Abstract

This research aims to explore students' experiences in using the Google Translate application to support English language learning at Khairun University. The study employed a descriptive qualitative method involving ten fourth-semester students from the English Language Education Study Program as participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. The result revealed that most students used Google Translate to understand English texts, translate sentences, complete assignments, and expand vocabulary. The application was perceived as practical, fast, and easy to use, with the text translation features being the most frequently utilized. However, challenges such as inaccurate translations, contextual errors, and overdependence on the application were also identified. Students reported that while Google Translate supported their comprehension and learning, it should be complemented by other resources, such as dictionaries, to enhance translation accuracy and reduce reliance on technology. The research concludes that Google Translate provides significant benefits in facilitating English learning but requires critical use and integration with traditional learning tools to optimize.

Abstract

Currently, teachers are faced with a heavy administrative workload and a packed teaching schedule, which hinder their ability to develop innovative teaching materials. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a solution to assist educators in developing teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to describe Arabic teachers’ perceptions of the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in developing teaching materials at MTsS Ar-Rohmah, MTSN 1 Bandung, and SMP Miftahul Iman through the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework, which includes Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Attitude Toward Using, Behavioral Intention, Actual System Use, as well as the barriers faced by teachers in the process of utilizing AI. The research approach is descriptive qualitative, utilizing interviews and document analysis, which revealed that teachers who adopted AI demonstrated high Perceived Usefulness encompassing seven tangible benefits in instructional material development practices, positive Perceived Ease of Use despite varying levels of proficiency in using prompts, a receptive Attitude Toward Using, a strong Behavioral Intention to continue using it, as well as active Actual System Use in their daily teaching practices. Meanwhile, teachers who do not adopt AI cite a lack of training, low technical skills, and a lack of support from fellow Arabic teachers as reasons for their low Perceived Ease of Use, which ultimately results in a negative Attitude Toward Using and a deferred Behavioral Intention with specific prerequisites.

Abstract

Religious character and public speaking skills are essential competencies in contemporary education. However, many students still face challenges in internalizing religious values and developing confidence in public communication. This study aimed to examine the associations between participation in the Mubaligh Hijrah Program and students’ religious character and public speaking skills. A quantitative approach using a cross-sectional survey design was employed. The participants consisted of 78 students from a private Islamic school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, who had participated in the Mubaligh Hijrah Program. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through descriptive statistics and simple linear regression using RStudio and SPSS. Prior to analysis, assumption tests, including normality, linearity, and homoscedasticity, were conducted to ensure data suitability. The findings revealed significant positive associations between participation in the Mubaligh Hijrah Program and both students’ religious character and public speaking skills. Students with higher levels of participation tended to demonstrate stronger religious character and better public speaking skills. These findings underscore the potential value of community-based religious activities in supporting character education and communication skill development in Islamic schools.
