang dipilih melalui teknik convenience sampling. Seluruh partisipan merupakan Warga Negara Indonesia (WNI) dengan rentang usia 18-30 tahun. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MPSS), Attitudes Related to Spirituality Scale (ARES), dan Adult Resilience Measure-Revised (ARM-R). Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa spiritualitas dan dukungan sosial berkontribusi secara bersama-sama terhadap peningkatan resiliensi (p < 0,001), dengan kontribusi sebesar 75,5%. Selain itu, analisis regresi secara parsial menunjukkan bahwa spiritualitas dan dukungan sosial juga berkontribusi dalam peningkatan resiliensi, dengan kontribusi sebesar 39,9% untuk dukungan sosial dan 35,6% untuk spiritualitas. Penelitian ini memberikan penegasan bahwa resiliensi individu dipengaruhi oleh kombinasi faktor internal dan eksternal, yaitu spiritualitas sebagai sumber daya psikologis internal dan dukungan sosial sebagai faktor protektif eksternal. Secara ilmiah, penelitian ini memperkaya kajian resiliensi pada dewasa awal dengan menyoroti sinergi antara faktor psikososial dan spiritualitas dalam budaya Indonesia.

Abstract

Romantic relationships between teachers and students in high school can have serious social and psychological impacts. This study sought to explore the influence of social stigma on the mental health of students involved in romantic relationships between teachers and students, as well as its impact on the school environment. This study used a narrative literature review (NLR) method using 16 articles. This study found that social stigma causes stress, anxiety, and depression in students and reduces the credibility and authority of the teachers involved. Policy recommendations that should be implemented include prohibiting romantic relationships between teachers and students, professional ethics training, and education for students about healthy relationship boundaries to create a safe educational environment. Hubungan romantis antara guru dan siswa di SMA dapat menimbulkan dampak sosial dan psikologis yang serius. Penelitian ini berusaha mengeksplorasi pengaruh stigma sosial terhadap kesehatan mental siswa yang terlibat dalam hubungan romantis antara guru dan siswa, serta dampaknya pada lingkungan sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode narrative literature review (NLR) dengan menggunakan 16 artikel, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa stigma sosial menyebabkan stress, kecemasan, dan depresi pada siswa dan mengurangi kredibilitas dan otoritas guru yang terlibat. Rekomendasi kebijakan yang harus dilakukan mencakup pelarangan hubungan romantis guru dan siswa, pelatihan etika profesional, dan edukasi bagi siswa tentang batasan hubungan yang sehat untuk menciptakan lingkungan pendidikan yang aman.
